    What made Iverson great to me was the kill in him. Iverson had a chip on his shoulder at an early age with off the court actions and held that chip throughout his career. He thought he had something to prove and it showed every night on the court. He was fearless on the court and that's why I hold him so high on the greatest players list. He was a dog! His handles catered to his physical abilities. He used them to get to his spots. He had amazing quickness. Sucks that he never got a ring or had decent help to get him one.
    Please do a spotlight on TMac. By far the most underrated player in the league in my opinion.

    • @jonathanlau6964
      @jonathanlau6964 2 роки тому

      Agreed... now that being said, I still do think a lot of his moves were carries (definitely in his earlier career) and some of the moves that NBA players are doing now are as well... some of the time it isn't even a move, it can even be walking the ball up the court. But I agree about him going downhill. The angles he picks are tough and puts sooo much pressure on you as a defender that you are constantly on your heels, then on your toes, then on your heels. We talk about how quick and fast he is, but what we need to recognize that quickness and agility aren't just about the feet, it is about his core strength. This guy was a ridiculous athlete and specimen before he was even a basketball player. Check his highschool football highlights! I never loved his game while playing probably cause I thought it was illegal and cause I couldn't do any of the stuff he could do, but this guy is a top 50 for sure!

    AI is so hard to guard, because defenses are so focused on his drives and then he gives you a wet jumper. And, like Arenas said he just kept attacking for 40 minutes, unlike Kobe or T-Mac who picks their spots. His stamina is killing defenders.

    So, i have a question regarding the finger roll high off the glass. Would you agree that the floater has kind-of taken over that area of the court and its probably the more efficient shot in that space? I just don't see too many situations where the finger roll high off the glass (extremely difficult to be decent at-master) is a better option. I haven't seen many guys master/use it in games. I know Curry used it for awhile but even he has started to adopt a floater.

    • @joshmann7587
      @joshmann7587 2 роки тому +2

      Got nothing to do with each other in my opinion, i use the underhand finish to reach away from people and the floater to go over people.

      just helps to be more versatile you might be right that a floater is more common and maybe easier, but if you a defender on your back you’re going to need that high off the glass finger roll

  • @schuylersavage276
    @schuylersavage276 10 місяців тому

    While I get why people say it’s kyrie hands down, I actually think Steph Curry has the best handles I’ve ever seen. Just pure handles. I mean it’s a coin toss to me honestly, but I just…I watch so much kyrie over the years…idk. I’m not saying he isn’t as good wirh habfles as people say he is , I’m just not sure he’s BeTTER than everyone else to the point where it’s not even a debate. People speak on kyires handles as if he’s as clearly the best dribbler as Steph is the best shooter, and I just don’t know if I can objectively agree. I do suppose it depends on one’s definition of best handles though. I think my bias here might be that Steph has just pulled off more specific moves that stand out to me ? Whereas Kyrie just has a next level control of the ball? As flashy as he sort of is, kyire also isn’t as flashy as he used to be. He reminds me more of a methodical maestro with the rock now. Where he was a young stud in the league, I felt like he put on a more flashy show wirh his moves more often. But idk I’m probably way off here hmmzzz…again I think it really is just my personal view on handles getting in the way of me naming kyire at the tip top. There are just SO many players with such insane handles over the last decade it’s just hard for me to stop at kyire when the topic comes up. Heck, Kemba Walkers handles? Paul George!!! Joe Johnson!? Even Russ and Wall, they were never known as having the best handles around, BUT I saw both of them pull off some of the freaking nastiest moves ever! Wall had this specific size up move he would use, it was SO dynamic and So FAsT. He would have the ball in his left, use an in and out dribble faking going between his legs and then actually putting it between his legs to his right hand right after completion of the in and out, but then as the defender was trying to get back to cut off his right hand, as their momentum was shifting he would go behind the back back to his left hand for a pull up Jimmy. So basically it was like his verison of curry’s classic between behind move. Just some added misdirection and speed in the mix. It’s one of those moves I would have to reward and watch over and over and over. And then Westbrook, his sham god moves he would pull out in actual games were SO freaking dope, as well as some of his behind the back splits. I could just go on and on about these modern dudes handles. Jalen Brunson on a whole new level. Jayson Tatum? For his size? His handle is freaking mind blowing. The dude has SUCH elite shiftiness. He mostly just uses it to get his defender leaning the other way so he can step back into an open 3, so maybe it’s sort of subtle? But it’s elite

    You can't compare handles from AI's time to Today's generation. AI had the best handle in his era and he had the best handles at that time. It was simple back then, no fancy 10 dribbles to blow by a defender. Now Kyrie has the best currently. Dribbling skills has evolved and I think Kyrie is on top of that. Even AI said it himself, Kyrie and Steph has better handles than him. I agree though, AI has quickness, probably because of his long reach also?
