    Hi. Five months ago I took the same decision and turned my Reefer into an aquascape. I feel happier now since aquascaping is much easier than marine fish keeping. I feel like a heavy burden was removed from my back. Thanks for sharing your experience. What a lovely aquarium. 🌿🐠

      @@MelbourneReefer Hi mate. I have the same tank as you, And was thinking of going back to freshwater, Im constantly battling aptasia, Can i ask why you've gone back to saltwater so fast? after changing it to freshwater. I worried id be making a mistake going to freshwater.

      @@CosyCamper Hi mate, the reason I changed back to saltwater so fast is because of the amount of evaporation and water changes I was having to do. I had American cichlids so naturally I fed quite heavy. Maintenance-wise, it ended up being almost the same as me keeping a saltwater . I love freshwater, I just don’t think sumps are necessarily unless the tank is 8-10ft +

    I bought a second hand 350 for the express purpose of setting up a bigger freshwater tank. About 2 yrs ago, I got so sick of the maintenance on my tanks that I thought about packing it all in, tried a version of the Walstad method and it literally saved the hobby for me. Simpler is better for me I've found

    Thanks for posting the video. I'm thinking of getting back into freshwater fish keeping, found that informative. You have to go with what you want.

    Im going through the same thing now mate... ive got my tank as it is now on my channel if you wanna see. I really love all the corals and the fish, but physically dont have the time, as you can tell about the cyanobacteria all over and i physically hate handling corals especially the soft corals the smell is unbearable to me and seems to stay on your skin no matter how much you wash it. Ive had hippo tang for nearly 3 years... i dont want to get rid of it but its difficult.

      Hey mate I don’t have this tank setup anymore, however when I did maintenance was a breeze, very easy with a sump, I swapped out the filter socks for filter cups and just put filter wool inside of them. Canisters are still great, but if you want a clean look you can’t go wrong with a sump 👍🏼

    Hi your fish tank looks great. I just got a red sea 20 gallon fish tank for fresh water fishes as well. I want to ask how do you get the light which is more white light? It is different settings or you replace to different light? Do you still use skimmer?

    • @MelbourneReefer

      Hey, thank you! I used the AI prime HD lights and yes in the settings I changed the spectrum to white, and no I didn’t use a skimmer with the freshwater setup

      @@MelbourneReefer thank you. It is the original LED light? You turn the blue to 0, and white to 100?

    Hello, I was thinking of buying this brand of tank with the intent of making it for freshwater but I wasn't sure if that was possible.
    Do you have any pointers or suggestions? Is it possible for it to just be used for freshwater straight from the stock equipment it comes with or will I need to make other preparations?

    • @MelbourneReefer
      @MelbourneReefer  2 роки тому

      Hi, it’s definitely possible to use the tank as a freshwater setup, however unless you already have the tank I wouldn’t recommend it, as the evaporation as too high, and the stock top-up system isn’t good enough IMO. I would go a standard glass tank with a lid.

      @@MelbourneReefer thank you for the heads up! That makes my decision a lot easier. :)
