I like how it uses just regular 6 sided dice you can pick up basically anywhere.
I've got nothing against d20's and other things like that, but theres just something.. oddly comfortable and simple about just rolling regular 6 sided dice.
Also I always tend to forget that Shadowrun started out as a pen and paper type of RPG game, having played the videogames on and off for well over 30 years now.
Nice to see its still alive and kicking :)

They released 6th Edition fairly recently, my group is still on 5th though. From what I've heard it's pretty unplayable though, some online groups have abandoned it and gone back to 5th, or just moved onto other games.

Great video - I've not played 4th edition, so this was interesting to see the rule changes-especially 'initiative' and 'combat' - no more staging. Small note, but I think when you were counting down the damage 07:30 onwards, I believe you misspoke. I think the damage should have been 2P not 3P, unless there is something I missed?

Yep should have been 2P, and I also forgot to add in his 1 point of natural armour for being a Troll, so should have rolled an extra dice as well. Kind of messed that bit up.
While 4th Edition does lose a bunch of stuff which made the earlier editions more interesting and quirky, it is a sound and very playable system which doesn't make high initiatives the most important thing in combat.

@@RPGGamer I've got a few PDFs of 4th edition that I'm going to look through more closely. Is this the edition that introduced skill limits? Is that even a thing? Maybe I'm mixing up games? As always, I really enjoy your videos.

Can you mix tech, weapons, cyberware, etc from 5th or 6th and use the core rules for 4th? Because that would be spectacular.

They generally have conversion tables in each edition for equipment and cyberware from older books, so I guess you could just reverse those rules to include items from newer editions.

Are you going to be covering the 20th Anniversary edition? I think rules-wise it is basically the same as 4e, but in a much more beautiful book. 4e is so ugly, I think it's the worst of all the Shadowrun books aesthetically.

I don't actually own a physical copy of the 20th Anniversary edition, and some of them look pretty pricey on ebay, is it worth a buy, especially at 100+?

@@RPGGamer The SR4A core book has better editing. It has a handful of additions to character generation the probably should have been there to begin with.
If money's an issue, it would be cheaper to buy a pdf, print, put sleeves over them and set them in a slim binder.

This game is dumb with rules

Shadowrun has always been rules heavy.
