    Hey Chris, to gain top end speed is all out neural drive (i.e heavy squats), developing more fast twitch muscle fibers more important than developing for example a good RFD through exercises such as plyometrics that would be useful for acceleration? I imagine good sprinting mechanics for both acceleration and the top end sprinting phases are just as important as developing the other factors also?

  • @TheRightWay11
    @TheRightWay11 7 років тому +14

    Yo Chris. Would these drills and ESA speed help a soccer player who needs to develop explosive speed and agility? Or are these only for track/american football athletes? Reason being is because in soccer we can't dedicate too much time on trying to nail the mechanics, as its stop and go, so would we benefit from just working on increasing power output as much as possible?

    Hey great content! I'm about to get your speed program, but i'm not sure if its the right choice for me. I'm about to start my internship as an athletic coach in soccer and i wanna be prepared. Is the speed program only for athletes or for coaches as well? I wanna understand the drills and excercices I coach, so I can apply and cue them correctly. I already got the athlete built program for myself and I think thats more fore athletes only. Dont misunderstand me. I love the program! So to sum up the question: Is the speed program appropriate for new coaches or is there a better choice.
    PS: I know about the studies and the thoretical stuff (sport student), but I think applying it is what makes good coaches. And thats why I absoltely love this channel. Maybe no perfect english but I hope you understand what I mean.

    How should I train to INCREASE strength during basketball season. Im weak af (135 ~ 1RM squat). Is it possible, or will I just burn out my CNS?

    • @joystickcass1876
      @joystickcass1876 7 років тому +1

      Andrew Robeen It's possible you will have to eat like crazy though good food lots of protein and make sure you get your 8 hours. Do your weight training before practice, of course your strength gains will be minimal if your intermediate, but for a beginner you should see some noticeable strength gains if you follow a program

    • @kobeskyball2281

      it is of course possible but don't do too much you shouldn't squat and deadlift more than once a week

    Hi coach. Hope you're fit and well brother. I have a few quick questions I hope you can help with sir. What are the best supplementary exercises in the gym to promote fitness for 100 metres / 200 metres as an alternative to track tempo training. In regards to Concept 2 rowing and Spin bike sessions? Can spin bike sessions be used as an alternative to track work to simulate special endurance 250m , 300m , 350 m, and 500s metres. I am a master athlete here in the UK aiming to compete this year. I have been incorporating your training methodology and have seen significant improvements in my power, flexibility and mobility in the short time I've been back . Lastly, because I can't afford a vertimax machine to help with my acceleration power what if anything can be improvised as a cheaper alternative to use in the gym/ track.at a fraction of the cost. I've watched Justin Gatlin use the vertimax and wish I could afford such a device. In the meantime, God bless you brother with your brilliant academy and as David Goggins says Stay hard.
