One of my favorite things about this episode is Xavier's most powerful gift. It isn't his telepathy. It's his gift as a teacher. I think that is so awesome.

While Vestigial Wings mostly disappeared in modern Shi'ar, some were genetic throwbacks, such as Deathbird.[12] For that throwback, Deathbird was considered a mutant.[13]
I don't think Xavier was "sent" a message by anyone, or "watching" everyone from afar. I think he just felt the massive psychic reverb of a million lives getting burnt out of existence. With that came echoes of what they were doing preceding their deaths.
After watching all original 5 seasons before watching this series, I can say confidently thou although with no blood or deaths, the original series was really mature.

i feel like the reason Charles saw gambit instead of magneto is probably since magnus isn't dead (maybe) but also his just a friend as gambit is like a son to him so he loves gambit more
Kinda cool how you guys and Rob from Comics Explained are catching me up on the history of everything. I learned from Rob that Charles saying "They were dancing. Drinking wine. Making love." was a direct quote from the comic.
After finding out the Shi'ar are descended from birds, I think thier "goofy hair" is because its not hair but made out of feathers. I think that would also explain why the phoenix symbol has the indents in it as welll.
While Vestigial Wings mostly disappeared in modern Shi'ar, some were genetic throwbacks, such as Deathbird.[12] For that throwback, Deathbird was considered a mutant.[13]
Charles Xavier's walking armor is a 90s throwback. He wore a Shi'ar exoskeleton that he had previously gotten from Lilandra during Kubert and Nicieza's run of the X-Men comics (Fatal Attractions crossover), but wearing it actually exhausted his mental energy so he didn't use it that much except in outer space.
15:15 ish. Charles is referring to Shi'ar beliefs, he says: "I thought the Shi'ar considered art a form of insanity." He's not making "a dig" at them. He's referencing what the Shi'ar themselves have said about art in their texts. Gladiator then clarifies that this statue is the one exception to it all basically. Face your demons head on and you'll catch them off guard.
I think the reason Charles sees Gambit and not Magneto is because he has more of a paternal relationship with Gambit. Sure, Magneto is his friend, but he views Gambit as one of his children, someone he feels need to protect.
Nightcrawler being added to the intro: Ballin' but at what cost? Also, Forge's mystical abilities (at least based in the comics) are rooted in him being a Native American shaman

The shiar cutting other planets down while offering to save them is a direct parallel to Forge talking about how the colonists set themselves up on native land just to genocide them.
The statue of Sharra and K'ythri that Xavier and Gladiator are standing in front of is from the 1995 miniseries "Starjammers" illustrated by the late great Carlos Pacheco. The animators even presented it in his distinct art style. Making me choke up two episodes in a row? Thanks, Marvel.

16:12 Uhhh I don't think Rudyard Kipling's poem 'The White Man's Burden' critiqued western imperialism but instead was promoting it. Hence why Charles describes Kipling as "one possessed of many burdens. None real". An important difference I think.
