Great video. I have 5 tiger salamanders, in a 48"X18" terrarium, with doors that slide on each side. I have a land side, and a water side, separated with a cork log. If you keep the water shallow, about 2", they will swim a bit, or just hang out in the water. I tried sprigtails years ago, and they do a great job keeping the tank clean. I have been using New Zealand sphagnum moss for years, love it, and it's mold resistant.

I have a serious question! I have fungus gnats in my tiger salamander set up. So beneficial nematodes harm salamanders? Specifically Steinernema feltiae
I use various size screwdrivers heat it up in the flame of my stove to easily burn holes in the Sterilite type containers with snaps on top, which you can get as a very low price at Walmart. Your ventilation holes on the side seem very low, I hope no feeder insects Escape. Dubia roaches breathe very fast even at room temperature as long as you keep them dry. I get just about most of what I need from Amazon Prime with free shipping.
Well I have a tiger salamander but by accident. My friend had caught some mud puppies and I took one. Over time it started to change its form I thought it was normal but then I started to research and it turned out it was a Tiger salamander. And I have no idea what I should do I do take care of it like keeping the tank moist and feeding it insects but I don’t know if I should release it because it came from the wild so should I release it back?
How many times a week and how many roaches would you feed? Should they be kept with other salamanders? Would I change the eco earth evrey month? Sorry that is a lot of questions 😅 (edit:AHHH also would this work the same as fire salamanders?)(edit again: would you spray the invlosure evrey day?)
Reptitan888 They need 70% humidity and temps of 68-75. They prefer cool dark places so as long as you have a comfortable room temp, heating isn’t needed.

what kind of plants are safe for the tank for salamanders?
I have a serious question! I have fungus gnats in my tiger salamander set up. So beneficial nematodes harm salamanders? Specifically Steinernema feltiae
Where can I get one?
how do you go about cleaning there spray bottle.?
It might die if u release it after keeping it for too long, but it might be ok also, 50-50 chance, who knows
how often should I give it calcium with d3? whats a safe level of calcium ex. 2-3 times per week and how many quarts is the tub you are using?
Where did you get the Container? Just wondering?
How many times a week and how many roaches would you feed? Should they be kept with other salamanders? Would I change the eco earth evrey month? Sorry that is a lot of questions 😅 (edit:AHHH also would this work the same as fire salamanders?)(edit again: would you spray the invlosure evrey day?)
What are the temps and humidity? I know you said that they need high humidity. I am also guessing
Heat Mat>Heat Lamp.
Reptitan888 They need 70% humidity and temps of 68-75. They prefer cool dark places so as long as you have a comfortable room temp, heating isn’t needed.
@@reptiliangarden i would definitely get one if I had a bigger reptile capacity. LOL :D
No no heat Lamp or mat! Salamanders like cool Temps and low light, keep Temps around 65F-72F max
I need help with my salamander...
🙏 Thank you!
Would the same setup work for a Red Salamander?
Can this also be used for a fire salamander???
Really informative video!! I really wish that this had come out before I got my salamander- but I am looking forward to be a better salamander owner! Also, where can you get the spring worms? (Side note: Ponyo looks so cute!)
sprigtails, some pet stores carry them, and I got mine at a reptile show
I just found one in a parking lot last night lol. Coop little guy so far
That is a California tiger salamander, quite different looking than the one I found under a log as a kid in MN
Yes it's a barred tiger salamander
California tiger salamanders look a lot different than these... it's mostly black with some yellow spots. AFAIK they are also super illegal to keep as pets because they're endangered. This one is almost certainly a barred tiger salamander... they are the prettiest and get the biggest.
