I'd love to see a discussion on if Black American men and women date within the Diaspora and the challenges that come with that.

I literally just had this conversation with my dad. As Nuer people our dowry is reasonable, and I love that 🙂
Oh and I'm bow legged!! 😂🤭

The countries in Rural Indian kill their daughters most of the time because of dowry. To get married, a bride has to pay the groom’s family it’s the versus of the system discussed in this episode.
China doesn’t have a dowry system technically but they still give bride gifts. However, Chinese girl are killed mostly because of the previous one child policy (now two child) and the thought the having a daughter is losing wealth because you can only have one. Added to that once she leaves their no one there to care for the parents in old age. On top of the fact that there were fines for having more than one child, so most choices boys between of legacy and the thought that they would stay and support the parents.

People have become greedy with dowry. I think the dowry has lost its initial meaning.

I don’t see the point of paying for someone who’s not fully African or embraces all the aspects of the culture not only when it benefits them. Some western women tend to do that

in our culture men takes equal share in taking care of our kids, cooking, cleaning, getting groceris. On top of having to work and earn most, build and mend the house etc. So I see it as an outdated business opportinity for the bride's familiy.

There is a custom in Dinka tribe,i don't know if you guys are aware about it?,
If you did not pay the dowry or you didn't complete it,the family of the bride 👰 takes your first born daughter, taking care of her...send her to school, then when she gets married they're the ones who take whole responsibility and her dowry as well, and you as her father, you don't get anything from her dowry because you didn't pay her mum's dowry, it happened to one of my homies, now his sister studies in Kenya under the responsibility of her maternal uncle, when she gets married her father will not get anything from her dowry 😅

Nigerians and South Sudanese are the only Africans who identify with their African countries and say they are born in America but other Africans would say my parents are from this country.

I feel like the women has to be a virgin cause who paying a dowry for a women other men had for free?…….now if she hasn’t been with other men I understand. But even in Africa half these women aren’t dowry worthy.

If you live in America, you follow the American customs. Dowry doesn't fly in the West.

the question is who broke the women virginity? If modern men wants to marry a virgin like you said then they should stop breaking the women virginity, most men like young girls yet they want to marry a virgin

  • @fightsims1252

Very childish conversation. Dowry is outdated because women have changed.
Why would any young man pay a dowry for a woman who isn't a virgin?
You women just can't flip flop between modernism and traditionism as it best serves you.

First of all most south Sudanese men in the west don’t meet the standards of south Sudanese manhood, do guys know how to hunt animals, build houses or pick up a weapon to protect your family ??? and most men are not virgin either but u want the women to be that’s flip flopping from tradition to modernism. No women wants to marry a man that’s sleeps around

    • @c.f.okonta8815

@@real8551 It was crazy to watch. The boys were so busy kissing the women's behinds, a woman had to point out to them that men have value 😂.
I wonder how many of these girls would sleep with the useless kids they chose to represent African men.
