So I recently came across one of your recent videos and I was blown away by your talent and generosity!!! Making this chess set for your grandpa was something he will cherish for future and future generations!! I am convinced there is no limit to your talents and your ideas!! Your grandpa will cherish this chess set for the rest of his days especially when he gets to play with you!!! Just think of the stories you will be able to tell future generations of your family!! If only I lived closer to you, so I could have a chance you would knock on my door to have a costume piece done!!
Being a woodworker/artist I was on the edge of my seat concerned for you.. Turned out very nice and seeing you walk grandpa in brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful moment.
He was right to fill the gaps with wood glue, but a handy tip is to mix the glue with sawdust from the timber you are working with until you have a thick paste. Trowel it into the gaps and sand back when dry. It makes it a very tough rigid fill that is a perfect match to your work. I have started collecting sawdust in containers and labelling them so I've always got a wood filler on hand for any timber.
That is a great technique! But in this case, with the two different woods, I would just use clear CA glue (rather than wood glue), and it will sand to a perfect color that will blend magically (and will have a strength that will be unmatched).
I went through so many emotions watching this video. The fear of you cutting off your finger, the laughing of eating the "glue", and amazement at the skill and patience, and the pride of making something for your fam. Noice!
he didnt, its edited but very slick. there is a frame jump before he lifts his finger and the substance is different and whiter, probably whipped cream.
I can’t even explain in words how brilliant you are in every way! More than amazing designer, inventor, artist, builder, energetic, funny, adorable, articulate loving, and caring genius, etc. I love the way you create thousands of things for your family and complete strangers and then get so excited to present them - and you’re only 20!! I’m a mom of 3 and a (hip) grandma of 5, and am obsessed with watching your videos. I would love to see you interviewed with your mom and hear your whole story, please! Maybe miraculously one day day you could create some of your beautiful art for us. Greatest love and respect! ❤🙏🏼
