Spanish milk torrijas without cream. With an authentic recipe that combines the softness of bread bathed in infused milk with the sweet touch of sugar and the fragrance of cinnamon. ✅ Instructions:
In a large saucepan, pour the milk and add the orange peel and cinnamon stick. Heat the milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Then, remove from the heat and let it infuse for about 15-20 minutes.
Meanwhile, cut the bread into slices approximately 2 to 3 centimeters thick.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until well blended.
Remove the lemon zest and cinnamon from the infused milk and dip the bread slices into the milk for a few seconds, making sure they are thoroughly soaked.
Heat a large skillet with oil over medium-high heat.
Dip the soaked bread slices in the egg and sugar mixture, making sure to coat both sides well.
Fry the bread slices in the hot oil until golden and crispy on both sides. Drain them on kitchen paper to remove excess oil.
If you wish, you can sprinkle the torrijas with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while they are still hot.
Serve the torrijas hot or let them cool to room temperature. Enjoy your delicious Spanish torrijas without cream!
