Battle Barge is just a such a great name for warhammer 40k. Battle brought in massive a quantity that the label of ship no longer suffices. Only something crude, ungainly can illustrate the sheer destruction on tap of a battle barge
'The magi of Ryza had forged the very first part of the Tempestus around the ancient cogitator that contained its machine-spirit. Even before they had laid the first beams of the battle-barge’s keel, they had constructed a housing for the cogitator that dated back to the pre-Imperial history of Mars itself. Such spirits were rare and irreplaceable, relics of the Dark Age of Technology where other such spirits had, legend had it, became a threat to the very species that had made them. Now only the wisest and most trustworthy had survived the purges of the Age of Strife, and were numbered among the oldest relics of humankind. Around that spirit had been built the Tempestus, a voidgoing war machine granted by bonds of ancient fealty from the priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to the Space Marines of the Adeptus Astartes. The ship became the most powerful weapon in the arsenal of the Astral Knights, and a succession of Masters of the Fleet took her as their flagship. While her weaponry was of ancient and powerful marks and her structure made sound with alloys and techniques all but lost to the Mechanicus, it was her spirit that made her the weapon she was. Locked in the stacks of datamedium was battle-wisdom from wars that had vanished from the memory of mankind. Every move the ship’s crew made was shadowed by the spirit, assisted or even ignored in accordance with that wisdom. The Master of the Fleet had to treat the spirit of the Tempestus as another member of the Chapter or they would find their helm commands ignored as the spirit made its own decisions. When they showed the ship the respect due to such an ancient warrior, they found in the Tempestus an ally as close as any battle-brother...' '‘The Tempestus was laid down in the dockyards of Ryza.’ ‘Four thousand years ago. Only six such battle-barges were ever constructed, and only three still sail. The secrets of their construction have long been lost. But each of the Ryzan class were renowned for the steadfastness of their construction. They were built to run minefields and asteroid blockades. Impacts that would break another ship apart can be suffered by a Ryzan without destruction. That the Tempestus still takes to the void after the battles she has seen is testament to that.’' - Brother Captain Captain Sheherz, Master of the Fleet. Of the Astral Knights Adeptus Astartes Chapter. 'The Victus stretched out below Balthiel like an armoured continent. The Flesh Tearers flagship was a colossal vessel. Teeming with weaponry, it was possessed of a near-impenetrable hull, wrapped in kilometres-thick slabs of ceramite armour. By the Victus’s guns had the populace of a thousand worlds died, its lance batteries boiling away their atmospheres as its seismic torpedoes shattered their tectonic plates.' A few words about The Victus, flagship and the only Battle Barge class vessel in the Flesh Tearers Chapter Fleet. 'At the edge of the galaxy floated an iron cathedral, an edifice of great beauty raised not to peaceful gods but to war. For ten thousand years it had plied the stars, bringing destruction and salvation in equal measure. The enemies of mankind had long learnt to fear it, as had those it protected. War followed the ship as surely as night follows day. It was called the Eternal Crusader: a vast battle-barge, the mightiest of its type ever built, ten kilometres long, whose keel was laid in the inconceivable past. The sides and forward-thrusting spine of the Eternal Crusader were festooned with the tools of death; its hangars were the eyries of war-angels, ever poised to open and rain the champions of mankind upon benighted worlds. So long after others of its kind had ceased to be, or had turned away from the crusade of the Emperor to stage a faltering defence against the all-consuming dark, the Eternal Crusader fought on for a broken dream. Ancient, weakened by age, its corridors and chambers were empty compared to the days of its might, but its heart remained strong, its reactor pulsed hot. Still it sailed, bloody and furious, into reaches of space abandoned or forgotten, there to do battle with the alien, the heretic and the creatures of the warp, and to claim their domains as the Emperor’s own... Steeped in blood, hardened by the failure of ancient dreams, the spirit of the Eternal Crusader was old and wicked in its bellicosity. Had it thoughts to form, it would not have cared for ideals of honour or of worship, only that there was a war to fight, and that it would be at the forefront of that war. How its masters would feel at this ambivalence, none would ever know. Ships have no voices, and if the Black Templars had an inkling of the nature of the ship’s spirit, they would not have told. The Adeptus Astartes are jealous of their secrets. Let it be known then that the aims and choleric nature of the Black Templars accorded well with the tempers of the Eternal Crusader’s angry soul. They still have Macragge's Honour, the largest Gloriana-class starship still in service, measuring 27 kilometres long. There was one for each Primarch and it was supposed to represent the soul of their Legion and be their ultimate flagship. Although, they mosty used it as a flying monument, rarely deploying it for war. Propably one of the main reasons for why it's still around, now that I think about it.

You should reach out to some of the other content creators (if you have not yet made contact already) - I'm sure there are many collaborative opportunities for you in the greater 40k UA-cam community. For example, I would love to see you featured in an episode of Alfabusa's "if the emperor had a TTSD" series as a voice part (or perhaps even as a guest writer). I think you would be great on a podcast as well.
My favourite of all 40K ships - wasn't 40K. It was a 30K ship that may not (apparently) even be Warhammer/Rogue Trader, rather it was (allegedly in recent years - don't ask me who said this, I don't remember) an image lifted from somewhere else and placed into either the Lore book or Rule book of the Space Hulk rerelease known as Space Crusade. Regardless that massive beauty with miles high and wide cylindrical cities on her dorsal hull is just... well, beautiful.
Awesome video as always. I have a question for you. I have been writing the lore for my very own space marine successor chapter. They employ great companies(they are 1500 marines strong), and are a primaris successor to blood angels. I have been thinking about their fleet, and I feel like the flagship should be something bigger than a regular battle barge. So my question is, would it be too far of a stretch to give them something as big as a retribution or emperor class battleship?
Death Company Battle Brother it’s be a push, but it could have been granted by the Navy for something, an act of stupendous bravery. It’s be rare, I’d wager, but a Battle Barge can be anything. So why not? Your army. Just make up an amazing story on why they have it. :).
@@Baldermort The chapter has strong ties with both the mechanicum and Guilliman, since they came with him on Baal to save the BA, and were the first to make landing on the planet. Now they perform a guard duty in the sector, so I guess figuring out something won't be too difficult. Thanks for the quick answer and as always, keep up the good work, you are amazing.
Few problems can be address. First , those void ship is for the imperial navy. The sm have 3 class of ship, the battle barge , Strike cruiser and escort like the gladius frigate. Those 3 ships are design for sm void doctrine. Second , those battleship are relic of destruction for the navy and you will need a really exeptional reason for a chapter to pocess it without insane politics backslash. Here a exemple ,my chapter is always escort with 2 gothics class cruiser for each fleets. The reason is my chapter work a lot with the ordo xenos and malleus. They want always intel for my chapter but we are very secretive. After fews accidents , it will better to keep a eye on the iron ghost all the time. It is the short version
It's such a minor detail, an off-handed comment easily forgotten, but truly? It was my favourite part of this video, given that it is from the perspective of the Vlka Fenryka; Harald's hatred of the orks, not because of ((at least entirely)) they are alien, but because of the destruction and death they deal to the people of the Imperium. It so easily and simply shows the humanity and care that lies hidden beneath the savage, bestial appearance of the Vlka Fenryka.
thank you, brother Sorcerer. I personally think the Sons of Russ are very courageous and probably closer to their core than most. Look at how they threw down with the grey knights over the human population of Armageddon? Just my view though. :)
One of the few parts of Space Marine law not changed recently. New tanks, guns, weapons and even genetic enhancement. But they still use the mighty Battlebarge. This makes me smile.
I love Space Wolves you always think they’d go straight for the fight but in reality they’re one of the most efficient chapters and take impressively good care of their ships.

There once was a famous fighter, anointed by the king in ancient france. After his death, all other knights swore to carry on his battle tactics, named after him in his honor, for all wars to come. His name was Sir Render.
Great video as always but for future episodes can you list off famous ships of the category or how some characters make unique modifications. I love the little details 40k has to offer but with how inconsistent the writers are about space vessels I find myself not knowing what is cannon anymore or what a particular author wanted to throw in for fun.

The main weapon of the battle barges are the space marines themselves, in full-blown void combat, Astartes pilots are a very dangerous opponent, superhumans combat veterans with equal arms and armor to boot, that being said most Astartes will use a type of pressured sealed scout armor rather than full blow power armor, Attack fighters at times reinforced further by dedicated Imperial navy pilots make the spear formation capable of piercing the nearly any enemy defences, while the attack crafts use their high speed to strike at the joints and other weak spots of their foes, the heavy gunships and bombers will deliver the finishing blow, targeting the enemies own reactor, taking out the communication array or destroying the launch bay of another ship,

Best part of Theology Thursday’s is Firestorm Friday’s....when we purge the xenos and chaos scum that failed to repent from the day before....
Prolific, prolific! I've been hearing your voice in my head this entire day on the tractor, somehow the words humble servant looping and looping... excited for another installment, even though exhausted by BaldCon and the attending masses of hot-dog devouring devotees.
Napalm Wabbit lol!!! I missed the hotdog van! Pants. :(. I love a hotdog. :).
I'm looking forward to the hopes of a taco van at the now much anticipated Baldcon 2
Another amazing video.
That's 2 in 1 day!
The first made me laugh out loud and the second made me go back to putting Templars together.
Well done mate. I hope you and yours are doing well.
stephen carpenter thank you brother Carpenter. Glad you liked both types. :).
Doing fine. Hope you and yours are all well too sir. :).
Dude... best 40k channel on UA-cam by far in my taste. Just amazing content!
Second video i have watched form this guy, subscribed and a fan already.
Thanks Majorkill for doing a colab with him.
When you call the Battle Barge a armoured box I'm reminded of the old dawn of war "METAL BOXES!!"
I loved this episode and I loved the audio drama at the start, I am huge fan of spaceships and the 40k ships are in my top ten. I was looking forward to this episode all week, it really delivered!
Bohdan Bilas thank you brother Bohdan. :). Glad you liked it. :).
I really enjoy your vid. I enjoy more our general progress
Excellent stuff as always brother keep up great videos.
John Gillett thanks for listening brother Gillett. :).
Ahh the Eternal Crusader, easily the greatest of all battle barges.
True. We may have to talk about her very soon! :)
Love your videos man
RK7 thank you for listening and taking the time to comment, brother RK. ;).
I enjoy your storytelling man thank you
Love the sound effects!
See Baldermort, this is another one of your stories, I feel, could have continued for another hour. Enjoyed it thoroughly. It will certainly be one hell of a fight indeed.
Scuffy the Tug Boat grew up to be big and strong.
Always a pleasure. The first one I ever heard of was the Litany of Fury.
I adore these Baldemort, but do you ever get to rest?
Ian Saviet I get a day off a week. :). It’s enough. :).
Marvelous work as usual, Brother!!
You are a great V/o actor, source of lore and community leader! I really hope to see your channel grow as huge as it deserves! I think you would be great on a podcast as well.
i enjoy how your videos go from dark to cutsey music and happy voice always makes me smile
You wouldn’t want to barge into a Battle Barge!
Bahahahahaha me too!!!
That.was.TREMENDOUS! Now, with your bardic skill and talent, you must tell the tale of...THE ANGRY MARINES!!! I know it will be LEGENDARY!
Baldermort's Guide to Warhammer. They are rock!!!!
One of the few parts of Space Marine law not changed recently. New tanks, guns, weapons and even genetic enhancement. But they still use the mighty Battlebarge. This makes me smile.
Yayyy new video☺
Be safe & heathy!
Viorela Grindean thank you sister. Be careful yourself. Be well! ;).
I love the opening audio drama and especially the space wolves. Such an awesome chapter of the Astartes
Epic intro, Good Sir! Made me reminisce. Good fun, thanks! TTFN!
I'm not a big fan of the space puppies but I love battle barges. To me they are one of the most versatile ships. Great video sir.
Love your vids. The new servo skull is pretty awesome too.
Thank you Brother Baldemort for another great guide!!
I love Space Wolves you always think they’d go straight for the fight but in reality they’re one of the most efficient chapters and take impressively good care of their ships.
I have so much catching up to do, thanks for doing what you do!
Michael Nuss my pleasure brother Nuss. Enjoy!!! :).
The supreme 40k ASMR channel
Love the Channel as always. Up there with the greats
have my babies - your voice is so perfect for wh40k. your vocal cords are truly mighty.
Celestial Cavalry, The Spears of the Emperor 💀
Another reason to love Warhammer:
City sized cathedrals in space.
I love the way you tell stories, keeping me occupied living in a lighthouse on Bruny in covid worl. donation sent cheers mate. Anything to do with a lighthouse or similar in 40K? Closest i can think of is navigating the warp. Thanks again!!!
@Bladermort's Guide to Warhammer :
What do you think about the Fan 50k & 60K Timeline , as read by Neckberdia ? The one where Vulcan kicks ass in the End Times , with Cadia still existing along with many Petty Imperiums and that Epic last stand at Titan by the Grey Knights , The Inquesition and the Custodes.
So it's like a massive Land Raider I'm space but can transport 300ish Astartes in a variety of ways including with a variety of insane weapons.
There once was a famous fighter, anointed by the king in ancient france. After his death, all other knights swore to carry on his battle tactics, named after him in his honor, for all wars to come.
His name was Sir Render.
The battle barge that hammer for every problem that is a nail.
Was a nail....was.....after a BB.....yeah. Nuff said.
Absolutely EPIC...Work of art!
I think a quote from real life is necessary here. "Movement without fire is suicide, fire without movement is a waste of ammunition." ;D
Great video as always but for future episodes can you list off famous ships of the category or how some characters make unique modifications. I love the little details 40k has to offer but with how inconsistent the writers are about space vessels I find myself not knowing what is cannon anymore or what a particular author wanted to throw in for fun.
"-a massive , armored box"
*METAL BAWKES flashback*
you are in overdrive my bother keep up the good work
Thanks brother James. I hope you are looking after yourself. :)
Great video so hard to find a good video on imperial navy
Greetings brother Baldermort i know this message will find your gaze. As such" much has come to pass in the short time since the last meal of reading, I have found many others in attempt of narration to halt my hunger of lore only to find them greatly lacking" In so many way's, It angers me deer brother, As the cowardly TAU forgoes melee, so to" they forgo the truth of the grim dark as if reciting tails to children with soft sugary sweat voices, as if men't to lay babes to bed. Complete "Disgust" is the sensation that takes my mind, By the Emperor's "flaming wrath" Thankfully such heresy has been blotted out, with a swift swing of the chainsword and the blessed bolters graceful touch another foe falls "Ah" the rich depth of substance that is the grim dark sooth's the nerves but only with a true connoisseur of the art, here i find myself satiated once more at your table of narration dears't brother Baldamort
i look forward to your next dish. Your brother YAHDAHA p.s Death to the alien/ mutant/ heretic/and those that are not mentioned.
That is a nice battle barge you have there, you should gift it to the blood ravens for helping you
Cc command centre , troops enjoy bladermoerts video ,don't suppose you have the guards uplifting primer do you ?
Always great seeing the fleet getting some love
First to the peek of Ship/HQ/City Allrounder Design
Baldemort tell me are you a faithfull servant of the Emperor of Humanity?
Karima Kadj when I okay my angels or fists or guard, of course I am. :).
I need to know your location, Khorne will like your skull in his vault.
Have you ever recorded any novels? I'd love to listen to you read a book before bed 😁
Amazing as always!
wow watched a video earlier today 19k subs now 20k Gratz dude ^^
The main weapon of the battle barges are the space marines themselves, in full-blown void combat, Astartes pilots are a very dangerous opponent, superhumans combat veterans with equal arms and armor to boot, that being said most Astartes will use a type of pressured sealed scout armor rather than full blow power armor,
Attack fighters at times reinforced further by dedicated Imperial navy pilots make the spear formation capable of piercing the nearly any enemy defences, while the attack crafts use their high speed to strike at the joints and other weak spots of their foes, the heavy gunships and bombers will deliver the finishing blow, targeting the enemies own reactor, taking out the communication array or destroying the launch bay of another ship,
Baldemort, have you already seen the new Astartes video part 5?! Let me tell you without spoiling, it was AMAZING!!! I think it gives the true atmosphere, the soul of the grim darkness of the far future. It's a work of art and I think it deserves your attention. Have a good one and I love your content. Stay safe.
Flo Marmousez oh holy throne have I seen it!!! It’s just as close to perfection as we are going to get. Imagery, action, drama, it’s got it all. In spades. And then some. Just mind blowing. :) :) :)
@@Baldermort Hello once again. I just wanted to say thanks for answering me. Please, if you have time, I would love to see your reaction on it, just to see what you think about all of this. It was so good, intriguing and even scary when watched alone at 3 in the morning. I don't want to force your hand, but I think people would love to see/hear it. At least, I'm sure I would. All right now, enough babbling. I 'll let you to your occupations. Everyone seems busy and worried nowadays. I just hope that you are aware of how I truly enjoy your content, even though many think that the grim darkness of the future cannot truly be represented by reading novels and stories, but I also think you do it justice and is what would come the closest to be just this. On this, be safe, and enjoy your weekend. Your fan and supporter, Flo.
whenever I see Battle barge I always think of the typical New York garbage barges
But with guns instead of trash.
Given the contents relative to size, equally as lethal.
Space Marine: Captain! Fly me closer! I want to hit it with my torpedoes!
Not just an armored box, An armored box carrying the Emperor's Best Boys.
I absolutly love your storytelling, if that part was from a book, please do a full reading (and give me a source)!
Alas, no. I write them myself. Sorry. :(
@@Baldermort You don't need to be sorry, you should write that book ;)
What an elegant and subtle ship.
Very cool mate, good stuff
Named for a generic cargo vessel, lacking any propulsion, and capable of carrying enough artillery to level and raze any target. Interesting.
"Admiral! We have contact! Its the Black Pearl." Hahhahahha
Whats your accent my friend? it is so effective for these little stories you read off. Keep it up! i'd concider downloading Raid Shadow legends if you advertised XD, but really love the narration, cheers.
Seven kilometres long and a full third of that is dedicated to the engines and reactors. When a Battle Barge wants to go somewhere it _is_ going to get there.
How dare you Barge in here!😂
Please do a video on the Emperor or retributor class Capitol ships of the most glorious Imperial Navy!!
Great video! Just subbed!
That Grizzled Long Fang...My type of guy
Event Horizon is a mockumentary of human technology crossing warp space rubicon to become a Chaos Space Hulk. That movie had the potential to be truly terrifying if it had a consistent tone without “comic relief”...
I was half expecting the 1st of April to be nothing but smack talk about the ekdar
Stefan Paszki why???!?? I love Eldar. Collect em all. :).
@@Baldermort it was a lore vid on necrons i think, where you tore eldar as a failed weapon to shreds...to shreds!
The verbal beat down was so hard every craftworlds wraithbone constructs cracked a little
It stuck with me.
Stefan Paszki ah that. It was the ork’s video, so of course there would be Eldar bashing. Like most siblings, they love to hate each other. :).
@@Baldermort yes. Thats the one. 12m tall orks had nothing on that krumpin
Stefan Paszki well, it’s all just a little bit of fun. :).
I’m an Eldar player, so it’s fine........ ? :)
