The letter carried by the Defias messenger provides more evidence for both the Stranglethorn pirate connection, and the Defias' need for metal, which could explain the Gnolls in Redridge taking the iron pikes etc. 'We need your supplies from the North. Strip everything: every railroad pike, every waterbucket. We need metal. A shipment is due from BB but long overdue. Come through for me, Blacknails. Send your supplies directly to the "barn" this time. No time to squander.'
And not only the bandits. Most "generic monster camps" have some significance. Before Jediwarlock's videos, I didn't even know what a backstory gnolls have, or that kobolds are mining for the defias too.
Great video! I never made the connection between the various gnolls in Redridge and the Defias, but it seems so obvious now with the rivets and ore mentioned in those quests!
Hillsbrad Foothills the area from the UPLANDS valley to the water and one of the houses they used to be quests there before Cataclysm . i forget the quest giver gave a quest to take back a couple items they took and there was a bunch of them in the area and after the Cataclysm happen there isnt as many in that area as there once was .
While I agree this partly true, there are some intresting quests and enviromental storytelling in both Horde Kalimdor and the Forsaken areas. For example the Shadow Council conspiracy and the Burning Blade, which might even inolve Mankirk. The quests in Lordaeron were laughbly evil compared to every other race in the game, which suited the character of the Forsaken. So I wouldn't say that the Horde quests were 100% unintersting. I belive the Tauren got the worst of it, the quests are quite dull BUT makes the starting starting zone for the Tauren quite nostalgic. You really get the feeling that you're sheltered from most of the conflicts in Azeroth. Cheers.
Unfortunately, those quests are few and never really go anywhere - I mean around Neeru Fireblade and the warlock conspiracy. Mankrik is likely not involved - he is a Blademaster, which although they traditionally come from the Burning Blade clan, they tend to be quite opposed to demon worshipping
Wonder if there weren't more plans on expanding more mundane enemy factions like this, but the world ending threats took over in writing and now everything has to be grand.
I used to play as Horde on retail servers back in the day, so most Alliance quest lines were unknown to me until much later. I remember connecting the dots between Ashenvale, Duskwood and Silverpine Forest for the first time and it made me pay attention to details to whatever was in the quest text and various flavor texts scattered around the world. There are plenty of long quest lines in vanilla that go nowhere as they weren’t finished, but I never minded going all around the world for lore.
@@Jediwarlock I really enjoy the way TurtleWoW continues the storyline. I hope they not only add new quest lines, but continue the ones that were left unfinished.
Nah, while they got screwed over, they show themselves to be just as bad if not worse by terrorizing and running innocent farmers off of their land. While the defias brotherhood started with the stone masons, it absorbed and recruited lot of brigands and thieves who had nothing to do with it. I will not stand for pro defias propaganda. Also they use zanzil's mixture to create mindless slaves.
I see where you're coming from. I love the story of the Defias. The Cataclysm version of their story is cool too. But just because Stormwind screwed these guys over doesn't give them the right to rob and steal from people who had nothing to do with that.
Nonchalance of vanilla devs regarding whether you understanding what's going on or not, it's stunning. It's what makes this game so great. Story on it's own is nothing special.
True! The overarching narrative is up to you to discover, not something that's just put front-and-center with every single quest like they do now with retail lore.

I love those details! Thanks for pointing that out! :)
Awesome video, I really like how the Defias have such a big backstory instead of being mindless "orcs" most games make you start leveling with
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHH
I agree!! The narrative is so well-made :)

Can’t get enough of this content, you need more subs
I'm glad you're enjoying it! :D

It's these interconnected stories that made Vanilla WoW such a great game.
Very true! :)
Yes exactly, you don’t need world ending conflicts each expansions, just cool quests like this
I love these little "found" stories you gather. Thank you so much Jedi. Always draw me in and keep my love of stories, lore, and WoW strong.
You are so welcome! Thanks for tuning in as usual :)
Great video. Its nice seeing these small lore bits.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
"What if 100 cannons, but ship?"
- Van Cleef, probably
"And we'll have a murloc as the ship's cook!"
I really apprechiate these videos about quests, story lines, and the Defias. Thank you
You're welcome! :)
Awesome video pal ❤
Thank you! :)
I've been waiting for your videos!
Keep it up!
Very cool!
More on the way! :D
Excellent as always!
Thank you! :)
Very interesting video as always!
Thank you! :)
5:38 Is that Van Cleef standing on the edge?
I have to assume this is not actually there in the game but just put in video
Yes, just a prop for the video, not actually up there on the wall ;)
Nice research, rad video. ✌️
Thank you! :D
Wonderful video!
Thank you! :)
great video, as always.

Ooh the Bloodstone thieves at the Lordamere Internment Camp? That is an interesting idea to explore :D
more material to work with for my Cut Throat Alley Adventures
:D
great vid
Thank you! :)
YESS
:D
The Defias has the most stylish mask for a rogue. Not sure if they made it available for xmog in modern expansions.
Very true!! A highly coveted prize for low-level Rogues :)
They put so much love into the Alliance quests. Horde quests are like "ehh go kill those guys over there for me"
They ran out of time

Horde has their good moments, but I agree that Alliance is broadly more well-made and complete :)

I'd like to see those addressed in some sort of Classic+ in the future :)

Fighting the Defias in WoW always felt like "are we the baddies?" moment for me.

How do you capture such beautiful background scenery? The movement of the camera is so smooth. Just curious :)
Great question! I film on a private WotLK server that has special commands for camera movement and speed on there. :)
I love your videos so much
Thank you!
OR..... Mr smite saw the cows being used as livestock and got pissed
XD
great video, watched it twice
Awesome, thank you! :)
5:39 why is that npc there😳😳😳 never noticed before
It's a flying accessible side entrance to the non instances dead mines
@@Silly_Illidan u know if i can go there in wotlk?

Same!🤣

Hi Jedi!
This is so cool. I wish we could join the Defias, overthrow the Stormwind monarchy, and set up a democratic republic instead.
What Season of Discovery should have been
That would've been cool! :D
Is this a robot voice?
Nah it's my real voice haha
