Yep even though the moon I very close then its original position
idk why I can't wrap my head around the statement, "When we stare at the red color of the lunar eclipse, we're seeing every sunrise and sunset on earth reflected back at us at the same time." I feel maybe I am overthinking it and making it out to be a more profound statement than it actually is but if someone can break this down for me please
I thought I was the only one who felt that way ;-;
Basically imagine a red flashlight in a ring shape. That flashlight is pointed at the moon which is making it appear red.
@@Milky-gr7hz but instead of a red flashlight in a ring shape it's a white flashlight through a lens filtered red with the middle part getting blocked
Basically sunrises and sunsets are nothing more than the sun appearing at the horizon. When the sun is that low on the horizon, its light is passing through more of Earth's atmosphere. And because the atmosphere filters out the shorter wavelengths of light more than longer wavelengths (the blues more then reds), only red light is reaching the moon.

I can't thank you enough for getting this episode out, not just for putting people's 'fear to rest' but to properly educate them on what's going on and that it's perfectly natural.
I can't recall how many time's I've tried to explain this to some of my family members that this is a natural occurrence and is easily explainable but they keep believing that this is a 'sign' of the end times... SMH

That's how you see everything. That's what seeing something means.

Hey there! a slight correction on 2:31. It is said in the video that the next super moon + lunar eclipse won't happen before 2033, but later today, 26 May 2021, it is going to happen. Very excited for it!!

I've seen about 3 - 5 red moons since 2008. It's equally beautiful and unnerving. I prefer the partials that make the moon appear kinda creamy orange, but those are so common I've grown indifferent to them.

Thanks for this interesting video, however at 2:44 it would be great if you could have the light and dark divide for earth and the moon horizontal instead of vertical (since the sun is at the bottom of the screen)...with the current representation it seems like the earth and moon are illuminated from the left instead of the bottom.

amazing explanation
I see a "blood moon" really frequently at the start of spring. last month I saw it 4 times in a row
it starts orange.. then full blood red, orange again and then it goes a bit yellowish white.. and then it's normal white again.
I'm blessed with such sight

Love the episodes and keep 'em coming, but just wanted to nit-pick that at around 3:20 the Moon-perspective solar eclipse shows the Earth at about the same apparent size as the Sun, but the angular diameter of the Earth would be 4 times that of the Sun.

There was a super blue blood moon was seen in Australia at the start of this year (2018) and I wasn't able to see it becayse it was way too cloudy. But the clouds turned orange which was pretty cool.

Well, I found the blood moon very amazing, and also the funny thing is that I got almost, ALMOST the same facts you just said.
So I'm watching this video, because I was just watching a bloodred moon from my balcony. Now I knew it existed, I just never saw it with my own eyes. And neither did I know what the cause of it was. Thanks for filling me in.
