And to think they pulled off this show with no sound check, no camera check and it tuned out this great is just phenomenal!!! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
Well, the show was back in 2003, 20 years ago. I was 23 at the time I saw them in Porto Alegre. I am a 43 years old fart by now lol. Not the only 70s band I like. (born in 79 btw)
When the normally stoic Neil looks like he's having fun, you know it's been a great show. The By-Tor cartoon is itself pretty fun and interesting - it can be found as an easter egg during the Boys in Brazil documentary. The Easter egg can be found by pressing enter on a DVD remote at 26:40 during the documentary while Alex is talking about the song. Or, at a keyboard, you can press enter once at any point between 26:40 and 27:39.
I really love how they feed off the crowd's energy, which really takes their classic hits to a whole new level, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with Working Man. Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
"The obvious adoration and energy from the crowd" Is it possible any other way, when Rush plays?? Saw them in Porto Alegre in the same tour. Hard to believe it's over 20 years already.
When this dvd came out, I probably watched it almost everyday for months. Was so much better than the VHS tapes of official releases, and a handful of bootleg recordings from the 90’s Rush shows I had. Was absolutely incredible to watch and listen to with the 5.1 surround sound I had going on.🤯👌👍🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎹🎤
Totally speechless when I first watched this, everything about this performance spot on and for me probably the best encores I've ever seen by any band, and I've seen a lot in my 58 years. Bytor bloody bytor O man 🤘🤘🤘👍
The encore might be my favorite part of this concert, If these guys had never gone prog and just stuck to hard rock they still would have been a great band. 😊
Can’t even tell you how much I love this medley (Working Man included). One of my favorite recorded medleys of theirs, period. That version of By-Tor is, all things considered, to date, the best I’ve ever heard. Tightness and energy level aside, the greatness is in the details. Alex’s solo is second to no other version and Neil’s breaks are, point blank, the best they ever sounded. In the first one, he accents and ghosts the sixteenths to give more of a big band feel, as opposed to the primal Wipeout versions of the fill he played previously. Far, far better. The Freddie influence, for sure. Wish he had played it that way on the original recording. Super awesome stuff. Sorry that these Rio reactions are coming to a close, ‘cause I’ve really enjoyed them.
I don't think I've seen a band play this level of rhythmically challenging music as tight as this while looking as loose and having fun with it. I still prefer Geddys bass parts on the Moving Pictures tour medley, but man that is still a kick ass version.
NOOOOOOOO, why did chop up the encore.??? That's a real buzz kill! (For you as well). I realize it would have been a super long reaction, but you're still young and you can handle it.😂
Best Rush concert ever. Working man is shorter more accurate than the Cleveland version, and a not sloppy mess with Alex playing random notes as he did in Cleveland.

Watching these young kids being so into music from the 1970’s is so heartening and also shows the timelessness of a band such as Rush… R.I.P Neil

Cygnus X1 was always incredible live, every nerve is torn apart!!!🔥🤘🏻

Overall the most enjoyable of the Rush concert DVDs.
The obvious adoration and energy from the crowd takes the experience to a "Whole 'nother level!"

Geddy nailed his vocals in this concert
The set list for this tour was my favorite set list of all the tours I saw them on.
Absolutely awesome!
Great performance. Love By-Tor live.
I forgot they did ByTor just for the South American fans. So glad for them they got to experience those classic cuts. They really ripped.
Was hoping you kept it going with working man. I saw a lot of shows and this may have been the best encore.

Nailed it!!
Geddy is BY-TOR and Alex is THE SNOW DOG!!!

That was great! Love both those songs! ❤❤❤
Best version of ByTor live evah, if only because of the hilarious cartoon. 😆
Classic!
They haven't skipped a beat. Or if they did, it was tight and deliberate. 😊
It's "By-Tor and the Snow Dog" ! ;-)

Excellent
Its pronounced "buy tour" 😁
🔥🔥
Really cool...did someone say that?
You really sound like you liked it.

Great concert and filming, but someone needs to kick the editor in the sack. Just non stop 1.5 second camera changes.
