The one that reminds you of a tribe in the Philippines is a real Igorot and he is wearing a modernized version of an Igorot outfit. Actually all of them are wearing the modernized version of the traditional clothing of the Region where they each came from. Each of them represents some of the major tribes in the Philippines and they also sing in each of their regional language (Bisaya, Hiligaynon, Ilocano, Bicolano, Kapampangan, Waray-Waray and Tagalog). They also integrated some Filipino folk dances in their choreography and music such as Tinikling and Maglalatik. The colorful theme of the MV is inspired by the colorful fiestas in Philippines hence the the bandiritas on the background.
Thank you so much for sharing me that info, I really appreciate it, I noticed the Igorot clothing but I didn't realized that he is from that tribe. All the other info that you mentioned the traditional clothing and language of there region where they came from, I didn't know that as well. However, I did notice the dance of the Tinikling I just didn't know the name haha. I have to watch it again and look very closely haha. Alamat members came from the different provinces in the Philippines (Kalinga, Pampanga, Zambales, Bicol, Samar, Bohol, Negros Occ., Davao), thus the diversity in their looks. They incorporate modern and tradional elements in their fashion and the music. Their songs have 7 PH languages. Please react also to their kasmala, Porque, Sandigan and Tibay 'Yan MVs. Thank you.
This is all good, but you have to say that the hair color, and the light skin does throws you off allot making them look Kpop-ish, for those who are watching them for the first time like myself, will think that they are korean because of that. Majority of the filipinos that live in the PH are brown skin. I'm not hating on them, I'm just saying my first impression of them after all this is a RV haha.. There are only one or two people who have light skin among the band. Most of them are medium to dark. It must be just the lighting that's making them look light.
They are actually filipino looking. One of the considering factors why they were chosen as a member of the group is because they look filipino. It just happened that the hair colors make them a bit kpop-ish. :)

I'm Filipino born but moved to America when I was 3yrs old, I have brown skin and the majority of the Filipinos that live in the PH are brown skin as well. When I visited the PH, I noticed that if you have light skin you are teated differently then if you have brown skin and allot of people in the PH are using whiting skin products to make there skin white, its funny because here in America its the opposite, the majority of the young generation want to have brown skin, they sun bath allot, use tan products and even going to places like a tanning salon to darken their skin haha. It's funny how people from other parts of the world look at things differently to what is attractive and whats not. @@Islandboy4Ewa sadly, it is quite true that lighter skinned people are favored by majority here in the Philippines as a result of our previous colonizations. While it is true that majority of us are with brown skin, somehow many are also having lighter brown complexion due to mixing with foreign blood, specially in the younger generations. As a person in the country, the Alamat members are actually still considered to be with moreno to lighter moreno skin tone. They are actually still not considered within the lightskinned standard in the current entertainment industry here. To be honest, their filipino height & skin tone, albeit the lighter brown tone, are actually still considered as disadvantages in the local industry.

Not only do they wear modernized traditional outfits, designed by Filipino designers and weaves by local producers, they also sing in at least 7 different languages (Tagalog. Ilokano, Kapampangan, Bicolano, Bisaya, Waray-Waray, Hiligaynon). Their recent song Porque was Chavacano (Zamboanga) and Tagalog. They also incorporate many cultural and historical elements in their video. Highly recommend Kasmala as that song will surely connect with FilAms like you and me. It is a tribute to the courage, resilience and strength of Filipinos who went thru abuse and prejudice esp during 1904 World's Fair, St Louis and The Manongs Generation of Stockto, CA. By the way, half of them have kayumanggi skin and one is mixed Filipino-Black American which represent our multicultural, multilingual diversity. 🤎 Thanks again! Their upcoming song (feb 14) is ABKD.
