Here is my all original 1979 Mustang Cobra V8 manual. A very cool Fox Body Mustang. Love these. What do you think? Please give the Cobra a 👍Like👍 and please Subscribe. Thanks for watching. 👍
I would love to wander through your entire collection one day.
So would I! I beed to have everything in one place. That is the plan. 👍
Excellent. Aside from the wear and tear, good condition for its age, a bit like me 😄
They call that Patina 😀👍
I had five years of great Oxford white 81 Fox Mustang Hatch ownership. As well as Fairlane tail lights, it had Cortina power steering, early four stud Escort Cortina bolt patten for easy fitment of the those LMR TRX 16" wheels you also have. And for 1979 year only, the XD Falcon 4.9 4bbl matching performance the little 2bbl Manual 79 5.0 Mustang had. I'm just delighted how a 140 hp car with just 104 kilowatts with a tiny 47 litre fuel tank can get off its butt and still do 10 litres per 100 kms at 100 km/h with that looping overdriven fourth gear. And its a really smooth car with a great gearbox shift and exhaust sounds for a catalyst era car. ❤️🤘✔️
Great cars hey. 👍
love these videos on the 70's fords Mark great stuff !
Thanks very much. 👍
Certainly authentic. Have fun Mark.
@@michaelguerin56 Thanks. There is a bit to do but it is all there. 👍
What a great car to have in your collection. Will be fun to drive when it’s completed. Very nice
Thanks very much. 👍
I'm glad you're happy with it. Buying from overseas you always wonder 'til it actually arrives.
Cheers, -5c here in Canberra tonight.
Yes. I’ve bought quite a few over the years. Chilly hey. More like 5 here. 👍
Nice find. The red interior is pretty Funky.
Thanks. I really liked that too plus the orange decals. 👍
Great cars, love mine. 🐍
Agree! 👍
Beautiful addition to your collection Mark! Glad to see someone else have a love for the fox bodies. Looking forward to seeing more content on the old girl
Thanks. I have always thought this was a great looking car for 1979. 👍
It's nice to see someone who loves the first year Fox body, as everyone always seems to only focus on the later ones. I agree. The '79 Cobra is my favorite also. I would love to find a 5.0 4-speed as well (preferably sunroof delete). You have a beautiful car sir. One area to look for rust to hide is if you get underneath, and look up between the outer skin and the inner trunk/ hatch tub at the very back of the car (the rear panel that houses the taillights, numberplate etc). Good luck with your restoration. Get it back on the road and drive the wheels off it. You got a new sub.
@@1DarkBaron Thanks very much. Agree, I would prefer no sunroof but it was such a cool example I had to buy it. Will check that area for rust. Thanks for the sub 👍
Wow very nice cobra a rare car indeed. Love it.
@@phillipm1039 Thanks. Me too! 😀👍
Hi Mark, I love these Fox Mustangs this was the Mustang of the 1980's , reminds me of the Ford Capri MK3 ( 1978-1987 ) Both cars are very similar in dimension I'm Glad you got one of these cars I have had a ride in one a few times, was about 25-30 years ago. My in law's neighbours daughter had a white 1980 Mustang 3.3 Ghia 6 cylinder automatic originally came to the UK from Ford imports in London and made for UK market, the rear lights were changed with the MK3 Capril tail lights ( amber indicators and rear fog lights ) 13 inch Ghia alloy wheels the same as on a 1980 Cortina Ghia, as it was a UK spec car it was built in RHD these cars were built to order I don't think there was a V8 option only the 2.8 V6 ( Capri engine fitted ) 3.3 straight 6 or the 2.3 turbo 4 cylinder, a very nice car.
As a coincidence the also had a Chevrolet Caprice V8 I think it was a 1978-79 car in metallic blue and as the Mustang it was in RHD , with the original tail lights the reversing lights were fitted with amber bulbs and use as indicators and bolt on fog and reversing lamps on the rear bumper. Can't wait to see how you get on with this car, this is going to be a good project, catch you soon Take care
Thanks Shaun. Sounds like that family had some cool cars back in the day. 👍
Nice car I haven’t seen one out here. Living in the 70s cool
And, as Maxwell Smart would say, Lovin it! 😀👍
G'day Mark. Sweet looking car. Although I was way too young at the time to drive a car, I remember the Fox Bodied Ford Mustang.
Thanks. They are cool aren’t they. 👍
Mark, now you're talking! I imported an '89 Foxy Convertible two yrs ago...sweet! They are a cool car, and all the parts are available on CJs 👍👍👍👍✌ Keep us posted on this one man...I am a HUGE fan ❤
Nice, per the video I have three Fox Body Mustangs. They are terrific. Will do. I will create a playlist as I start fixing it up. 👍
@@markbehr88 Awesome man!! Im surprised we don't have a heap of them here, they are a cracker of a car! I also have a '66 Convertible, she's also cool of course, but the Foxy is something special and a bit less "precious",, but still 100% cool. I shot some pics to you via email.
Cool. I will check them out. I love them. My Washington HWY Patrol coupe is the injected 5 litre multi injected 5 speed manual with all the heavy duty cop options incl silicone hoses, extra bracing, coolers, cop wheels etc. one key for everything. The GT convertible has about 50,000 original miles on it. 👍
Another project it seems. I recall this model. It really came a long way since 1979 too. You have quite the collection of Mustangs on the Fix platform. You know there was a Mercury version called Capri too. I liked the fact you mentioned and showed the other Fox platform cars and showed our Fairmont. Totally different from the Australian one. I smiled when you shared the Lincoln too. Iliked the fact you showed how they shared parts with the Australian Fords too.
Thanks. Yes plenty of projects. This one not too onerous plus what a cool combination. The Olds 98 is pretty well ready to go so won’t be a project per se. 👍
Nice Design !!! Congratulations
Thanks very much. 👍
What a great original car and also special badging!
I nearly said leave the hail damange but then saw the boot and understood what you meant lol
Hopefully it does appreciate in value (even though I know it's your reason for buying), but it's still nice car to have!
Yes, I’ll fix the hail damage (which I knew about). I love it. Looking forward to working on it. 👍
Very cool, you have quite a collection 👌
Thanks. Yes, I do have a few. 👍
It's always a bit of a punt in the dark, buying sight unseen from overseas, but this one certainly looks ok and should be an easy restoration - as much as any of them are easy, that is! 👍
Yes, it won’t need too much. I am happy with it. 👍.
Nice ride ❤👍
Thanks 👍
Reminds of the the movie The Wraith.
I will have to check it out 👍
I miss the manuals. The xe yellow T and L ex highway car was the best. Very upset I got rid of that years ago
Yes, good to have a few manuals for something different. 👍
Very nice Mark even with all the damage due to age and the wheels to me Mark seem very similar to the ED Fairmont wheels. Maybe this Mustang was a bit of inspiration?
I’m sure it was. Once the new dash top and seat kit is fitted plus what I have in mind to fix the fading, it will look dramatically better. Then, the hail and paint work plus new Cobra decals and a dual exhaust will finish it off. 👍
@@markbehr88 The interior colour looks to be the same as the LTD silver monarch which you will get to no doubt in a future video.
@@AussiePom Yes, I will cover that off when I do the P6 LTD. 👍
Not a bad bit of kit. Being of the Cobra variety does the Windsor have a few mods over the standard?
Thanks. I think just the 4V. I would have to go through the brochure. Sports gauges, wheels, decal kit, air intake on bonnet. 👍
Four-eyed pride! I agree that these are the best looking of that shape.
Hey Mark is that gearbox a SROD? This year model predates the T5 by a couple of years.
Thanks. It is a 3 speed with O/D so predates the T5. 👍
@@markbehr88 yep... SROD (single rail overdrive). I believe it was Ford's attempt to make an overdrive box by rejigging the toploader. 3rd became the o/d gear and 4th (direct) became 3rd. Case is alloy vs iron for the older box.
@@gergatron7000 very interesting. 👍
The amount of them sold must of kept Ford afloat during the 80's.
Yes, it was a big seller. This is a 1 of 1 based on the options. 👍
Very desirable car looks very original as well .. BUT i don’t like the left hand drive side of the car my father was one of the first to convert mustangs to right hand drive in Australia 🇦🇺 before i was born in Jan 1980
I have a few converted US cars but have to say, leaving them original left hand drive is so much better. Plus, all the US parts are a direct fit. 👍
I never understood why they went from calling the engine a 302 ci , to calling it a 5 litre, considering America didn't go metric. By the way , why are they called Fox bodies? why Fox?
It was more “European”. I think Fox was simply the code name for the programme. 👍
USA twice attempted to go metric, in 1975 and again in 1988 but old habits die hard I guess.
@@judgedread-q4t They never went metric in America, but with tyre sizes , they are partly metric , an example being 265mm x 50mm x 15 inches, and , we still use inches for tyre diameters, and for wheel widths and diameters.🤔
@@judgedread-q4t I do love the old Imperial I must say. 👍
@@markbehr88 Yes, but when it comes to measuring tapes , I'm appreciative of metric, but I always buy one with inches and feet on it as well.
TRX wheels sucked, Mark! hard to find later in the 80's 5.0 cast wheel far better , than the TRX
I love these wheels. Plus the 10 hole alloys on my 86 GT 👍
