The Xiaomi outdoor speaker is a bit larger than the previously released Xiaomi Pocket speakers, or Cannon speaker. It's got a very nice finishing mesh and a pretty convenient orange carrying cord.
It's equipped with a very decent 2600 mAh battery that provides 8 hours of listening time and comes with Bluetooth 5.0, giving you a 10-meter range. On the front, it's got a small LED indicator to show whether the speaker is charging and if it's connected to Bluetooth.
On the bottom backside of the speaker you'll find its USB-C connector for charging and on the bottom of the speaker is the on/off button.
The top of the speaker is a dial that can be turned left-right and right-left to change the volume and that feels and sounds pretty nice.
The Xiaomi outdoor speaker has an IP55 rating making it rain-proof and it should be able to withstand water being sprayed at it from a nozzle. In my tests, it did survive that.
It's waterproofing should not allow it to be submerged in water, like the UE boom speaker has for example. I was stubborn and DID have to try and submerge it. -It did not like that and the speaker died shortly after...
The sound quality is not all that bad for a speaker in this price range. It's actually quite good. The low end is not as heavy as you would find on the Boom-2 that I have compared it with but it is A LOT better than Xiaomi's Pocket Speaker that I have also compared it with.
Overall I really do like the outdoor speaker. It is affordable, it's rainproof, it's got BLE 5.0, it's got USB-C charging and it does not sound all that bad! -Just make sure you don't let it fall in the water and you should be OK!

Hey xiaomify I want to let you know a secret feature not mentioned in the manual. It’s that you can pair to a 2nd speaker as a stereo pair!
You need to power on both speaker and double tap the power button after startup tone. They take about 10 second to pair up

What is the charging time and what's the indicator while charging?
The Xiaomi one sounds brighter due to that louder mid and high, but the low isn't that bad either. Surely it's not as boombastic as the UE boom, but boom has its own kinda muffled sound problem, like the mid and high is covered by the low. I say the boom is good for private party where you're gonna play some EDM songs, while Xiaomi one is better for some kind of more relaxing garden party.

U cant compromise $ for sound. Humans are evolved to be more responsive to sound than sight.
Its no surprise once we’ve heard a better speaker, anything thats sub-par, regardless the price point, just wont make it to the list. I personally own 4 UE Boom 2 and judging from this video, i dont think this is the one for me. But for the masses, i think its great for its price point. I also wonder if xiaomi speaker can link up multiple speakers at a time just like the ur boom does?

I just bought one and I hate it. Too much bass, and the mids are muffled. Listening to music is okay but not great, but when watching youtube videos, or listening to anything with someone talking in it is unbearable.
