I swear, I heard this when I was very little and I liked the song, but I couldn't in my life figure out the name. From time to time, it got stuck in my head but I could only remember the melody and not the song so today I figured it out by this website where you can hum the melody to figure out the song. Tool 10 minutes, but finally I know the song after like 10 years! Ugh! Finally
Brian Gallardo. I have a friend that speaks Arabic. I haven't talked to him face to face in over 8 years. His family is from Egypt and he was Muslim. I considered him a brother and good friend. But he moved in 2010.
@@Ciara1594 I was stationed in Germany and because I had always heard that German was an "ugly" language, it was very difficult for me to learn. One day I realized that it was my choice to perceive it as "ugly." I tried to imagine how German speakers heard themselves. Just by asking the question, I began to be able to listen better. I realized that what I had been conditioned to hear as "ugly" was actually the Germans making a lot of effort to be precise and exact. Once I could hear the precision and exactness of the Germanic language, I suddenly began to pick it up rapidly. Point is that no language is "ugly." Only our own quality of listening can make any language seem ugly.
That s Mawal in arabic doesnt have to mean Safe just for sounds of the melody Layli Layli means my night but here just used for the rythm. His name cheb mami great singer too like sting
Ive found myself just sitting on a chair...looking through the window and thinking how beautiful this song and melody is.. i could be listening to this all day.Thank you
My dad use to play this song all the time in the car. I for some reason remember we were in the car on our way to Canada and I could see the stars in the night sky and houses scattered on the rural plains. It was pretty awesome...
my favourite song for the past 12 yrs n i doubt it will ever be surpassed by anything else i hear never failing to make me feel the same about it as the first time i heard it
I love this song and so does my wife - it's one of the few songs we both genuinely like. That being said, I like what Family Guy said about Sting - you can only ever understand roughly every 3rd word.
The instructions and cheb's voice take me far away and when the song ends my soul pines for a home long gone away! God, it makes me feel so homesick !!!
Absolutely agree. I was 15. Lived in Russia at that time. This song was HUGE there. Years later it`s still my number 1 song and "O Clone" my favorite soup opera:)
Music HAS NO LANGUAGE. We're built with music in our soul without even knowing it. I can barely understand a fucking word he's saying BUT i fahhkin love itt its jus so soothinn ❤💯🤷♂️
Love Sting OMG can't believe i was lead to forget this band :( Love you always please bless this group and all they've earned for this I am eternal grateful. Love once more wraps me in with Golden string that glows from the Love that was made from here to Life itself. Bless you all for Song brings re new some old. Blessings always in forever so mote this be Love Light and blessings for helping to save me and bringing me back to Life. For this "god" you all think did whatever...failed none of us ..was a point I myself needed to understand. Bless us and those I harmed for I go forth to undo damage done. Forever more mote this so! Amen
I remember me & my Mom went to Arizona spring break 2009. We drove there I live in California, so Arizona is like maybe 4 hours of driving distance there. While we were out in the middle of the desert, that song was on. It's a pretty nice song to listen to while driving in the desert! :)
Your songs made me realize that you know who I am exactly. I realized that you know that I am truly and what I want. I realized that all the things I saw and did were worth something because I am not alone and there are others who believe in me
by closing my eyes and hearing this song pictures of the desert and the rains falling on it and with that a rose nurtured by a man and finally this rose is singing and that might be sting
Absolutely beautiful, timeless song, an ultimate expression of love and desire...ethereal, like the gods made it. Because even the gods love music sweet as this.
It's an amazing song, i love it!!! But I have to say "bravo" to the people who understood the lyrics of the song! I could never understood them, no way...
+Catherine Simone u take the literal meaning of this song. of the lyrics. its really amazing though. kind of miss the time where the songs had good feelings in it
my heart cries every time I hear this. so much love in my heart but can't seem to find the love that feels as my heart feels. I pray God will allow me to feel what love truly feels like one-day.

wellfudgethis Thanks for saying what I was thinking. Racists will be in for a shock in 2044 when the census predicts Latinos/Hispanics will be majority and whites the minority.
I remember how before Sirius and XM merged they played the intro whenever there was a technical difficulty. I remember hearing this on a channel thinking the song was starting until I heard the announcement that there is a tech difficulty. In other words, THIS IS TIMELESS
this song since I first heard that I was fascinated by their music inspires me a lot and we should not point people to stop dreaming and stop believing in love live is the only thing we have in this life
I was 11 when this song came out and I absolutely loved it. I remember how big it was all over the radio stations and back in 2001 there was a big craze with the Middle East; there was even a famous Brazilian soap opera about the Muslim life and culture called "El Clon" being aired around that time. Well, this song was always played on the radio but unfortunately after the 9/11 attacks it was never played on the radio ever again. Anyway, after all these years, it's still my favorite song! :D
you know that it is strange that we always searching for our differences to fight about, but never understand that we all can live in peace if we ignored our differences, you should say god bless all the honest people.
I could listen to this song all day. Sting is awesome with a great voice.

One of Stings greatest. Cheb Mami added his part perfect. Arabic is a very beautiful language.
I love this song! I watched Sting perform last night in Cape Town, South Africa! And when he played this song, I got chills :)
People say that Arabic is an ugly language but to me I think it's beautiful and it influenced Spanish.
Brian Gallardo. I have a friend that speaks Arabic. I haven't talked to him face to face in over 8 years. His family is from Egypt and he was Muslim. I considered him a brother and good friend. But he moved in 2010.
It's German that's an ugly language. It's so harsh and gutteral. It sounds like cussing. 🙁
Spanish is influenced/created from latin, of course not from arabic..
Actually, about a quarter of the words in the Spanish language come from Mosarabe (a version of Arabic). The rest primarily come from Latin.

Catherine Simone A lot of CDs come with little booklets with the lyrics.
PyroGothNerd I know, but I usually don't buy CDs, I prefer youtube...

Yeah, but what I'm saying is whoever uploaded the lyrics video likely had the CD, which may be how they knew the lyrics.

wellfudgethis Thanks for saying what I was thinking. Racists will be in for a shock in 2044 when the census predicts Latinos/Hispanics will be majority and whites the minority.
Wasn't whites always the minority? But I feel bad for the whites in Europe.
Funny how homophobes criticizes Islam for being homophobic while they hate homosexuality.
Yeah I don't know why probably because of 9/11, but there's been terrorist attacks before 9/11.
this song's lyrics makes me grew some goosebumps. quite powerful message there. its beautiful
