Brad, I’m kind of curious how you get a house loan or rent an apartment when you make a living as a poker player? Do you just have to show you can make consistent income for them to believe you’re not a liability?
Love watching you grow as a player. I've been watching you for a while now and see much improvement in the way you think and when you make moves. You are so alert and retain information from previous hands and use that information to win hands. Loving watching you grow as a professional. Stay well and may your cards always be winners .
Brad you are the best man you've truly made it. Can't believe how short a time it's been since you were on reasonable streets in poker and you're crushing high rollers and playing insane nosebleeds. GG's, sir, gg's.
Hey Brad, I just started playing tournament poker at my local pubs about a month ago and yesterday I bagged my first win and a seat for our regional tournament. I would like to thank you for teaching me and educating me how to play poker.
Been watching so many of your videos since I found the channel a month or so ago, this for some reason is my favorite. Good thought processes and lots of good people you were playing with, both strategy and personality
Even though you play much higher than you used to play there is sooo much to learn from how you break it down! Thanks for putting out another amazing vlog!
You analysis has helped immensely and watching the videos is always fun and entertaining as well as educational. I especially like the racking-up since the stand-up game is an effort to force play against the odds. Once or twice a session, but it is for plungers and not really serious players/professionals.
That Cleveland Cavaliers line was comedy gold. 😂 Solid poker player, decent guitarist, comedian. I guess we can say you’re a jiggity of all trades, master of none?
@brad owen you dont know how happy my dad is seeing someone younger then him struggle with new technologie, he gave me the 'you see i am not the only one' look
Great stuff as always Brad, and I particularly enjoyed your outleveling Troy a few times. Btw, that comment about "Figure out what your opponents want, then disappoint them"? That's a Mike Caro original - one of the true OGs.
Brad Owen is the best poker vlogger on UA-cam by a wide margin. I've sampled most of the others, which range from pretty good to cringe-worthy, but it's the witty banter mixed in with solid hand analysis which makes this one the best. I also enjoyed the "making of" on your other channel. Thanks for your dedication to the craft!
Hey i played at the bellagio for the first time the 1st thru the 5th and took 1500 to 28,800!! Started at 5-10 took 4600 to 10-20 doubled first hand, long story short played 5 days and won every day!
The most entertaining poker vlog on UA-cam in my opinion. I definitely look forward on watching your posts on Mondays, I hope google is compensating you well! Along with how well your doing in poker.
Way to dig yourself out of that hole. Love watching these videos...even though I don't really play poker any more (and never played at anything close to those stakes).
brad your a good dude, and a dope poker player…i been watching you for months, blessing to your wins and losses… and sorry about your lost with your pops brother, may he rest in love… rooting for you bro!…🙏🏿💪🏿🤜🏿🤛🏻
Hey brad why did you u bet for value in that hand at 20:40 i don’t get what hand can call you that’s worse it’s a 1 liner to a straight and there’s a possible flush even top set is going to fold to 3/4 pot like u did
A pleasure to finally meet you briefly before the Seniors event and your photo shoot for the WPT Wednesday. Meant to ask you 1-10 how bummed are you the Giants didn’t get Aaron Judge, if at all. Oh well maybe they’ll get us some more pitching instead. Go 49ers!!
When you go to the Wynn, there is a great breakfast place in the Encore side "Espresso" with all kinds of good healthy choices. It's next to the Encore side hotel check in desk. Much better than a Starbucks. 6AM M-Thur to 3PM and Fri-Sun to 6PM The Wynn keeps their profits in that they set up their own restaurants and don't allow franchises to enter. AND they do a much better job of food quality.
Great stuff - great poker - great comeback abd I really love it when your voice overs are as witty as they were tonight - that’s def one of your super powers !! Can’t wait for the next video !!!
When you get caught bluffing it makes it easier to win in the long game because people think your dumb so they end up calling you off a lot more 😂 great game play 🔥💨🤑
Really nice play raising Troy’s bet when you had the straight and 4 hearts on the board. Sitting here thinking I would’ve played all these hands almost identical to you until that play. I probably would’ve called and watched him turn over some tiny heart in his hand lol
Short term fix for your focus issues with your new iPhone: try tap/hold the subject to lock the focus? You'll just need to refocus when you move the camera. Get in touch with AppleCare or visit a Genius Bar. Show them your videos. I reckon they'll listen and maybe implement a fix in a later software update.
I get the idea of showing against fish to induce action but I think you could have left him guessing on the KK or 88 hands. That might make him curious and more willing to mix it up against you in future spots.
The KK I had to show since it's the standup game. I actually don't really mind showing in any spot since it rarely ever makes a difference, especially if you're controlling the image you have at the table. If it did make a difference, I wouldn't be making YT videos and high stakes players would never play on streams or television.
@@BradOwenPoker honored to get a reply from the VlogFather. Get your point but there's a big difference between people seeing how you play generally on your YT videos and seeing how you're playing at the time in game! People call because they're curious.
Only thing I'd have done on that J8 loss is say "I don't think your A8 is good enough" before putting the chips in. That's what I put him on. Then I'd be praying a mix of the read and raise would work. Hope thanksgiving was good despite the empty seat at the table 😔
The Hard Rock MUG vlog is in 3 videos from now. They always come out about 3 weeks to a month after they happen, although I'll be putting out two a week in December so it should be a little quicker for some.
Great round. One thing I've noticed is that you don't seem to adjust your strategy enough for the stand up hands. Bluffs are crazy hard to get through on those hands and although it's tempting to try, you're gonna get called more often than the stat sheets say you will....
Troy seems like a cool guy. I almost feel like just smooth calling the 5h turn with the set of 8's was the play there because his hand seemed so face up and you don't want to scare him. But still very nice fold by him, and great comeback. Those really do feel better than the wins sometimes.
The T7s hand - Phil galfond has a great free UA-cam video about this kind of spot. It’s called “poker philosophy (1)”. He basically talks about when is a scare card not a scare card. Coincidentally the bluffer in his first hand example had T7s on a coordinated flop. Turn and river were two broadway bricks. Anyway, I have found against bad opponents, they will fold to scare cards no matter what but stronger opponents are more likely to read the runout as good for their hand and they will find calls sometimes. Since this guy was a strong opponent I think the river bluff was not great
If you slow it down frame by frame at 14:50, Troy said he had a suited ace, you can see he mucked a queen, so doubting he had a suited ace to back that up
10:00, it’s very interesting to trap with aces in this spot. Bencb put this concisely once that in theory you mostly should look to trap vs wide preflop ranges, and fast play AA and KK pre vs perceived tight ranges. SB 3-bet vs UTG+1 open should be an extremely tight range, so AA could lose a lot of value by not 4-betting. In theory, you should maybe almost never trap AA when opening EP and getting 3-bet by EP, SB or BB. More natural traps come from CO open vs Button 3-bet, button open vs sb 3-bet-wide vs wide spots. Trap flatting +1 vs SB does risk missing value vs high pairs, especially 1010 and JJ which could see an over card on the flop. You could worry that 4betting telegraphs that you have AA and KK and will get your opp to overfold, but if that’s true you should throw in some suited wheel 4bets and AK, and take the 4bet bluff opportunities. Still this spot has more considerations like low SPR and very loose table dynamics, so the flat is prob fine. But who cares what I say, I’m a UA-cam pro losing player at the micros. :)

Troy was one of my favorite players on brads vlogs so far ha. A simple man who played well
Haha, he definitely made the vlog interesting
Troy seems to be a worthy opponent for sure even if he's drunk 😂
He got me good when I was bluffing, then decided to never call me again hahaha. Well played Troy...
I like Troy's style. He may not win, but he gets it in, for sure.
Seems like a cool guy to play with lol
I appreciate that Troy went head to head with you even if he didn't get as many good hands as he bluffed. Dude has some stones.
