This is a great thing that you are doing for Nevada. Most people don't know about the wonders we have here in the Silver state. The one thing I would like to recommend is continuing on to Great Basin National Park. It will give you a completely different view of Nevada. It has very impressive mountains, forests, and even a cave to tour. Wheeler Peak is awesome. It looks like a pyramid glacier sticking out of the surface of the earth. Didn't d the cave though no dogs allowed. Except service dogs. Yeah no lazy dogs, really wow. Thanks again for the shout out.
This was fun. I'm from the area so I can help out with a couple of things. Pioche is pronounced pee-ohsh. The reason for daytime headlights is that when large stretches of desert roads and highways get hot it causes a sort of mist-like distortion. Headlights help make cars more visible to other drivers within that distortion. I hope you spend more time in the area!

Interesting fact: that entire train and the set up it sits in was once in front of Main Street Station Casino. The Casino owner across the street bought the land to build a parking garage. He bought the Train and I believe donated it to whoever would pay to have it moved. You are the G.O.A.T Adam. You always find the best places...thanks

My Dad grew up in Pioche. My Grandpa worked in the mines. It was always a fun place to visit. It always felt like we went back to a better time. Love your videos Adam!

Adam you're correct, that train is the one from Orlando. A developer by the name of Bob Snow who was a big player here in Florida purchased a hotel in old Vegas and named it Main Street Station as a hat tip to Church Street Station. He then brought in relics from all over the world including a few of those train cars which used to reside in Orlando and put them in and around his Vegas casino. The rail cars were used by Buffalo Bill Cody and Annie Oakley during their traveling shows pre Deadwood days. Bob Snow was a prolific collector of various rare items from around the world. I used to own a claw-foot bathtub from England that was in his collection. He started liquidating things and then sold the Main Street Station to the Boyd group some years back. The open desert is a strange and mysterious place.
7:35 That train IS from the Main Street Station hotel in Las Vegas! That train, canopy and all, stood in a parking lot outside of the hotel for ages, but the land was sold to make way for the new Circa hotel (specifically its parking garage). So great to see that the entire display has been preserved!!
Those layers in the mountains were actually the bottom of ancient seas from 1/4th to up to 3/4ths of a billion years ago! Blows the mind, right! This sort of video is the type I like the most from you! Kudos!

Pioche is one of my favorite little towns. I used to love to shop in the antique store (owned by a guy from the Bronx and his wife,I came from the same neighborhood in the Bronx) the store was set up in sections like kitchen area, at the door there was a police Harley 3 wheeler with a manikin dressed in 50's police uniform. We stayed in a smell new "little house" on the main street. The people are very friendly and the area is almost as it was when the mine was working. Ely is another small town, my wifes father lived there and worked for a company that developed ejection seats for jets. The town folks are called "down winders" as many (including my father in law) died from radiation poisoning from the nuclear tests done nearby. The road to Ely is signed as the loneliest road in America, well named.
My maternal Grandfather worked at the Rex theater in Caliente during the Depression. It was a pretty opulent place for a little Nevada railroad town. Aimee Semple McPherson and a small entourage once passed time there while their car was being serviced at a garage. Word got 'round fast, and soon every housewife in town had arrived with sanwiches, lemonade, cakes, etc. Very hospitable townsfolk, even during hard times.
Fantastic adventure. So enjoyable to hang with you. My 2 buddies Frank and Jerry and myself did so many trips like this. Brought back some special moments from long ago. Thanks Adam.
The last time I watched DailyWoo was six years ago in 2018 right before I moved. I had forgotten about this channel. But leave it to youtube to recommend this video to me. I'm now thinking about his bike jump off the slide in Southern California. His visit to his town where he spent part of his childhood in Oklahoma(?). Woo not getting hired by ;the local convenience store when he was younger. Guess there will be alot of videos for me to watch now.
I was broke down on Alien Highway and after two hours of being broke down on the two lane highway and people not stopping or going around me I finally got someone to stop and help me with water. There's no phone or radio service for 25 plus miles and if you see someone broke down on the highway blocking the road please try to ask if they need water and help. The car that pulled behind me and helped me with water and calling 911 was a angel to me. By the time the state trooper found me I was in tears that we were going to survive. Please help someone broke down

Yeah I live in the Carson valley in northern nevada.Wild horses are in the pinenut mountains behind my house Also when a I drove a delivery route in South reno I'd be literally half a mile or less from suburbs.Bands of wildhorses with foals would be chilling.Sometimes eat my lunch in the truck & watch them.Its very common here.Just a normal northern nevada thing.
The “headlights on” zones are about accident prevention. Typically on open expanse two lane high speed roads accident rates (head-ons in particular) are researched to note the difference when head lights are on in daylight.
Long sometimes desolate stretches of road will easily hypnotize drivers. Been there many a time, havent't you? Headlights of oncoming vehicles are a no-cost safety measure.
In the mid 90s I worked for Dominos Pizza for a few months. One of the "safety requirements" they had for drivers was using headlights day or night. It just became a habit and it didn't take long to realize how much more visible I was in general than without.
@@RiverRatWA57 Perhaps, but there are other vehicles out there that aren't red semis or as big. Remember that there are others in the world and small acts can improve safety for all.

This series! I need to go explore Nevada again. Last year when I went, I ventured out to Goldfield and Beatty and Henderson (loved them), but there's so much more to see, so much I missed.
I was just out there last week. From Vegas, to Zion, Bryce, Lake Powell, and Grand Canyon. This video brought me back and continued on to the roads less traveled. Thanks for the upload, I really enjoyed it.

Thank you for this. I lived in Vegas for 10 years and found my soul in the random desert places around Nevada. Loved the wild Mustang spotting as well! That was a favorite past time of mine, going and randomly finding a Mustang herd in the desert 🏜
I did a portion of that drive last May (Panaca to Ely, where your video ended). I was coming from Cedar City UT (actually started the day in Tucson). I hope you ate at the Jailhouse Steakhouse because every booth is its own "jail cell". Pretty dang good prime rib, I must say.
Wild horses in Northern Nevada, so many so they have built overpasses and underpasses along Interstate 80...In the Reno city limits there are numerous accidents with wild horses as well. Was Ely the last town in the vid? I've been to Ely many times and that didn't look like Ely. He must have entered Ely through US-50. I usually enter Ely through US-6.

I saw mostly wild cows driving through out west and a few horses. In North Carolina there's a huge population of wild horses along the beach. Just make certain to never approach them even if behave tame. You'll get your ass kicked!

Looks like it could be an old movie set. - The reason you had to run the headlights I believe is so your car is more visible to on coming traffic. Other wise it would just blend in with the terrain. - You finding all the neat stuff out there in the desert.

I really enjoyed this video, just exploring and seeing what you can find. I love discovering old forgotten towns. Plenty of those here in my home state of Oklahoma. For some reason I haven't made it out to Nevada to those wild open places to explore. I hope to one day make it out to the old west areas and just do that, explore! Daytime headlights are so other cars can see you coming. if you pass out there in the desert, sometimes there are heat waves going across the road. You cant see oncoming cars if the lights aren't on . This happens a lot on the long straight roads!
Could not believe the amount of solar panels when we drove through there.In Australia the biggest solar farm we went past on the way into Victoria was nowhere near that size.
That was cool... Like the T shirt..(Roddy).. The air freshener was distracting.. lol, but that just me... They seem to have a lot of Clubs out there... another word for Bar.. Would be interesting to see who actually goes there.. The locals must be.........? Hope to pass thru that area one day....

From my very small amount of traffic engineering knowledge, the headlight zone is so you can see oncoming vehicles more easily, increasing safety since it's a high speed two lane road

I done a little research on the wild horses, and it seems that there are wild horse, wild mustangs, all over the higher elevations of Nevada. The mustangs are descendants of the wild horses of the early 1800s. Very cool. I am very glad that I found your channel, bc I absolutely love adventures like this. Brush off the conformity of society and it's signs, and Just head down desert or mountain roads and just see what you find. Thanks again for this. You are an explorer, and adventurer at heart! I've driven on that highway many times. The "Lights On" during daylight hours is for safety, as in cars/semi-trucks passing into your lane of travel. I've seen several times why it's necessary.

If the road has dangerous sections, like narrow passages, tight curves or mountains...they require that you turn your headlights on in the daytime to help visibility of on coming traffic.
Where are you from? I'm in Colorado Rockies. The only time we leave headlights on are in tunnels or bad low visibilty storms. What good are headlights in the day time?
Distance is kind of deceiving with the dips in the road. Some serious accidents of people driving fast and not paying attention. The county sheriff patrols the road and catches some guys trying to see how fast their car will go on those roads.
@@redpill5471 They greatly aid your visibility to on coming traffic. Motorcycles have their lights on all the time. I come from Arkansas, and trust me, we have some switchback roads, where lights come in very handy during the day time.
@@LadyDragonsblood ummm motorcycles are smaller than cars and are hard to see. That's the only reason they leave headlights on. Also Colorado has 14,000 foot mountains with much deeper canyons than flatlander Arkansas. Im just speaking from experience.

I was back in Orlando Fl in 2015. Church Street Station area had had a lot of reconstruction/building which ruined the entertainment business' beside the station. Rosy O' Grady's was sold and a restaurant called Cerviche was in it's place with very few customers...Rosy's was a great place, a pity. The train carriage was used as an antique store back in the 80's. Great to see it again.

Yeah I live in the Carson valley in northern nevada.Wild horses are in the pinenut mountains behind my house Also when a I drove a delivery route in South reno I'd be literally half a mile or less from suburbs.Bands of wildhorses with foals would be chilling.Sometimes eat my lunch in the truck & watch them.Its very common here.Just a normal northern nevada thing.
The “headlights on” zones are about accident prevention. Typically on open expanse two lane high speed roads accident rates (head-ons in particular) are researched to note the difference when head lights are on in daylight.
Long sometimes desolate stretches of road will easily hypnotize drivers. Been there many a time, havent't you? Headlights of oncoming vehicles are a no-cost safety measure.
And for dust storms
In the mid 90s I worked for Dominos Pizza for a few months. One of the "safety requirements" they had for drivers was using headlights day or night. It just became a habit and it didn't take long to realize how much more visible I was in general than without.

@@RiverRatWA57 Perhaps, but there are other vehicles out there that aren't red semis or as big. Remember that there are others in the world and small acts can improve safety for all.

This series! I need to go explore Nevada again. Last year when I went, I ventured out to Goldfield and Beatty and Henderson (loved them), but there's so much more to see, so much I missed.
I was just out there last week. From Vegas, to Zion, Bryce, Lake Powell, and Grand Canyon. This video brought me back and continued on to the roads less traveled.

Thank you for this. I lived in Vegas for 10 years and found my soul in the random desert places around Nevada. Loved the wild Mustang spotting as well! That was a favorite past time of mine, going and randomly finding a Mustang herd in the desert 🏜
I did a portion of that drive last May (Panaca to Ely, where your video ended). I was coming from Cedar City UT (actually started the day in Tucson). I hope you ate at the Jailhouse Steakhouse because every booth is its own "jail cell". Pretty dang good prime rib, I must say.
Wild horses in Northern Nevada, so many so they have built overpasses and underpasses along Interstate 80...In the Reno city limits there are numerous accidents with wild horses as well. By the way Pioche is pronounced pee---och...Cool you made it to Ely pronounced e-lee...Nevada is desolate but beautiful....Thanks for letting me tag along...
Was Ely the last town in the vid? I've been to Ely many times and that didn't look like Ely. He must have entered Ely through US-50. I usually enter Ely through US-6.

I saw mostly wild cows driving through out west and a few horses. In North Carolina there's a huge population of wild horses along the beach. Just make certain to never approach them even if behave tame. You'll get your ass kicked!
It's amazing how well preserved those "bandit hideouts" are. I bet it smelled amazing around there when they were making charcoal way back in the day.

Looks like it could be an old movie set. - The reason you had to run the headlights I believe is so your car is more visible to on coming traffic. Other wise it would just blend in with the terrain. - You finding all the neat stuff out there in the desert.

Great coverage of central/eastern parts of Nevada. I'm born and raised in Vegas and pioche and ely are def some of the coolest towns in Nevada. If you haven't done goldfield and tonapah, make sure to check them out next time!
Interesting to see tourist spots that's seems barely visited. It might be time for a road trip to support these places deep in the boonies.

Daytime headlights are so other cars can see you coming. if you pass out there in the desert, sometimes there are heat waves going across the road. You cant see oncoming cars if the lights aren't on . This happens a lot on the long straight roads!

Could not believe the amount of solar panels when we drove through there.In Australia the biggest solar farm we went past on the way into Victoria was nowhere near that size.

My guess about the headlight zones is that it makes the oncoming traffic a little bit easier to see, or to judge distances for passing etc.

From my very small amount of traffic engineering knowledge, the headlight zone is so you can see oncoming vehicles more easily, increasing safety since it's a high speed two lane road
You are mostly correct, the headlight zones are for primarily for sunrise and sunset when the sun is glaring.
They don't have daytime running lights on American cars?

I do open those videos up though of the Disney and I like the video for the support but I don’t watch them, I despise Disney but when you do all these open roads small towns the way you do it is just amazing. I done a little research on the wild horses, and it seems that there are wild horse, wild mustangs, all over the higher elevations of Nevada.
The mustangs are descendants of the wild horses of the early 1800s. Very cool. I am very glad that I found your channel, bc I absolutely love adventures like this. Brush off the conformity of society and it's signs, and Just head down desert or mountain roads and just see what you find. Thanks again for this. You are an explorer, and adventurer at heart! I've driven on that highway many times. The "Lights On" during daylight hours is for safety, as in cars/semi-trucks passing into your lane of travel. I've seen several times why it's necessary.

If the road has dangerous sections, like narrow passages, tight curves or mountains...they require that you turn your headlights on in the daytime to help visibility of on coming traffic.
Where are you from? I'm in Colorado Rockies. The only time we leave headlights on are in tunnels or bad low visibilty storms. What good are headlights in the day time?
Distance is kind of deceiving with the dips in the road. Some serious accidents of people driving fast and not paying attention. The county sheriff patrols the road and catches some guys trying to see how fast their car will go on those roads.
@@redpill5471 They greatly aid your visibility to on coming traffic. Motorcycles have their lights on all the time. I come from Arkansas, and trust me, we have some switchback roads, where lights come in very handy during the day time.
@@LadyDragonsblood ummm motorcycles are smaller than cars and are hard to see. That's the only reason they leave headlights on. Also Colorado has 14,000 foot mountains with much deeper canyons than flatlander Arkansas. Im just speaking from experience.

I was back in Orlando Fl in 2015. Church Street Station area had had a lot of reconstruction/building which ruined the entertainment business' beside the station. Rosy O' Grady's was sold and a restaurant called Cerviche was in it's place with very few customers...Rosy's was a great place, a pity. The train carriage was used as an antique store back in the 80's. Great to see it again.

By far the best vlog on your trip from and to and from. Loved the wild horses you spotted near the road peeking out behind the shrubs and the zebas, donkeys, wild horses, a camel at that neat place with the train and all the other interesting finds.
