On the bus seat thing: yes, a thousand times yes to John. I'm a recent cancer survivor and while I look like a totally normal healthy person + a dramatic scar on my arm, I actually have waaay less energy and balance than the average 21 year old, so I need seats both so that I can preserve my energy and so that I don't, like, fall on people when the bus/metro car speeds/slows/turns. This leads to super-fun situations like middle-aged people glaring at me because they believe that I am healthy and as people who are older than me, I owe them the seat. Which leads to fun rants about ungrateful youths.

On the plus side you're very pretty and have excellent grammar so screw the old people and also screw cancer :)

If you don't mind speaking about it, just tell them the truth. If they're at all decent people, they'll stop pestering you, and if they're not then you don't have to feel bad about taking the seat.

On top of the other things, remember what generation left the world in the horrible condition in which yours now receives it. That's right, the "ungrateful youth" ranting generation.

Oh my gosh, yes! I'm lucky enough that I don't have to take public transport often, but I have chronic fatigue and a whole bunch of other invisible illnesses, but I'm 16 and, well, my illnesses are invisible so people assume that pretty much anyone needs the seat more than I do.

John has been my favorite author for the past three years, after I read the fault in our stars. I read every single book of his and I started loving him a hundred times more than I did. Then one day around two years back I stumbled across this channel and I was just like, "wow"
All his videos have a meaning and are deep. They are all amazing and a food for thought.
what I mean to say is, I love him and I'm waiting for a new book. x

This has nothing to with this video, but I wanted to say it anyway. On a recent, and very long, car trip, my family and I listened to The Fault in Our Stars via audiobook and it was amazing. I laughed out loud and even though I desperately wanted not to cry in a car full of my family members, I cried. A lot. Anyway, thank you for writing it. It's a reference to T. S. Eliot's "The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock", specifically the last lines of
We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown.
It's a wonderful Eliot poem to act as an introduction to his writing, but as with all Eliot I heartily recommend having some sort of reader or companion to the text which will explain some of his allusions, as any Eliot poem can be extremely dense with them.

Last night, as I was driving my 45 hour commute home from Dr. Phillips, Fl to Winter Park Fl, i was listening to Paper Towns on CD. As the main characters ascend to the top of the Sun Trust building, I drove past the Sun Trust building. As Margo tells Q to exit at Princeton (which by the way is not the appropriate exit to go to college park), I was exiting on Princeton. This was weird. And yet so, so very cool.

Haha thank you! I saw your other comment, and I love the last part (well, I love the entire poem), but my favorite bit is: "I have seen the moment of my greatness flicker, / And I have seen the eternal Footman hold my coat, and snicker, / And in short, I was afraid." And, of course, "I should have been a pair of ragged claws / Scuttling across the floors of silent seas." T. S. Eliot was a genius.

Oh, and the thing is that, while I don't doubt that I'm not trusting her as much as I think, the reason why I was upset about him liking him behind my back is bc it seemed liked she didn't trust me. But I understand your point and you're probably right about everything and I appreciate the help.

I went to MoMA in NYC alone because I wanted to see Starry Night by Van Gogh. Such a wonderful experience.

My heart leapt with the T.S. Eliot reference at the end there! 'Until human voices wake us and we drown.'

Bought Fahrenheit two days ago and I was reading it in a coffee shop on the stairs and I kept feeling like I was sitting on staircases inside the book watching the story progress, it was unlike any book experience I've ever had...

One way i found nerdfighters in my area was by leaving nerdfighter notes in John Green books in my local bookstore and my email address. I found 5 nerdfighters near me, one that goes to my school!
