Great tutorials, thank you! I did something similar in a psp 3000, using a xiaomi bp40 used battery (it fitted almost perfect). I realized it produced a strange smell, and one dya, ot exploded (I didn't make a short, I'm not sure what happenned). So, I suggest using new batteries for the mod (by the way, it lasted 14-15 hours with the first charge).
you accidentally pierced it without knowing and the electrolyte started evaporating wich produced the smell and might have caused a short inside the battery. i have pierced a battery myself so i am sure this is somewhat of what happend
Nice mod I have tried this mod myself but my problem is the battery mesures 3.7v which is all good. But the battery voltage will not go through the battery board and into my psp. So any ideas why and I have tried two different battery boards one a genuine Sony and one some other make.

Hi how to correct battery percentage info. There is still a lot of battery while the percentage display already shows 0%. Until the psp turns off for a moment, if left for a while then the percentage will go back up without charging. Please provide information...
Did the same thing with my PSP 3000, But I made it in such a way that the umd compartment opens and closes as usual. I don't like the idea of epoxy glueing the lid because that just ruins future repair. Glad to say that I have been using my 4000 mah Modded psp since a year and everything works top notch. I bought a brand new 4000 mAH battery for it and definitely worth it cuz less chance of dying. Also made a real simple type c to barrel plug converter dongle kinda thing, so that I don't have to carry the original PSP charger. I can just charge it using my phone charger and cord. Such fun modding the psp :)

But i just bought a new high quality 4000 mAh battery from a mobile phone shop and it fit exceptionally well in the case. If you want the exact specifications you'll have to wait as i am not at home for a few days. Still, i think it wouldn't do you any good cause the battery might be made by a local manufacturer.

@@matthew8556 since they soldered in the battery indicator from the aftermarket psp battery, it pretty much emulates from the original. Those battery pcbs help regulate the appropriate voltage for the psp to handle.
I just buy an adapter charger cable to USB and plug it to power bank to charge the 1800mah battery. My new "original" psp 1000 battery is still a crap. Longest time I can play is 2hrs.

@@migamb1721 I used the MI Phone battery. Works perfectly fine, takes time to fully charge but once done it lasts for 6 - 7 hours on medium brightness. Go for it! :D

I have seen several videos of these mods, and I don't think the umd is really needed that much anymore. You can get software to add movies and music to a micro SD card, and I know you can get emulators to play games. I would just like to know where you can buy the batteries to use in the mod. Are they phone batteries? What about those slim chargers you can buy. Would one of those work?
Yes, I used battery from a phone. You can actually get one from a local phone shop. Slim charger? You mean the cable with a usb end? They will absolutely work.
@@cooldat92 It looks like a phone battery. But you can buy chargers that look similar to this battery. The portable chargers that you buy to charge your phone. There are some chargers that have a higher Mah. I will have to review the video again. Thank you for responding.

Yes. Its actually good, lower end charge voltage is prolonging battery life. From other hand there is another riddle - Older Li-ions could be discharged to 3V - 0% , newer ones are about 3.3V or even higher. Maybe that's why Xiaomi battery died after a year of usage. Deeper than designed discharge can cause battery to swell up and die. I need to check it, I have some spare, used Huawei battery to fit on PSP. If that`s the case we can install different BMS to cut off Li po at higher voltage.
Do u know what my psp 1k problem? I try turn on it without battery using charger cable 2 in 1. At first it worked. Then i try shutdown it via xmb menu (shutdown device). I try turn on back but it not turn on anymore (no light indicator too). Should i buy psp battery for test it again? Tq.

Usually , polarity is showing on the battery's controller , but if its not , you can use phase detector or multimeter
