There are some friends of mine who do more than required but they still are stuck in the cycle of self doubt bcz a brain is just that irrational at times... I've stopped relying on my thinking for making any sane decision bcz I'm mostly so clouded by automatic negative thoughts which are so strong they actually convince you to feel worthless...

I managed to get A*A*A* in my A-Levels. Best revision top would be past papers questions and the examiner reports on Edexcel which tells students what they are doing right or wrong. Good luck. 🌟

Practise, consistency. A-levels are repetitive, systematic questions if you're good at taking a lot of information then you'll be okay for the most part. But you have to put in the work and exam technique practise to get the 90s.

@@miesht430 I don't know what a short amount of time is but to be honest assuming you did all the revision and you can actively recall most the module, pastpapers are usually there to get a feel for the type of questions and what type of answers they're looking for. You'll begin to realise a pattern in the exam overall and the style of answers.

For me personally, I really should've spent more time doing active recall of the content, starting past papers a bit earlier and actually using timed conditions so I had time to fully analyse the kind of answers and questions they like.

A levels where hard though I did exactly as you said and crammed it last minute and itd work. But when it was exam season stress hit hard. I was losing hair at a crazy rate and getting spots on my face that I have never got prior. Bruh I used to wake at 4am some nights almost in tears that I was a failure and I couldnt even do well in a couple of exams. What helped me get through it was understanding that I had made the mistakes and you can't go back to change that but what you can do is commit to doing everything you can from this point onwards and if you do that you really can't be that mad at yourself no more cuz sitting there stressing about what could have been is not gonna change anything

Starting early with revision was definitely a plus because it meant that I could plan ahead and mark my progress as I continued. When approaching revision, recognize the importance of knowing the content and then practice the exam technique. For flashcards, I would seriously recommend Anki as I was able to revise on the go on my laptop or phone ( whilst on the bus, in between lunch breaks etc.) Past papers are the way to improve your exam technique but use them wisely i.e after you have learned your content and under exam conditions. Make sure you learn from your mistakes and write what went well during the exam practice and what needs to be improved on.

    1. lack of consistency/hard work - small amounts of work over a long period of time > large chunks and high intensity study sessions in a short period of time
    2. looking into Alternatives - Do not have the mindset of where if things dont go well you can just go abroad where grade requirements are lower - work as if the thing you're working for is the only alternative
    3. Find people in class who want to get good grades and work hard so you can work together - also stay close with teachers so they see your effort and will want to help you and reciprocate that same enthusiasm - be open minded and accepting to feedback especially when they're credible like a teacher
    4. Networking - speak to others who are in line with your future goals and ambitions e.g students in uni who are doing your aspiring course etc - take the advice they have - you dont get unless you ask - make extra effort and find these "tools" - people who have experienced what you want to do.

“Be more fearless when it comes to asking people for help.” That honestly struck a chord with me. I don’t what it is, it’s definitely not pride because I know that I can’t do it on my own, and that I don’t know everything, but for some reason I really find it hard to ask people for help, especially teachers. Even during parent-teacher meetings I’d always hear the comment that “I produce good work but I never come see the teacher for help and I sit and struggle in silence for hours when a tasked would’ve only taken 20 minutes had I just asked for help.” Honestly, I think that’s my biggest regret, not utilising my teachers enough. I’m determined to change that however, as exam season officially starts tomorrow. I need 3As to get into Warwick and I’ll be damned if I let something as little as asking for help be the reason I don’t get in. Pray for me.

So true A Levels is a monster especially when your still high and proud about doing well in your GCSEs it hits you hard and you realise the task ahead. I retook my Alevels and as you say you always have a second chance and you have to pick yourself up from failing to do well .... whatever happens dont give up @ 18 or 19 you feel that this is it but theres always a way and remember you got plenty of time and if you really want to do something just stick to it as younger older you will realise the extra year or couple of years you took to do what you wanted to do are few years of your life and that in life there are bigger challenges ahead.

I personally felt like what helped me THE MOST in my studies is starting early.. I started studying in the summer before my a levels started and that really helped me be ahead of the rest of my class and do well in general, but it’s not NECESSARY to start THAT early, I started late for several units but I always tried my very absolute best to start AT LEAST 3 months prior to my exam and start my past papers approx 1.5 months prior, I believe it’s not HOW many papers u do, timing is very important because the longer You’ve been doing it the stronger ur concepts will be by the time of ur exams (ie 5 parts done in a month before exam > 10 papers done the night before) so ya I hope that helps

This video is honestly so relatable for me. For GCSEs I got all A’s and A*s just by revising the day before the exams and doing 2 to 3 past papers. The questions really are extremely repetitive. However this tripped me up at A Levels as I thought I could do the same again and fly through them like I did with GCSEs. BIG UNDERESTIMATION. I flopped my A Levels completely and am only able to do the course I want in university now because I received an unconditional offer. Otherwise I don’t know what I would’ve done, and everyone thought I was such an intelligent and academic person but the absolute opposite happened at A Levels.

  • @clairekelly1263

I'm repeating A-levels so I'm a year older than everyone, but despite having the extra year I still find myself making the same mistakes that cost me my A-levels initially. I wish I seen this video when you posted it in January because what you say resonates with me a lot. To anyone who is doing GCSES or younger and plans on doing A-levels, listen closely to what this guy says. If you're not achieving the grades you want, you need to change your approach. Good luck in your exams.

    • @clairekelly1263
      @clairekelly1263 5 років тому

@@zubair6449 Generally, I would say yes. Repeating gives you a chance to show what you're really capable of. But at the same time, you would need to weigh it up with how much you want to repeat the year. I chose to repeat rather than being forced to so I had a positive mindset but some people can find it detrimental to their progress. But if you think you are capable of improving, I would say its worth it

So, I just finished watching this and reading some comments at 4.00 am. I'm an AL student doing CAIE and this video really seems helpful. I haven't done consistent revision but still get decent grades ( the overnight method 😂) . However, quarantine really messed me up and now I barely can do one paper. Hopefully, after your tips and the comments, this December, about 6 months from my exams, I will be able to redeem myself. Thank you.

Mashallah! I clicked on this video through my recommended. This is really inspirational. It shows that all the time we waste is painful when we cramp everything at the last minute. I have found the right group of people and it is really helping it allows you to understand in a more comfortable way. The teachers really help, they wait and try over and over. Thank you so much for giving me some spirit for education .

I’m from Malaysia. Already graduated from highschool and still waiting for my entrance in June 25th. It’s quite hard to take A Levels here, Malaysian students need to excel in their highschool, to be specifically straight A(s) in every subjects. But I only got 8 out of 9 As. Nearmiss on my Biology. I’m grateful to be offered to take A Levels. But at the same time, I’m scared and nervous because I’m afraid that I’ll do mistakes that I shouldn’t. Your experience helps me a lot! Wish me good luck 💪🏻

Ive always been a good student, for my IGCSEs i got straight A's. I took 3 sciences + maths for my Alevels this year but things didnt go as planned. Ive been slacking off big time for the first time in my life, involving myself with trash people, sneaking out, partying etc. i never thought this would be me. Sure, ive made some pretty dope memories, cool friends, but what did it cost me? My grades, my future.
I sat my first few A level finals this week and im telling you it would be a miracle if i got an E on anything. i am fucked.
i had dreams to study forensics abroad and shit, what have i done to myself? i lost all motivation to study this year, i have not done a single homework. i skipped most of my classes telling myself id study at home, but id go back home and fuck around.
i am scared, theres no way im passing this year, meaning i wont advance to my second year of A levels.. my school has a policy that if i failed more than 2 A levels i wont be able to enrol in the school next year, even to repeat the year. And where i live, there arent many schools that provide international certificates unless theyre like 2 hours away.
i never thought i would ever fail a test, or have to repeat a year, or worry about what university will accept me. This is what i sacrificed to make more friends, to be more popular, to be "happy", but surprisingly, i am the most miserable ive ever been, at 17. to anyone reading this, nothing is worth sacrificing your future for. no one. nothing. you do you. learn from my mistakes... because for me, my future is pretty much destroyed :(

I think, on the positive side, in A Levels (perhaps unlike in university) you've got access to a detailed specification AND lots of question papers which are by far the most important resources. You have to make sure you do past papers coz they tell you the kinda questions that you're probably gonna get. It's very likely you will be floored in an exam if you didn't do past papers and you just studied the material (even if you understood it, and even if you do manage to get around a question it's gonna take you time which you don't have in an exam) ...AND ALSO not to forget your teachers, (unlike in uni) who can actually afford to sit down with you more often than not and help you out. So make use of them!

  • @katek3512

Poland is one of the best countries to study medicine in Europe, besides UK of course and maybe Germany. Therefore, all of the universities require AA or AAA (it has to be biology and then you can choose between chemistry, physics and maths), very unlikely someone with B will be accepted, with marks C there is not even a possibility. So comparing here Polish medical uni to the ones in Bulgaria and Romania is very misleading. That's also why Polish doctors are much welcomed coming to practice in UK (plus, they don't have to do FY1, they do FY2 straight away).

I've been studying hard all year and now I'm doing loads of past papers, reviewing mistakes etc but I'm still not sure that I'll get my predicted (AAB) mainly bc I'm not very good at chemistry 😅.
One thing I like to remind myself to keep me motivated is that, no matter what, even if I don't get exactly my predicted, I did my best.

Mate, maths is just too much and I'm scared it's gonna stop me getting where I want to go. I do well on certain past papers where I can do the content but when it comes to applying it, I can't handle it and get like 40% and it just kills my motivation for all of it. Does anyone have any words of encouragement to help me get over that mental block? :):

I am pretty sure I already know a lot of syllabus as it overlaps from other tests but I am still unsure and very confused. Do tell please.....
