In this video we decided to create a compilation of all of the announcement trailers for Gears of War. Including every Gears of War title excluding Gears of War Judgement as it didn't flow with the other trailers and isn't part of the main storyline.

I watched my son grow up playing there games and now that he’s grown, moved out and has a family of his own, I still go back and watch these trailers and remember when he was small.

It embodied the whole Idea of Humanity's last great war/Apocalypse and it was not even an alien thread but something from the depths of our home world

I like them all except 5. 1-4 tell a cinematic masterpiece of the progress of the gears story in almost a short story type of way. 5 is like 80% gameplay type footage which is pretty underwhelming. Like if they did the trailer like gears 4 or even 3 then it would have been better to me.

Yeah, 1-4 (especially 1-3) give you tons of information, through a short, Cinematic masterpiece. 5 is like someone reading off the plot, while some in game footage and cutscenes play.

Watching Gears 2 trailer and it hurts the souls so hard because they’re basking in a peaceful place before going into the fight. I see how young Marcus is, Cole, and Dom with a pic of Maria. Losing Dom is Gears 3 and then just seeing how old these characters have become in the older Gears games. Gears of War really hits the soul..

My favorite is either 2 or 4
My problem with the Gears games after 3 are the fact that they're mainly based around developing the story of the war or something new they introduced. The older games were so much darker and played well off eachother, story wise. Ive played all the games apart from the first until a month ago and I'm honestly surprised at how unique the experience felt. I really hope the Coalition doesn't do a 343 with gears as 343 did with Halo

Gears and Halo always had the best cinematic trailers.
They both also were enjoyable only during their trilogy.
It's interesting how the trailers show the change in mass appeal themes over the years. 1 was pure machismo, Marcus vs Everything. 2 was a little softer, more sombre. 3 was dark, showing the impact of the war on civilians and the toll it's taking on the Gears. 4 shows Marcus as a family man, adding some depth to his character. And 5 is an overlong cutscene which starts with our new hero crying, then being unreasonable, then refusing a direct order with no consequence.
Also I can't believe how cheap the 360 was when Gears 2 came out. 200 bucks was about 180 pounds back then and I remember thinking that was expensive 😑

tbf though, they used 3rd party components, where as now basically everything is namebrand and custom made for the consoles, also inflation

I’d argue them listening to themselves is what made the games great! When they listen to the fans, they’re not making THEIR game which means they’re disconnected from THEIR identity and THEIR vision MEANING the game will have no identity as most don’t and no soul as well!!! When developers do it THEIR way, games tend to be MUCH better!!!
My dad introduced me to this game series when I was 8 or so we played the first one I had a blast and I’ve played every single one growing up, this franchise has been practically apart of my family thanks gears of war for the memories

These resonate (excuse the gear 1 pun) so much with a point in people lives especially if your like just turning 30 now, it's memories to life without day to day responsibility and let's never forget RIP Dom Santiago

I remember seeing almost all of these on TV when they came out. I remember where I was when I first saw the first game's trailer. Real good stuff. Very interesting too see how the series went 14 years later, or even gaming in general. I waited for the game to come out on the then brand new 360, since launch games weren't really that big. Mostly was just playing OG Xbox games on it, or Forza or Tomb Raider or Quake 4. Gears was probably the biggest thing for 360 in 2006.

Gears 1-4 Each were beautifully crafted showing the struggles of humanity and the characters using only music and Scenery. Gears 5 however was a glimpse into ONE MISSION with Scenic montages and Kait.

Gears 1-4 had the best trailers. I feel like Gears 1 trailer instills the fear, uncertainty and anxiety of battle. Gears 2 is battle hardened, dealing with another day of hell. Gears 3 is waiting for the end, whether it's the war or your life. And then Gears 4 is living a time of peace but secretly waiting for war to ensue once again. Huge fan of the franchise!

I love 1-5 didn’t like Judgement cause of the controls and the fact you could only carry two weapons. 3 is the best in my opinion but I love what the Coalition has done as well. They have just expanded on the formula and tried new things which to me is a good thing. I remember when I first played gears of war 4 and I didn’t like it that much because it wasn’t like the original trilogy but years later I played them all over again and beat them on insane (still working on 5’s inconceivable difficulty). I loved 4 and can’t believe I slept on it so hard. 5 tried something completely new like the open world levels, Jack being a character, and changing the formula up I feel like it was awesome to see something like that not to mention the graphics. The multiplayer had a rough launch but it’s fine now. I am excited for Gears of War 6 whenever it comes out.

This brings back memories I never got to complete it my Xbox came with the ultimate edition and when I lost my account I lost the game which was sad and the only part I got to was the train area where we fought a tall mutant who had like bugs or birds that was very hard.
I've played all the gears and consider 4&5 their own series. 4 has a beautiful trailer that shows the progression of JD's life but 5 felt more like other games. Not as deep but just has deep parts. The original trilogy was so much more than that

My dad got me into this series. One of my favourites ever.
I remember being little and playing this game with my dad. I am grown and out of the house now. Sometimes when I get upset I go back and watch these videos. And I begin to cry because I miss the times I spent with my father.

Gears of War will forever be one of the best game series ever made to date, the trailers are full of such darkness with a hint hope but and unending struggle in between. It will forever remain in memory watching every single one of these trailers on TV and online.

I stopped caring when they brought back the whole cast from 4. Writing when down the shitter, but they definitely nailed the trailer for 4.
As soon as I heard Kate say this isn't about you to a Fenix I knew gears and went down the wrong path it would be fine if this was a side game but it was a mainstream gears game and if they put either Marcus or JD OR HELL EVEN ANYONE FROM DELTA SQUAD (that includes carmine) as a main character you play gears 5 could've been an alright game

I remember watching the Gears 3 trailer over and over when I was 13, I was so excited. Mad World and Herone Blue were some of my favourite songs for a long time thanks to these trailers. I never really watched the Gears 2 trailer until way later. Fuck it's amazing though.
Gears 4 was ok but Gears 5 had such a shit trailer compared to all the other ones.

Gears 2 trailer was Interesting for me. Hopeless at the beginning. Nothing left to lose, so they continue fighting. Fits the Gears of War so good.
Gears 1-3 felt like passion projects. Made by people who genuinely loved what they were doing and wanted to keep pushing themselves to improve and innovate each time. Gears 4 was a decent entry by a new developer but I feel Gears 5 dropped off massively, even the trailers reflect that with how out of place Gears 5's trailer feels within this video.
I remember back in the day when I couldn't decide whether to get a PS3 or 360, the Gears 1 trailer with Mad World was what convinced me to go with the 360

wow all of them was good except gears 5 which is a literal cutscene and the only thing different is marcus's beard being shaven. i never watched any of the trailers but used to play the 3 games before i even became a teen and the trailers (especially 2) makes sense. i hope the story concludes in gears 6.
Gears 4 trailer hits a nerve all men whom have sons should feel. We are warriors raising warriors. We have our battles and dragons to fight and we need to prepare our own sons for their battles and dragons they will inevitability have to face.
It goes without saying that barring "Kait Diaz and the Retcon of Doom" (Gears 5), the cinematic trailers for each Gears game are utterly brilliant. My favourite is definitely 3, for delivering a hopeless tone whilst simultaneously making it clear that Delta Squad still has one last fight in them.
4 and its use of Disturbed's cover of "Sound of Silence" is my second favourite.
They need to course correct with 6. The Diaz family story is hurting the franchise and kait is NOT a good lead. She's not strong or a leader. She's selfish and whiney. In 4 she didn't listen to reason. She only cares about people she knew, vs JD and Marcus who knew that the threat was much bigger and could decimate more than just their settlement/village. And in 5, she again does not care about anything except herself. Her character is undeserving of being the lead as she's only in that position because of her bloodline, which is a cheap easy way to force 'importance' on her. In the original trilogy, Marcus would disobey orders, but not selfishly. He put the safety of everyone else first and took necessary risks being aware of the possible consequences. Kait is the opposite. She doesn't do anything unless she wants to and to hell with the consequences and everyone else.
GoW 2 is the best ad they ever made. That moment in the lift, where they're silent knowing that they succeed or else the humans are done and they're dead. Then 3, then 4, then 1/ultimate and 5 in last. But yeah, 2s ad was perfect. The song and the imagery coupled with the story when it released. Best game ad I've ever seen.

Really enjoyed gears 1 to 3 but never played 4 and 5. The trailer for 4 looks good but 5 isn't for me, the characters and open world stuff isn't my thing. Plus Gears isn't about show/speaking emotional it's hard grit.

yeah that's the difference between a bunch of people who wanted to make a game and people who where TOLD to male a game, guns and executions felt way more brutal in the other gears, the blood on the floor even disapears after 5 seconds, and when an enemy is downed they dont leave a trail of blood, all those little details make the masterpiece that i once loved, kinda disapointed of what it became

@@pratyushb2024 Theres alot. First 3 games were done by Epic, with Cliff Blezinski as the head. They were a heavy 3rd person shooter with a very bleak and depressing world that had a long war with these underground lizard like men called the Locust, and later at the end of 2 and throughout 3 also introduced another faction called the Lambent. Which was created from Imuslion (their version of oil) that became like a disease due to mutation from certain bombs. Similar to Cordyceps. Brutal games, especially for the time. 1 was weighted, kind of stiff. Very muted colours. 2 was pretty much the same as 1, sped up just a touch and looked better. 3 improved much more on those two fields, while still keeping the core of the series intact.
Judgement was a prequel set during the beginning of the 15 year Locust war, right after the Pendulum wars (essentially a world war for the special Oil, which was mostly ended when the Locust came up) with 2 of the main cast of the trilogy taking the spotlight. Made the game more arcadey, was made by People Can Fly (the guys behind Bulletstorm).
4 was a sort of return to form. Made by a new studio that was similar to 343 industries of the new Halo games. A new team comprised of some of the old Epic team (and new of course) looking to bring Gears back. It introduced a new enemy called the Swarm. Which we knew little of. Alot of people had their speculations, like that they were Locust that came back after the Locust/Lambent killing bomb went off in 3. You played as the Main Character's son 25 years after 3. Combat was similar to 3's, but somewhat faster and still as meaty. Despite the story never being the best (it was still good) 4 is where it went a bit downhill. Ended with a cliffhanger, that the secondary playable character's mother (when she was dying to to being connected to the Swarm) had a Locust pendant given to her by her (the 2nd MC's mother) mother. Which meant a connection.
Gears 5, ramps up combat yet again to have a lighter feel. Not so much like Judgment, similar to 4s. It is revealed that certain types of the Swarm are indeed the Locust, who had survived by being mutated and cacooned by the bomb at the end of 3. Pretty much like the Mosquito in Jurassic Park. The 2nd MC from 4 is now the primary Protagonist. She goes on a mission to discover the connection of her and the Locust at an old facility that you first discovered in Gears 2. You also look for a way to defeat the Swarm. The MC's mother is later shown to be alive and the one commanding the Swarm, although at first you think it's the Original Locust Queen. It ends very bleakly with Humanity back in the position it was in the first game. Scattered and on the brink of Extinction.
Honestly though, play the games . They are good. And the lore is very expanded.

One of these things is not like the other, five honestly is the worst game in the series. It doesnt even feel like a gears of war game. 4 was shit but atleast it had a trailer like the others, 5 was different in all the wrong ways nothing good about it at all.
