    Thanks so much for making and sharing this video. I knew many of the facts, but learned a few new things. This year, I have been fortunate enough to watch a few of the young ones along a river not to far from me and noticed some of the things in the video. Twice today, one of them came up with just green stuff and starting to thrash it about. The other day, I watched as they would fly to the water and practice little dips into the water. Such a thrill to watch. Glad the young are not as skittish as the parents.

      Thanks Rudy. The key for me was to locate the nesting site. Then place a pop up blind near there. The blind was left at location the entire nesting season. As far as the kingfisher was concerned there was nothing new.
      Good luck.

    Tim, this is outstanding work, Ernie’s still photos are amazing also, I know how elusive the kingfisher is, how did you get the camera footage outside the nest, I know there was several remote cameras used at the various made perches, that were left on location but how did you get to tend to batteries and memory without disturbing the king fishers?

    • @TimTorell
      @TimTorell  4 роки тому +6

      Allan Morris Thanks, it was a long process but totally worth the effort. I’d get to the location before light and set cams, the king fisher were still in the nest. A variety of cameras were used, GoPro remotely controlled from a blind. Sony and canon video cameras operated from a blind.

    Wonderfully done, thank you. I learned a lot. I saw my first Kingfisher hovering over the water at our cottage this week, and wanted to learn more about them. There are no bluffs for them to nest in along our area so this one must have travelled a bit to fish near our shore, as it is shallow and still there.

    Thank you for this Tim, I learned a lot. I've only seen a few kingfishers from far away, was not sure where to look for them on a consistent basis. The other day, while shooting some egrets in a low tree, I got home and realized there was a female belted in the shot. I've been researching so I can try to get some better shots. This helps a lot.
