Mike Florio responds to Nick Wright's comments on Patrick Mahomes | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
/ nflonnbc - Спорт
Yooo how is Florio this funny 😂😂 "10 paragraphs of word salad" dude you be having me weak lmao
Nick definitely was saying it light heartedly and jokingly. He was making a comment on how there’s nothing going on in football right now, so much so that we’re talking about the retirement of a 28 year old player.
And I feel like any publicity for PFT should be a good thing no matter what. Nick mentioned florio by name on national television and called him his friend
@@ericharden6832 I'm glad somebody actually understood he was joking
@@tylerasweet exactly. Florio obviously didn’t see the take, just going off what somebody told him the kc star said.
Right Nick was joking around. He wasn’t being serious. Fans need to stop taking his takes so seriously.
So he doesn’t actually believe Caleb is better than Lamar?
Wright has a schtick he does for entertainment purposes on the show and, for sure, it’s overblown. But come on, bringing up the retirement question for a QB who’s 28 and currently the best in the game IS weird. And I KNOW you’re not a hater. But, it just is, objectively so. Btw, if you count the years between Patrick and his 45th birthday, there’s no reason to ask that question anytime soon. I’m guessing you didn’t have much to write about and a Mahomes story is probably as good a go to as anything.
There's nothing to say... You said first reid is retiring and now your saying a 28 year old is thinking about retiring when he's just reaching his prime. Makes no sense y not burrow or ????
Meanwhile, Joe Burrow is 15 months younger than Mahomes and has already had two season-ending injuries alongside one Super Bowl appearance where the Bengals coughed up a lead and lost. So. . . HOW MUCH LONGER WILL JOE BURROW PLAY?
Why u even bring this up? This about Pat
The refs cost burrow that game helping kc
You just played this clown like a piano, in only a few sentences. Nicely done!
The answer to this is Mahomes has 3 rings. Burrow has 0 so he's still hot on the chase of 1. Depending on how he's wired, at some point Mahomes will have done it ALL. Why grind through more seasons? Not everybody is wired like Brady. I mean even Jordan took a break. It's a hard grind that requires the sacrifice of your family. It was easy for Brady to do in his younger years, but as you age, that becomes way more difficult. In the celebration video his kids made for him when Brady was inducted into the Pats HOF, his kids made it clear, they don't want him to play anymore. Mahomes will reach that at some point.
This is proof the bengals live rent free in chiefs fans heads
Florio need to understand that Nick was making lighthearted friendly jokes.
Nick Wright believes Bronny deserves a place in the NBA and defends Lebuy James like he's his wife. You really think he makes lighthearted jokes? Those are sneers.
@@cesco1990 lol chill out
Yes he is. He does it all the time.
@@cesco1990, it’s not that serious.
@@cesco1990 Bronny does deserve a place in NBA. kid may not be a superstar but he is a role player.
Bro is 28 and you talking bout retirement last year it was any Reid and Travis Kelce now you on Mahomes Chris jones next lmao
Reid,Kelce & Jones are closer than Mahommes. Only way that would change would be a major injury for Mahommes that wouldn't allow him to play to the standard he holds himself to.
@@kb9826Mahomes 10 year contract expires after 2029-30, Andy Reid’s new extension runs through 2029-30 and will be 72 by then and more than likely retire. Kelce is retiring in 2-3 years, Chris Jones in 3-5 and Steve Spagnuolo. I think it’s fair that these clues hint that Mahomes is planning to play 6 more years to finish his contract where he’ll then be 34-35 with very possibly 4-5 rings and 3-4 MVP’s. His legacy would be set having won 4-5 rings at a much faster pace than Tom Brady
@@Jeads5678 This is an exercise in futility. lol
Reid, Kelce, Jones, and Spags are way more closer to retirement than Mahomes is. But all of those guys are the core of the team though.
@@Jeads5678and then he’ll get another 5 year extension.
You're talking about Pat like he's almost 40. Dude's not even 30 lol, what are you talking about?
Patrick Mahomes has plenty of football 🏈 left in him still at 28. It’s gonna come down to his health and his family. Since SB55 Veach vowed to provide him with protection and weapons for as long as he’s on the field, based on that he could play until he’s 45 or longer. He loves playing football 🏈 so I don’t expect him to stop anytime soon.
He's a pocket passer. He could play into his late 30s with ease. He also seems to really enjoy the game. This whole discussion is short bus material
@@mitchellcorona1757, extactly he does and Florio is messing himself up by coming up with this nonsense. Just enjoy Mahomes playing.
Maybe Mike should give Nick a call.
It’s the slow sports season so if we’re going to speculate on when Patrick will retire here’s a clue. His 10 year contract expires after the 2029-30 season, Andy Reid’s new extension expires after the 2029-30 season and will be 72 more than likely ready to retire and Mahomes will be 34-35 by then having played 12 seasons. Kelce is retiring in 2-3 years, Jones in 3-5 years as well as Steve Spagnuolo. They are playing out the rest of this decade hoping to be the first team ever to 3 Peat for ring 4 and could have 4-5 rings by 2030 and go down as the most dominant team of all time. Patrick will play out the rest of his contract and retire as a 4-5 time champ having won his 4th & possibly 5th ring at a significantly faster rate than Tom Brady with 3-4 MVP’s. His legacy will be set
Mahomes is not retiring in 5 seasons. That’s absurd. Mayfield, Watson, Goff, Dak, Carr, Geno, Russell Wilson, Cousins, Stafford, Rodgers are all older than Mahomes. Cousins just got a monster 3 year contract at the age you’re speculating he may retire. If we’ve learned anything from Mahomes, it’s that he’s never going to leave something at “good enough”.
@@thefiguredudeAll those names you mentioned have not accomplished nearly what Mahomes has accomplished in his first 6 years. The dude has 3 rings, 3 SB MVP’s & 2 league MVP’s already and you’re telling me in another 6 years where he will likely be a 4 or 5X champ & 3-4X MVP he won’t go out at age 34-35 with Reid, Kelce retiring in 2-3 years, Jones in 3-5 & Spagnuolo? The dude will have nothing to prove. Tom Brady has warped everyone’s minds into thinking everyone should & play into their mid 40’s. Patrick already said he will prioritize his kids over football. In 6 years his daughter will be 9. Brady could never let football go and fans praised it but look what it did to his family life 🤷♂️
It comes down to injuries. Brady said once, the nfl is a demolition derby. At some point the body cant take that beating anymore. Kelce said on his podcast he has had 10 surgeries.
Florio dropping the bomb on fandom. Just cause he’s favorite team isn’t the chiefs doesn’t mean he wasn’t objective.
It’s also fair to point out that most of Florio’s Chiefs takes are about how soon he can see the dynasty disabled and how he can hurry it along: When is Andy going to retire? When is Mahomes going to demand more money? When is Mahomes going to retire? Etc.
Yepp... nothing bt a pure hater that can't stand the rise of the next big thing closing in on Brady
When is Andy Reid going to retire too and Reid is going to be here for six more seasons. Pat is going to play 12-15 more seasons. Kelce two more seasons. Florio if you love the Chiefs man you have a funny way of showing. Stop talking about Reid retiring, Mahomes getting more money, let’s see, stop talking about Mahomes retiring. Maybe you should retire.
You forgot criticizing Kelce and Jones for not asking for more money etc
@@thatstheway2429 , yep he’s done that too.
Who is asking Patrick Mahomes how long is he playing? Mike I can't defend you on this one
It’s not that serious. It’s a simple question
@@dillMANbaby It's irrevelant though. If he said this about Kirk Cousins Aaron Rodgers Matthew Standford those QBs that would have made more sense
Mahomes is literally 28 years old what are even doing here 😂
Mike you have been calling for Chiefs to retire for a year or more. The Andy retirement talks then this what you think people going to say.
I like both these dudes, but Florio is right if you’ve got a problem with what your boys says…give him a call.
I actually didn’t know Florio picked Chiefs both these last years. Hats off
Has anyone ever talked about a (not even) 29 year old retiring when he hasn’t even been injured? It’s just really weird to talk about regardless
Yeah. Running backs maybe 😂
You’re right florio other people will eventually ask when hes gonna retire so why not be the first even if it’s ridiculous. Way to go man
What he is trying to say is love it while it lasts. The only constant is change. And yes I am loving it.😊
I think part of the backlash from chiefs kingdom is this. At first they said don’t hype him up yet we don’t know and now that everyone knows we are going to start talking about it being over. Just let him have his day.
Florio, you are way to early about Mahomes retiring. This conversation should take place in about 6 years from now.
It's just talking Mike. It's summer time we bored
Literally nobody was talking about Mahomes retiring. Dude is 28 years old he’s playing another 12-15 years.
My guess is 10 more seasons
I watch both shows although not consistently since I don’t have much free time- but I love both shows! I just saw this and was like oh wow! I know it probably couldn’t happen, but I would LOVE to see both you both do a show! First things first vs PFT would be amazing! 🎉🎉
Bought me over by bashing the KC Star
5:58 the only rebuttal I have is your earliest example of talking retirement was farce who was 4 years older before we discussed it. Therefore you are very early
The problem with

He makes those crazy takes on purpose. Do you really think he thinks the Chiefs are going 20-0 every year? That’s not realistic, and people get so mad when he predicts it lmmfao 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂they get all riled up and act like immature babies.
And Florio lets his disdain for a dynasty affect his job.

Friendly reminder that there are rumors that Florio is seriously considering retiring.
I mean, how can he continue to keep doing this? He’s clearly past his prime.
I think it's a little too soon to talk about Pat retiring. I don't think Mike is necesarily wrong for asking it. When he hits 35 or gets injured or his production drops off, then, yeah, that would be a question.
I’m surprised Nick was able to stop gargling Mahomes marbles long enough to speak.
I don't hate the chiefs, but I do love their Super Bowl hangover.
Back2back...
Is this due to old age? I don't remember florio being this absurd with his takes a few years ago. How can anyone take him seriously!? I think im officially florio'd out
Whenever topics like this come up it makes me mad, not about the player, but brady. His marriage was already wrecked why not see how long a human can play qb at an adequate level. Perhaps the bucs weren't great, but brady had 4000+ yards. He was they guy whom should have played until his backup was better than him. When would that have happened? Maybe 46, 48 perhaps even 50. I'm a bit agnostic toward brady, but it's clear he was the guy to real life prove whats possible in human performance in terms of age for quarterbacking. He wanted to also, but he tried to play middle of the road so he retired too early & lost his marriage. He either should have retired in 2020 or 2027, nothing in between.
An amazing talent who over achieves in his sport early and doesn't want to risk further physical damage to his body could retire early. But Mike isn't looking at the passion and drive that gets players like Mahommes to where they are. No way he retires early.
Exactly. As long as Patrick doesn’t have a serious injury, particularly one above the neck, and he is still performing at an elite level, he will keep playing.
love florio, love mahomes, love wright. i was here b4 mahomes and ill b here after mahomes. CHIEFS FAN 4 LIFE!!!! and GO ROYALS!!!
Anything for a story in June
If i were to pick my poison Florio > Wright 😂
The problem with Nick Wright is he can't differentiate between "truth telling" and "hating". He can't handle the truth and he doesn't know football at all
None of these sports commentators do. All of them have issues with stuff you are talking about.
I disagree.
Nick is a gambler, and he knows his stuff.
I'd take Nick's opinions any day over SAS, Skip, and maybe even Shannon's.
Yes, Nick can be an irritant, but I'll give him his due on football.
As far as this, Florio beef is concerned. Florio is way off base.
Florio is taking an interview with Randi Mahomes for granted.
I love my mom, with all my heart, but I've been out from under her room since 1990.
Sometimes mom's are just talking without substance and are using emotions as their base.
Florio is reaching again.
@@EnterpriseNCC-1701 , I like Nick Wright he has a ton of enthusiasm I just could live without the 20-0 takes. Skip Bayless is awful. Stephen A Smith is horrible, Mike Florio is pathetic too. Nick has been really good. He has picked the Chiefs the last two times winning in the SB he’s got that right. He talked about the Bills retooling their roster he was right about that because they had to let go of several people with huge contracts and players that were injury prone. I still remember that year in 2022 when everyone said the Chiefs would finish in 4th place. He nailed it right, and said the Chiefs would win the AFC West that year. I couldn’t believe the takes I heard that year. These clown commentators really thought the Broncos and Raiders were going to be better then the Chiefs. Chargers I had no issues with because everyone picks them every year. But the Broncos and Raiders? People must have really lost their minds of what common sense they really had that year. They really thought Tyreek Hill being gone would affect the offense and honestly it didn’t.
@derekmathews1557
Facts.
Nick did correctly predict all of that.
I think he's correct on the Chargers this season, too.
Harbaugh will make a difference, but not immediately.
And yes, those crazy 20 and 0 takes have to stop.
@@EnterpriseNCC-1701 , that’s the way I feel too: I just don’t see that much of an immediate impact. But definitely next year for sure Harbaugh and the Chargers become a threat.
Hey Mike Florio, you showed how you feel about the Chiefs and Mahomes. Way back in Superbowl 54 when you made a comment about a certain 49er player taking a shot at Mahomes, basically saying hurt Mahomes on T.V. . But you love him , yeah right.
Florio and wright need to drop diss tracks. Awaiting the new Kendrick and drake fued
😂
It's my opinion, based on my media consumption over the last couple of years, that Florio *is* s**t/pot stirrer. As far as Mahomes and the Chiefs goes, first it was "Andy Reid is about to retire, then it was "How can Mahomes be okay with not being the highest paid QB?", and now he's combined the two with this "Mahomes is already considering retirement" nonsense. Florio does it for clicks, views, and engagement.
However, as a KC area resident I can say that Florio is 100% spot on in his criticism/critique of the KC Star.
Well people know what he’s doing. He’s sick and tired of the Chiefs winning. He’s obvious about it too.
Mike I like your trust in the Chiefs, as do I like Nick's trust in the Chiefs.
Mahomes is better at quarterback than Brady, and earlier. Side note- Brady's "7th ring" was parachuting into a team full of all stars on every level. And don't even look at how the refs hilariously escorted him through so many close games that turned into 'wins'. Aging stars , like every QB, need a great supporting cast. But landing on a clearly ready-made Super Bowl competitive dream team doesn't cement anything in terms of "the greatest" QB. .5-6 QBs likely could have taken that TB team to a super bowl. It wasn't an "only Brady can take us to the SB situation". That's why as clear as his talent is, he probably knows he's only the greatest if you ignore a lot of situational tail winds he benefitted from his entire career. Yes, Mahomes had offensive weapons early on, and has finally gotten defensive support. But Mahomes 'didn't get the ball back' and "tough sht". (whereas Josh Allen didn't get the ball back and they changed the rules.) Mahomes has had a steeper climb, achieved more, and displayed as much or more raw talent than the talented Tom Brady.
Doesn't the phone work both ways if that's your argument?
Nick Wright represents one of the issues in sports talk. He lives vicariously through Mahomes ,isn't objective, and takes all of the Mahomes takes personally.
So does Skip Bayless. , Nick Wright, and Colin Howherd are all the same person. Skip Bayless is a Cowboys fans and Brady fanboy. Skip Bayless lives through the Cowboys and Brady. One thing Brady fans do is they never listen to anybody. They are never objective, and anybody that criticizes Brady gets blasted. Brady fans can dish it out but they can’t take it. Nick Wright is a Chiefs fan. He’s from KC,MO. He like a lot of real Chief fans had to wait 30 years for the organization to finally draft an elite quarterback like Mahomes and a a generational quarterback.
@derekmathews1557 There's reasonable bias, and then there's those guys. But I will admit at the risk that you may think I'm biased that I fully believe Brady is better than Mahomes. But I think Nick acts like he's defending himself when he talks about Mahomes. Skip has issues, but he's right about Brady. And Cowherd is a flip-flopping front runner.
@@jahprime6932 , if you think Brady is better than Mahomes that’s fine I have no issue with that. I don’t know I don’t really believe or trust Bayless about anything. His tales are too out there. This is the same guy that thinks Joe Burrow is better than Patrick Mahomes. He thinks Burrow outplayed Mahomes in the most recent AFC Championship and I know that’s not true.
@derekmathews1557 you're right. I flat out think Brady is better. But Skip is such phony at times. I think he said that just to make the Brady Mahomes comp look foolish.
@@jahprime6932 that’s right. Skip is phony. He really made a big deal about Mahomes not ever having had a playoff road win. Mahomes, Mahomes wins 2 in one year and Skip says nothing.
Florio- projection is a really thing… and this video is a great example. B/c it’s totally not bull… you’re obviously reaching. So, you’re saying your point is, “hey one day Mahomes is gonna get questioned about retiring?” That’s your point, thats your argument… really? Why don’t you say the same thing about CJ Stroud, Caleb Williams, Joe Burrow? B/c its a point that is a total non story- unless you are trying to drum up click bait or cause controversy where there is none, or so sick of a team’s dominance and you are hopelessly looking toward a day when its over… dude ya need to drop and move on… you’re skating close to Skip… please don’t- you’re better than that.
Nick Wr8ght is the biggest Chiefs "fan",is why he reacted that way
Mentioning it again because it’s a slow sports news day 😂
This is wild
You are getting backlash because you are making a big deal out of a story that likely won’t be relevant for ten years. This is click bait, nothing more.
This is not the first time Nick Wright has played fast and loose with the facts on his show...
There's no doubt that Nick can't be objective when it comes to Mahomes and the Chiefs. He is a complete fan boy. Yet, he's still hella entertaining and has good takes when it comes to other teams. Although he's too tough on Purdy. Lol!
Let me ask you something? Are we all fanboys in real life? He is. I mean Bengal fans, Eagle fans, and Whiner fans are the worst fan boys. Raven fans are never objective either. One ounce of criticism about Lamar Jackson and they lose their mind. I laugh at the people that overrate Patrick Mahomes and say stuff about his family, his voice, calling him Kermit it’s pathetic 😂😂😂😂😂😂Oh he’s a great actor, I mean it’s all laughable.
I live in KC area. I call the trash paper the Kansas City Scar. Hardly see copies for sale here as no one wants to see their trash. I like Wright most of the time and clearly he was wrong to say that about your analysis.
His brother publically SAd a woman on camera and leveraged his fanbase to harass her into silence and life ruination. While he sat by and did nothing. He isn’t a good person. He’s genuinely one of the worst people to grace the league. People not talking about him using his audience to get his brother off on a SA that was recorded is insane. It’s almost like Mike Florio gets paid by the league to pretend he’s a critic
LMMFAO to say that Patrick Mahomes is not a good person is the most absurd and outrageous take I have ever seen. Tell me what the hell does Mahomes retiring have to do his brother publically SAD a woman on camera? I will tell you? Absouletely nothing. Mahomes brother isn’t the good person here. Mahomes brother needs to be his own man, and stop expecting his mega star successful brother to bail him out of everything. Patrick Mahomes didn’t leverage his fanbase to harrass her into silence and life ruination. He did the best thing for his image and reputation by doing absolutely nothing. He absolutely sat by and did nothing. Why? Because getting involved in a scandal like that does not help Patrick. To say that Mahomes is the worst person to grace the league is pathetic. Do yourself a favor stop throwing Mahomes family members in his face acting like he is always bailing him out. That man got a job, a family of his own, he don’t have time to worry about his brother, or his father.
@@derekmathews1557 “He did a he best thing for him image and reputation which is nothing”. That right there is why he is a bad person. A good person would stand on their principles, even if it meant themself not benefiting. Also inaction is action. Would you argue a cop who watches someone commit a crime has no responsibility if they choose to do nothing?

Florio is a typical lawyer. So full of himself thinks he's the smartest man in the room. He runs his mouth everyday critiquing players, coaches, owners, and officials. And when the tables are reversed, he whines like the little child man he is.
I think Patrick Mahomes will retire at the age of 40 if he has not won as many or more then Tom Brady. If he wins his eighth Super Bowl before the age of 40, he may retire before the age of 40.
Superbowls are special. it’s hard to make it to one let alone win it.
Florio reaching deeeeeep into his bag of "what ifs?" with this take, good grief.
Amen Mike. Sports media is terrible these days.

Dang. Hit piece on the KC Star. Oil and corn is subsidized, journalism isn't. Gotta make some cash. And you characterized Patrick retiring like it's gonna be in the next few years. You're right, he's not going to play fifty years but he will probably play at least ten more. Just a little disingenuous to suggest we should start thinking about the post Mahommes era. I like it when you cover legal stuff though.
Florio digging the hole deeper. This is such a dumb take. He's 28. Nobody is thinking about asking mahomes when he's retiring. This is his wet dream because he wants the vikings or some other team to have a chance. My guess is it's the same reasoning why he had "sources" that said Andy Reid was going to retire a year ago.
Have a filmed debate. Try a show once a week.

Ok sure the question is going to come up but do you really think it’s time to ask when a 3 peat is in sight? Are you serious?

Let me explain it to you Florio. Nick mostly makes his money talking about the future of the Chiefs. You are driving your car into his lane, and break checking him. What do you expect exactly?
It’s like asking Brady or Jordan when they will retire, when they were not even 30…and just started winning chips. When everyone knows they could play another 8- 10 years. It’s being stupid. Take an L Florio on this.
Dude just take your L

Calm down and stop being so sensitive.
It’s easy to think of 5 good reasons why Pat would walk away early. But we know that competitors like him compete until they can’t. If he wasn’t like that. He couldn’t be Patrick Mahomes. A day is going to come where he’ll have no coach Reid, Spags, Trav or Chris Jones and he’d probably rather be with him kids or in the MLB. But he’ll still QB for the chiefs, even without the guys he loves, even without the same results. That’s how he’s built even if he doesn’t know that 100% yet. If it was about money or titles he could quit today.
Think about it. If they win the SB this year, he'll have 4. Only 3 away from Brady. So that will give him 10 years to win 3 more SBs, and he can retire the GOAT at 38.
That’s what I said! I said he would retire at 37.
I get what you’re saying but does anybody take Nick Wright seriously😂

I doubt it’s going to win that many SBs.
I'm sure Florio contacted Mahomes, like any good reporter would do, for comment on how long he's going to play before he did his show and wasted everyone's time on a useless speculation about how long Mahomes will play. Hopefully, Florio retires before Mahomes. I wish I could take away credit for a view on this video because I didn't watch it, but I can't.

The reason florio even does stuff like this is to get chiefs fans riled up who probably listen to the most content of any fan right now which includes nick wright. True engagement farming as they say. In what world is bringing up mahomes retirement relatively relevant. Yes the question of retirement is coming so is the question of have you gotten your colonoscopy? Doesnt mean that question isnt years away from being relevant. I dont think florio hates the chiefs, just think hes looking for engagement.
That’s exactly right. What do you think that Nick Wright does? He does the same thing. Skip Bayless again does the same thing. Jason McIntyre does the same thing while cohosting with Colin Cowherd. Adam Rank, Bart Scott, Bucky Brooks, Micheal Robinson, they all have made takes to to rile up Chiefs fans lmmfao. Nick Wright does the same thing to rile up Niner fans, Eagle fans, Bengal fans, Raven fans, and Bill fans. Colin Cowherd is guilty of the same thing when he makes his annual NFL predictions. All of these commentators are guilty of making takes to rile up fans. That’s how they get engagement from their shows. That’s how ratings go up. I go along with it. SAS is probably the worst one at how he blasts Cowboy fans every year lmmfao 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂And they still comment on his takes. It works.

@@scottrowlandrowland1098, correct. They all know what they are doing.
Isn't he a multi-millionaire? You're worried about his future. I think he has everything well under control.
I mean, is this NOT what you wanted by even bringing it up? Why bring something up YEARS early if not for attention? We all know he won't play forever....DUH. So why bring it up now? He probably won't have to play til 45 to catch Brady 🤷
