I keep a few of those chords on hand in case I am set up in an outdoor tent and have to run a power line to a house or garage or something. Of course, I use it for the visibility aspect of it so people don't trip over it.
Exactly
Same here. But people still manage to not see them.
That's exactly why they're made orange.
Indoor venue black all the way. Outdoor/barn venue, if needed I will continue to use my 100ft long 10 gauge yellow extension cords to get me power where needed since the barn thinks 1 circuit with 8 other things plugged into it is fine for me.
Black cords cost more money and if you don’t see the cord what difference dose it make
I agree to a certain extent. It depends on how the cords & cables are managed. I have yellow, black, and orange electrical cords from 16 to 10 gauge. I also have "Cord Ramps" or "Floor Runners" (they have many names), but they completely cover any exposed cords/cables that could cause a trip hazard. The cords are hidden under these ramps which I have black, off-white, and black & yellow. I have various lengths from 2ft. to 10 ft sections. People can walk over them and I never worry about taping them down. They are not useful in the grass, but any other flat surface is basically effortless to conceal multiple cables. With this being said, I try to manage cord placement as much as possible to look professional & safe, while minimizing setup/breakdown time.
While I agree that we should be using black color cords, they unfortunately not as available as the orange cords. But that's what black gaff tape is for.
Did an outdoor wedding and the coordinator wanted only green cords to blend into the grass. I keep a couple in the tub just for these reasons.
I have found that wedding planners and corporate events appreciate the look of the black and especially the white cables.
I disagree with you on this. These types of cords are best for outside events as a safety measure, where people may step on and trip. Gaff tapes don't work on dirt or grass.
Lawn staples
Or you can get those speed bump cable protectors
I actually like the idea of lawn staples.
My personal opinion. Just like your personal opinion. It’s also very professional if you’re doing outdoor events with a lot of high traffic where you can’t put down black and yellow tape.
I myself do a lot of car shoes. Sometimes my set up I need to be further away from my power outlet. There will be a lot of people walking. I get it I can get those speedbump looking things that hide wires they’re black and yellow. But as a mobile DJ like myself I’m out of the back of a Volkswagen. No I’m not offended by your opinion. I’ve actually thought about getting all black. But why do that when the same cord does the same job. And I’ve been in some very fancy venues. Multi million dollar set ups. (Venue) … i’m not sure where you live or who you have had the pleasure to Dj for. As long as the cord isn’t going across the dance floor or any type of show area. Who cares lol. I believe this is more of a stickler thing. But nevertheless I follow your page and I see your point in the professional side of the look. National clean concealed you won’t be able to see it without having to look for it.
I’m just saying sometimes my safety for others came to mind when I had to think of what color extension cord. Now with all that said….. The actual set up a Self I believe it’s a 6 foot in length cable that I have for my power strip. Usually they get stuck straight back. And I try to keep everything nice and clean for the immediate area of the DJ booth once everything is set up we’re talking maybe a 6 x 6 or even a 10 x 10 area.
Where I will be actually performing at needs to be neat clean and organized.
After that 6 foot of cable I’m not gonna give too much of a shit as long as it’s not going to trip anybody up.
Man i has used this kinda cord and had no issues, But your advice is Realistic, Great point Thanks Nick…👊🏽🤓
Hey, how about in a pumpkin patch, can I use it there?
Totally agree - black cords not chords are appropriate. And for those saying they use the orange cords outdoors, we require our clients to check that the outlet works and run the power to the DJ spot before the event. That way we don’t have to bring 200 feet of extension cords and pray the outlet works.
I thought orange was the new black 😂😂😂
Best comment! LOL
I like green for outside.🤷🏻♂️ especially for my theater setup.
i have them just because they gave them to me ..lol ....i get what he says but man for outdoor events these are life savers , just saying !!!
It depends on the gauge of wire you need for the power you're consuming, honestly. I would rather have a neon yellow 10 gauge cord that can pull 20 amps and power everything no problem than 5 different 14 gauge cords that will create an immediate ground loop issue.
Plus, one cord to power everything means your Furman power conditioner that runs everything in the rack and your table can have as many Ebtech ground loop eliminators plugged in as possible, since they crap out above 6 amps worth of consumption.
Still, black is usually the best option and ordering them through a professional company like Uline or Grainger instead of Home Depot or Lowe's will almost always ensure they're in stock and you're ready to go.
Another point to add is make sure you get the proper gauge black extension cable. The more money you pay the better.
I could not stop 😂😂😂. Your right. It’s tacky. Done using the green one I have. 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾
Outdoor use a must for outdoor when it can’t be anchored or fastened. White extension when having to hang lights from ceilings.
Also, if your cables are just laying around, color won’t be your big issue!
Black sjoow 12/3 extension cable, I build all my own power cables with hubbell Edison connectors
This!!!!!
SOOW is best for sure if youre going to war.....SJTW is enough easier to wrap...12/3 for sure. 10/3 is overkill.
I’m in this boat with you. I have a couple 10/3 x 100’ for long outdoor run too just in case. Voltage drop is a bitch.
Green cords are good for outdoors as they blend in better than black. Not up the tripod stands, but for runs across the grass and through bushes, definitely.
Thank You For That Tip. Will Go And Purchase Black Extension Cords!!👍🏽👍🏽
What if it’s a outside event and you need to run it across a road because of the it’s the only power source. I get it for wedding I would use orange for times like this only.
This guy...smh Who is going to notice what color the extension cord is when it is covered in "black" tape?? Maybe a rival DJ who is hating on another DJ because he is a better DJ than him, and he couldn't find anything else to hate on him....Lol My crowd is too busy going bananas to notice small things like that....only a female wedding coordinator would notice sh$t like that. Lmao 🤣 🤣 🤣
The lawn yard extinct-tion cord 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A video on resolving a ground loop would be amazing.
Try running all your sound, controller and laptop into the same surge protector
would you recommend black or white power surge protector.
Bro gotta keep the orange just in case you gotta far ass outlet 😅😅😅😅😅
Well with everything being in back order and the bargo ports situation I thing those have to do for know
So now we’re nit picking about power cords…
I’m not there to impress other dj’s 🤷🏽♂️
What if your wires are all orange or green or yellow I understand were you coming from but if your wires are a different color than black then rock out with those color extension cords
I LOVE THAT PLUG !!! Stop it Nick . now you just are Nick Picking. (See what I did there) lol
From the looks of these comments maybe we need to talk about running 200 ft of cords or running cords across roads ? I mean cmon people if the venue or client cant provide adequate power source don't do the gig. Or buy / rent an appropriate generator but you should never be in a situation where you have to sacrifice proper electricity to do a show.
If you are outside at length and it could possibly be a trip Hazzard these are better than black, no matter how delicate you are about it.
Inside, never.
Sometimes you gotta work with what you got... But for the younger generation they don't understand that
Orange is truly unsightly
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK 🤣
I use only black or dark green cords.
I understand where you’re coming from, but it’s not the end of the world if this happens to be the only type of cord you have.
So now there a certain color cords Dj’s use now really stupid to me just my opinion I will continue to use these cords
thats me lol
I use invisible cords. Problem solved.
I use Green extension cords for my ceremony setup because i ain't no bitch. But at least i am setup on grass and it camouflages
BCM Black Cords Matter
🤣🤣🤣
Just color it black.
Me with my green cords... jk 😂😂
This is what we're doing now? Judging other DJs based on the color of their extension cords? C'mon you are better than this
DJs can do better than orange cables. You trimming hedges or trying to have a clean presentation?
@@empanadamn_old womp womp
Bro if you have this orange cord just say that
@@Brink33 mines is hot pink actually 🤣🤣🤣
I would call that a huge NO NO for Djs, rookie mistake.
I just use a fat black industry cable.....👌
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey buddy you complaining too much what’s wrong with the orange cord if you nobody see it specially in the dark you complaining too much you Just want to find excuses to make more videos and I’m over it
Yup!
Wow really?? This is still happening? Another thing people need to remember is make your setup clean.
Fuck that I bought it for outside events where the outlet is 150-200 ft away, I won’t use it for a wedding but ima buy black for now on
Dude who gives a f*** at the end of the day a wire is a wire
Black inside. High visibility outside
My man Nick 🤣
Use a different color lol
🥴🥴🥴🥴
Dude you can’t be serious; your bugging over a color, I’m sure you can find something more relevant to whine about Lol
💯💯💯
It’s tacky!!!
Lol Weirdo
I don’t give a fuck if it’s silver and blue tape it down and go to to much time spent on frivolous details stop it
I like my cords how I like my men: short and black
Gross
Orange cords are good for ev evolve users because they suck too
100% agree
🇮🇹😀😀😀😀
