This is awesome!!! Your dad sounds so much like you back then! He raised you boys (I was 28 back in ‘98) right!! Can’t wait to stop in this coming February!!
Always fished the north coast of Florida growing up. Seems there's years when then big cobia come in an then big kings . It isn't about catching them every year at the same time . We know an wait or change strategy. This year they have plenty of pelagic in June. Bout time. Fisherman are patient in this micro wave society. Mix it up brother. It's always fun on the water.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. It’s the $2 bill. If I’m not mistaken. The first fish that came on the boat was a rainbow runner. There were also quite a few VERY big bulls that the kids (back then) caught. I’m hoping one day to catch a dolphin that size. The kids showed great upper body power and sea legs to go with it. I also saw a good chop in the water with the engine idling. Not one land lover on board dealing with motion issues. The Coconut Dolphin Tourney! It’s been around for ever and ever. Only if you can make a living as a fisherman. Tight Lines! 🎣
I remember fishing with Morris Lewis of the Main Attraction and his son in 1992 we put 25 slammers in the box and a sailfish. The charter was $600... full day.
It’s amazing that at 5:00 you can hear “small bull” in the background. Nowadays, that would be considered a slammer! What’s your opinion on the mahi decline nick? Over fishing from the commercial guys? Recreational guys? Pollution? I’d be curious to hear it from a captain that has seen it first hand. Also, do you think anything can be done to save the fishery?
It brings back memories when you could catch decent sized dolphin. The pressure is so high on these fish that all you catch are maybe year old fish. The life span of these fish is 5 to 6 years, a 3 year old fish is close to 40 lbs
Little nick puttin in work!

Crazy how badly the fishery has dimished.

man i wish i had some video of me and my dad doing anything.
Your daughters will have videos to look back on
How come all the Big Bulls and Cows have disappeared??
That’s one thing it’s going to be impossible, even for Nick to re-create. There is never mahi that size and that amount any more .
The fishing is so beat down the the wining mahi in the Haulover Police fishing tournament was 8 lbs. What a joke!
