I like how in the Injustice universe after Green Arrow dies, Doctor Fate says, "F*ck fate" and brings Black Canary to an alternate universe where Green Arrow is alive just so they could be together. That's real.
No Black Canary died then he went to her and then said fuck fate.

A big issue for me is when comic book couples get drama thrown their way because writers see them being happy and think it's boring, sometimes making one or both parties look like terrible people in the process.
Comic book writers really be acting like it's hard to create drama and tension without the love interests beefing. Like you don't have to do it all the time to keep the reader's attention. Show them facing problems. Not being the problem. It's that easy.
@@lightning10053 Same issue with families; a lot of writers think that a character getting married and/or having kids is boring unless it has drama to it. That's not true at all; that just means you're bad at making families interesting.
@OpticalSorcerer An example I always bring up is Peter. Like, so many people became fans of Peter in the 80s and 90s. Those guys are adults now. They don't think those old fans can relate to seeing Peter try to raise a daughter and deal with juggling a family with being spider-man? You can make good drama without making artificial nonsense. Good drama just NATURALLY happens. Like before Jon got aged up.
@@lightning10053 NGL, I don't mind Jon being silently retconned as older since it can get weird that as he notably ages, his parents don't (even though I think that's how they did Dick Grayson), but that's another thing. And the Peter thing is also the issue Claremont made with Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor; Scott was gonna retire from the superhero gig like it was a regular job (even though he'd still face racism regardless), and when Jean was revived, they had to throw Scott back at her and screw over Cable and Madelyne.
Another issue is comics have a toxic competitive attitude as well, believing you can only have one or the other: the OG or the Legacy. This is why so many DC Legacy characters (Tim Drake, Impulse, Spoiler, Kon-El, Cassie Sandsmark, etc) are usually ignored, as comics don't know how to balance newer characters without it being them "taking away" from the original characters. As such, having kids may be seen as a matter of replacing the old characters. As an X-Men fan, I've noticed an interest in introducing newer, younger mutants in titles rather than using the many underrated mutants who already exist, as if they're being marketed as the "next big thing."
Batman and Catwoman probably would be the best couple in DC had Tom King given them that happy ending at the end of his run. I still can't believe that Selina just left Bruce at the altar like that.

My favorite couple in comics isn't from comics believe or not. In JLU, The Question and Huntress got together and it was honestly one of my favorite parts from the show. They start off as hostile towards each other because Question is a conspiracy theorist and Huntress is trying to avenge her family, but eventually they end up trusting each other and becoming close enough to share personal secrets like The Question uncovering the truth about Baskin Robbins.

The problem with comic couples is that their quality varies from writer to writer, era to era, just based on what the person behind them wants or thinks the audience wants to see. Clois is I think the most dramatic example, it can go from annoying gaslighting in some older books to literally making me believe in love in others.
There’s also the problem of always needing drama and dramatic bullshit to happen to keep readers interested. Frankly I’m more interested in a couple supporting each other through hard times than petty fights and misunderstandings.

Artimus and Wally are what couple start as and Cannery and Arrow are what they're like after spending years together and being comfortable with and around one another.......... Honestly DC writes better relationships than Marvel cuz I can't think of a single Marvel couple that don't have the Cyclops and Jean Gray dynamic

And personally I only know of T'chaka and Nakia the only time I've seen T'chaka and Monroe (Storm) as a couple is in the Young Avengers movie where they had a teenage son....... But we didn't get to know about their dynamic cuz Ultron did his thing
But Oliver and Canary are unicorns in super hero comics cuz they almost have no timeline or variants that go for other people they always end up together, even Hawkman and Shahira that are supposed soulmates have had other canon lovers but not the Arrow and Bird. And I love that tbh

Part of the reason I love Garfield and Raven, Artimus and Wally and Ollie and Canary just to name a few,cuz most times these are the most constant partners, although with the flashpoint event,think Raven is Damien's girl now....... But I'm not even sure anymore since the animated -verse is getting rebooted so we'll see if DC ruins great relationships moving forward
Rogue & Gambit is one of my favorite marvel relationships, how Remy can choose any girl in the world but is devoted to the one person he cannot physically touch. And how Rogue loves Gambit and wants nothing more than to be with him, but keeps him at a distance to not risk hurting him.

I refuse to see Deadpool as a hero, as much as he is more of a villain and a lover of Copycat.
Rogue and Gambit are a personal favourite. They've been married in the comics for a few years now (not including X-Men '97 lol) and they're each other's ride or dies. Both equally respect each other and have a great partnership while still having the occasional fight here and there, but always working it out together in the end. Their power levels are similar and when they're on a team, usually they're on a team together.
if we are talking specific shows i love how Starfire and Robin were in teen titans, one of my all time favourite couples. And surprisingly Deadpool, i would never thought i'll say this but Deadpool throughout his three movies and Vanessa are perfect marvel movie couple, Deadpool is vey passionate about her and she always there to support him, and i love that in all three movies most of his motivation is built around Vanessa
There was another woman who was perfect for Deadpool. It was Siryn. Unfortunately, Wade’s relationship with her was basically forgotten by Marvel, which is a shame considering how good they both were together, even though it was for a brief period.
They were a couple in the comics, and should have been kept that way.
Artemis and Wally were always my favourite couple in Young Justice. It broke my heart when Wally died, and seeing Artemis go through the grief of losing him was super painful to see. I was waiting the whole series for him to come back (I assumed he was just trapped in the speed force), but he never did 😔

After watching My Adventures with Superman & Superman & Lois, they're still a great couple (despite the few arguments they have). Lois fell for Clark Kent not because he's Superman, but because he inspires optimism & a simplistic view of life in contrast to her more jaded perspective on how the world works.

She only works when they're dating. And even then Lois isn't as good as a love interest as Diana is for Clark.

I want to say that Nightwing/Dick Grayson's character was supposed to grow up to get out of Batman's shadow and be his own man, but later in the season's of Young Justice he literally becomes really Nightwing with Batman's mindset and the thing I didn't like at all about Nightwing as the seasons progress was when he was taking orders from Batman, like last time I checked he wasn't his sidekick anymore, he was his own man and his own hero and he wan't to be a better hero than Batman.
Thats the thing with nightwing, no matter how independent he is he always follows batman. Unlike red hood

I got traumatized as a kid by watching that one batman animated movie where he and batgirl were arguing on a rooftop then they just kiss and fuck on the rooftop.
Ik you said not to say shit about batman, but like, the fact that he doin it with Gordon's daughter and there was nothing that prompted that interaction between them made me look at Batman in a different way.
As a kid?! That sounds horrible. Tbh I think it was just that one time, and got a lot of backlash. Plus comic fans are good at ignoring bad writing and cherrypicking canon so we can pretend it didn't happen as it's OOC.
Dick Grayson X Kori is my favorite DC couple but the writers are always trying to keep them apart. They just fit. Dick Grayson is an adopted son of Batman and has inherted some dark moodiness from him and Star is complex because, despite all the hardships she's been through, she's still a sweetheart and when she's with Grayson they're both so happy. Just let them be happy DC!

I always loved Chloe and Oliver's relationship at the end of Smallville, for the same reason you mentionned. They got to grow individually before getting together and never are annoying or self-centered.
Not bad on its own but if I had 2 nickels for times when Oliver queen showed up in live action and chose a blonde hacker chick over black canary I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

Another love interest that I personally love is Spiderman and Sophia Sanduval (Aka Chat). One of (if not) the best love interest for both Spiderman and Peter Parker
Not only is she the complete opposite of what Raimi's MJ and Iris West in terms of the "Me Me Me" couple. She is the first person who comes to mind when talking about great love interest. Also, she has powers, too.

My favourite comic couple is Songbird and Mach-X from the Thunderbolts. Now, grossly mishandled after a certain point, but #1-75 of the original title is just *chef’s kiss. They both had their own struggles and arcs, but really complimented each other and helped the other to grow, while still being their own independent characters

I’m dying on this hill. Felicia is the worst possible love interest for Peter in-universe. They are not like Bruce and Selina. Black Cat doesn’t care about Peter, she cares about the thrill of the chase and that’s something that Selina eventually moves on from

Absolutely. I think it depends but people really try to pretend civilian love interests are the best kind when historically...they're just not. Now not all of them are bad mind you. Peter and mary jane are one of the best. And lois and clark are good. But people try to act like thats the norm even though mark and eve, elektra and matt, batman and catwoman show that MORE often than not the better choice is a person who exists in their world. Like I love lois and clark but superman and wonder woman are definitely better. And people will agree with every reason you can give for why they work until you actually use their names. Then magically there's this crowd who's been told for years they don't work suddenlt saying a bunch of things that prove they don't actually read the stories like that or pay attention to their interactions.

Gotta disagree with Batman and Catwoman, that relationship is often REALLY unhealthy with both trying to pull the other to their side (Bruce trying to make Selena more of a hero and Selena trying to make Bruce more selfish).
Bruce and Talia make more sense honestly even though it's a similar setup and they at least had a bond deep enough that they had a child together even if they couldn't commit to each other.

I love Young Justice, indeed Wally and Artemis are my favorite characters individually, and of course they are my favorite couple in the entire show.
I still wish that if the show comes back they can bring back Wally. But if they don't, I hope Artemis is fully happy with her second boyfriend, Jason Bard. I really want Artemis to be happy.
What made the couple of Wally and Artemis so special to me, is that care and understanding between them. Seriously, they are the best couple on the show. It's incredible how because of them I don't particularly ship Wally with his wife in the comics, Linda Park, anymore. If they couple create a new timeline were Artemis Crock is the wife of Wally West in comics, I'd read the heck out of those comics.

when she was pregnant mark got sent to another dimension for like 6 months she broke up with him which led to the incident then u have the time travel incident where mark gone for 5 years where she’s end up dating another dude cuz she though he was dead so it helps when they both hero’s but it doesn’t go away if party are heroes
I really, really loved the way Invincible did relationships. It was real, relatable and often sweet yet heartbreaking.
While I don't fully subscribe to the heroes should only date heroes thought process I won't deny it does typically make for a more entertaining story. You skip the whole "but I can't tell them I'm a hero without putting them in danger" crap, both of you are heroes and leads to a greater deal of communication because both of you get the circumstances and conditions you have to work under.

I'm one of the 5 people who knew Artemis from comics as an ISA villain who probably never met Wally and was older than him, so finding out they were a thing in YJ was... strange. But WRMZ and the fans make a good argument for them, and I'm honestly just happy to see good couples who are fairly happy at this point. Also I'm so here for the GA/BC love.

@@Frostalteredand there are plenty of “timelines” where they are toxic (Tom King’s Batman was codependent, Gotham War/Tini Howard, pre-crisis where she tries to kill both Batman and his gf, New 52..). If anything, it’s cherry picking to look for the few universes where they work out.

Comic couples that have never cheated on each other are GOATED. That's why I stick to the TV series and movies... though Xmen 97 ruined that a bit for me.
I couldn't bring myself to like artemis and wally because linda and wally are such a well developed and thought-out couple in the comics. It might also be because I'm not the biggest fan of wallys character in young justice, it was alright just not my favourite.

My all time favorite is also *by far* Batman and Catwoman, I mean come on...they're practically made for each other and just so freakin' hot!! Love Green Arrow and Black Canary as well, I fr dropped the CW show once they made Felicity the main love interest, didn't see the chemistry, never will (though the Black Canaries in the show were also a*s, let's be real). And I haven't seen Young Justice but this honestly made me want to watch it, I'm seriously weak for the enemies to lovers trope.
