Changing Pressure Washer Pump Oil

- I show you how easy it is to change pressure washer pump oil. My owner's manual said the pump oil would not need changing for the life of the pump. Given the look of the oil, it obviously needed changing. I measured what I drained as there was no information in the manual or on the pump. It needed 8 ounces to fill it.
UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.
My dad has this power washer and used it for his painting business for years with minimal oil changes I borrowed it and changed the engine oil and pump oil still starts 1-2 pulls every time great machine, not sure Honda still builds them like they used to….
A non detergent oil lets the solid contaminants lay in the bottom of the case. Detergent oils are meant to suspend the particles and carry them to a filter. As with most small engines no filter=no detergent. A little zinc/phosphorus booster helps too.
So anything with an oil filter requires a detergent oil.. Do most oils off the shelf contain detergents? How to determine that , is there a stamp/ID or something easily recognizable? Thanks!!
Yes most do. Actually you seek out the non-detergent for your no-filter applications. Since the EPA mandated removal of almost all the zinc in "car" oil I use diesel (API "C") grade in all my filtered stuff. Only the later model cars can survive on the latest API "S" ratings.
I just use synthetic valvoline motor oil... never had issue ,bought new, starts on first 2 pulls max, still going strong after 35+ years of heavy use😉👍
Thank you for your time and experience,we appreciate your channel

i put 10-30 oil in my pressure washer pump. is that the right pump oil for my pressure washer pump?
motor oil and pump oil are different, 10/30 is for the motor and the pressure pump holds a pressure pump oil, I found the oil at sears.

Bought a used one, works great. Do all power washers have this?
Also do all power washers use the non detergent kind?
In my experience, yes. If anyone knows differently, please chime in. Thank you for your comment and good luck!

I
I put outboard motor lower unit gear case oil in mine.
Just follow the manuals. At all the people in the comments. This is why people complain about pressure washers getting broken after 1 year usage. Using the wrong oil
Hello!!! Oz oil? Thanks for your help!!!!!!!
Neftalí Rosado thanks for the reply. I did not put the amount to add because my washer had a plug to remove while filling and it was full when it began to spill over. Thanks again for the reply.

Matthew mcconaughey?
The manual says non detergent sae30
How high do you fill the pump?
Hi Matt, my pressure washer pump does not have an oil sight window but rather a plug on the side of the pump. I take out the plug and then I fill the pump until the oil begins to over flow. Then replace the plug. Thanks for the questions.
@@2slwilliams What do you do if your pump doesn't have a site glass or a second plug for the oil to come out??
@@larryhetherton8568 Hi This is a very late reply. What I do is measure the amount of oil that drains out, & then put the same amount back in.
Very informative
Excellent !!!
Good video.
Thank you sir !
Crankcase oil
Talking way to much
At least the video isn’t super long
As in 10+ mins
My simpson 3400 psi 2.3gpm doesn't have a fill spot like this one. Has the sight window but no where to put it in? I looked everywhere online about it and no luck. Anyone have any idea? Maybe just not able to fill this one? Seems odd to have a sight window and no where to add😂
