      How do you keep the “knees” of the tree down ?

      @@disgruntledvet28 The knees will generally not form if the tree is in drier soil or deep water. If your soil is wet enough to generate knees, I'd recommend removing any grass from the interior dripline and adding pine needles around the base and knees to protect them and mowing equipment.

    Are these trees bad for the foundation of your house or the plumbing?

    • @OutdoorInspirations
      @OutdoorInspirations  7 місяців тому +1

      Absolutely, do not plant close to structures. Lots of top rooting which could cause damage. There are better shade trees to plant closer to homes such as Oaks, which its roots dive down and do not top root.

    I planted a 18 inch bald cypress. When will my branchless tree start forming branches ?

    • @OutdoorInspirations
      @OutdoorInspirations  9 місяців тому +1

      It depends on the quality form of the small plant you bought- did it have several branches from the start? If not, we have had to literally trim down the main leader in order for it to start sprouting new side branches

      You should be fine as long as you prepare the planting hole extra wide with sand/loam- even large rocks to allow for decent drainage-

    There’s a very large on the property that I’m buying to build my house on. It’s a beautiful tree but it sets right where the Garage is going to be. So I’m going to have it taken down and cut up into wood flooring for my house.

    why arent these planted on Timber plantations? I guess pines grow faster? I mean hardwoods would seem more valuble for deckoing material since it would last longer

      Great question Cypress is a superior wood over Pine- must be cost vs demand thing?

    • @OutdoorInspirations
      @OutdoorInspirations  10 місяців тому

      Anywhere! This tree is well adapted to grow in dry, moist and wet soils.
