Ride's solo is one of the best solos from kirk.
was creeping death's solo made by kirk??
thomfvc ya that's definitely a Kirk solo the note choice etc.
Its actually dave mustaines I think.
dopedpanda i don't like the ride the lightning solo, too long and too melodic when compared to the rest of the song.
No kirk said on that album Dave had nothing to do with the solos; and too melodic? Is that even a thing lol
I remember this tour. When Metallica was really tight. Saw them before Cliff died on that tour. Awesome. Will never forget seeing the big four back in the day in their prime.
i love how Metallica bust up there tempos live
Otis Fleming It's the cocaine.
@@robertvoss9111 lol
I have actual sheet music from Metallica and on a lot of songs they start at around 186 and then jump down to something like 160 in a single phrase, I don’t get it
@@scrumdiddily6162 they didnt care about actual theory they just wrote songs that sound good.
great song, and played at a diabolic speed, so cool
Crazy tempo!
Still the best band of all time!
Yup
I was born in 88 but i didnt find out about Metallica until 2001 they blew my mind and then some years later i saw them live I was blown away.
Oisin Osborne good for you dude. But this is also very sad to read. Your were SOOOO close to seeing them in their prime. You JUST missed the bus man lol
Imagine an 1-year-old baby headbanging in 1989 XD
Damn the solo's accuracy!!! :O
When Metallica ruled the fucking world!!!
Alvaro Moreno still do
They still do.
Kirk with the Jackson RR. Those were the days
He plays with it still
But once in a blue moon 😒
+Pasha S crazy idiot
I always feared it. Thought it would stab me in the eye or something lol
Saw them last night and he busted it out for sad but true
4 people WILL ride the lightning
5
+Bomber TimeMC360 4
+Sebastián Vergara 5
8 people wit feel the flames...
What a remarkable solo. Very rare to see solos that crisp and accurate these days. James' screams gave me chills
One of the earliest shows where James' voice starts to mature. Also one of the first with jason
ride the lightning with puppets tone
If you look at the ride the lightning in Mexico this year, kirk has got it again. He nailed the solo there like here
Saw them at the Manchester Apollo, brilliant show. Once I'd got in. Bus was late = missed Anthrax!! Doorman wouldn't let me in. Metallica already on. Couldn't find any roadcrew. Finally asked for help from 2 Police officers. The look on doorman face was priceless!
Great memories there Lee. Its a shame the scene just isn't like that anymore. We were lucky growing up in that era...
That's what I think all the time. A lot of today's music just doesn't do it for me.
None of today's music can hold a candle to the above video. That was when there was Metallica and then everybody else. They were the unstoppable force back then. Never be another band who nailed it like they did. Magical.
Bill Buckingham REAL DAMN LUCKY
Kirk just like a boss.... ripping fast solo
Shit,I was born in 1995,9 years after this shit came out ! Fuck, fuck, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck !
I like Metallica but seriously get your cancer out of here.
Truth ain't cancer! I know that feeling. I hate living in 2017! I should be born in 1965-1968.
This "being born in the wrong generation" shit is really fucking annoying. I was born in 2001 but I'm not complaining. Sure, I would have loved to have seen Metallica in their prime but I can't and there's only now and the future. I may see them later this year as a matter of fact. This ideology that good music only came out before 2000 is bullshit and there are plenty of modern bands (Periphery, Polyphia, Chon, The Contortionist, etc.) that I feel blow Metallica out of the water... well at least their new stuff. You've got to move forward. There is nothing to be gained by holding on to the past. Learn from it and move on. Everyone in 2017 (at least millennials ) wants to be a victim and wants to feel some kind of oppression or discrimination and being born in the wrong generation stems from that ideology.
Bro, chill out! Just because you can't accept that today's world is fucked and so is the music, doesn't mean it isn't true. I was born in 2001 too and I hate it. Sure, I love today's technology but, technology ain't perfecting my life! Back then, you wouldn't need a cellphone to be okay, or else you would die along with its battery. Technology is not everything. And by that I mean that, since the only good thing in this generation is technology and since technology is not everything, this generation fucking sucks serious ass. Back then, they had good music, good movies, good community (except for the punks) and in general, it was the best decade ever. And that is not coming only from me. It's coming from everyone else.
Hahaha sorry for you youngsters. 80's and 90's were the greatest of all times. You were born in the wrong generation.
Kirk is really putting his soul into it!
My favorite Metallica song ever
God they are fucking titans of metal.
they were
There's no way in hell you'll see a better setlist, fucking epic!
"how true is this, just get it overwith, if this is true just leeeeeeet it beeeeeee...."
I miss this time!🔥🔥✨
I was not around, i was born in 97 but found them when i was 3 in 2000 and it was good to look back to watch them on videos
I love this song and his solos
kirk was pissing metal in this era! great solo of a great song!
This is like the only video where Jason plays this songs
How about that demon scream at 3:08 by Jason?
Chris Rodriguez That's Jason being Jason he is Satan himself
That’s not Jason: that’s cliff
@@owenweesies4297 lmao, this is Jason on Quebec tour
I have to believe that 100 years from now people will still be listening to Metallica.
First time i saw these guys was in 1999... i wish i could see them in the 80s
that face at 2:13
I saw this exact same version but it was the full concert just from a different fans view and man was it amazing and it blows Seattle 89 out of the water for me

intramontabili metallica 👍👍👍✌
You can hear and feel the anger and frustration if James' voice :/
my mom was 16, and my grandparents are like 56 - 57
Please look at the description... and look for "7" in the setlist.
1:00 boss level with no healz
Well I didnt mean to like my own fucking comment, but to hell with it. I'm guilty as charged.
They should have got the crowd going before the solo. Fantastic video!
la mera verdad que si me gusta Mucho la música de metálica la original banda de Rock de San Francisco
Kirk smashes this gig.
🤘
i love you metallica!!!! :´D
Kirk hammered that solo.Damn near perfect
pues sí amigo, no habian más que tocar que puros clásicos xD (en ese tiempo aún no eran clásicos eh).
unfortunetly its age... james is just little younger then my grandparents and i am 22...
Amazing solo amazing vocals This is so fucking thrash
Damn, Kirk was accurate back then. Today he's pretty sloppy. I guess he's just getting old.
you guess...no shit have you looked at him lately..where the hell have you been
dudleypunch101
Actually Kirk has started getting better again. If you look at this year's live stuff, Kirk plays way better now. Actually they all play better now if you compare them to what they were a couple of years ago.
Kirk has really bad arthritis in his fingers apparently
I honestly think Kirk got bored with metal around the time of the Black Album but never had the nuts to quit like Alex Skolnick did with Testament or Marty Friedman did with Megadeth.
Blackjitsu
I thought Friedman quit because he wanted to stay thrash but Megadeth was moving in a different direction?
Kirk is nailing the solo!! fuck metallica is best 0,0
All of u new people. Cliff died on Sept 27th 1986. It is Jason. 1986 Best year EVER! 17 and completely lost I was wooo hooooo.

Is this the only live version with Newsted?
Franco Cartes What?
@juanc2499 hetfield doesnt use the spider chord, he downpicks it all and chords it normally, which is much harder.
They're not robots. They're musicians, they'll do whatever the fuck they want.
Happy birthday James Hetfield!
Jason Newsted is playing..
It says Jason’s solo in the description but it also says this was live may 1986 which was before cliff getting killed
it says december 5th...
It's says December the 5th
@@KenaiTobin right I thought it was May 12 1986 I’m british and we usually follow dates like DD/MM/YYYY instead of MM/DD/YYYY
They flip the numbers in America :)
Does anyone know what snare drum Lars is using in this video?
Probably tama
Tama
Guilty as charged
But damn it, it ain't right
There is someone else controlling me
Death in the air
Strapped in the electric chair
This can't be happening to me
Who made you God to say
I'll take your life from you
Flash before my eyes
Now it's time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flames
Wait for the sign
To flick the switch of death
It's the beginning of the end
Sweat, chilling cold
As I watch death unfold
Consciousness my only friend
My fingers grip with fear
What I am doing here?
Flash before my eyes
Now it's time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flames
Someone help me
Oh please God help me
They are trying to take it all away
I don't want to die
Someone help me
Oh please God help me
They are trying to take it all away
I don't want to die
Time moving slowly
The minutes seem like hours
The final curtain call I see
How true is this?
Just get it over with
If this is true, just let it be
Wakened by the horrid Scream
Freed from the frightening dream
Flash before my eyes
Now it's time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flames
Thats THE SHIT! greets from GERMANY, maddafakkaz ;-)
FAST AS SHIT!!
Damnnn
was jason newsted or cliff burton playing?
If Metallica woulndt have done black álbum, they still be badass such as slayer
Holy shit thats kirk hammet
back in the day, they liked to play in the dark. apparantly..
FUCKING FAST!!!
You're wrong... Cliff played with no picks, not Fender models.
I had hair like James Hetfield back in 3rd grade. Now I have short hair. I'm tryi trying to get back my old hair so I can at least have my band ready and play a cover of this song
Brendan Miller how's it going?
Do you have epic sick hair bro
Well guess not.
The Raddest thing.
My opinion but ride the lightning is Metallica's best album
