my dad legit screams at the top of my lungs when he vomits. he also makes a blubbering noise and both combined makes me nauseous as well. luckily i haven’t vomited from hearing him vomit but i’ve been close a few times. good to know i’m not the only one who has to deal with absolute nauseating sounds when someone vomits.
just in case someone tries to connect the dots with that story and mine, my dad is single and has been for years. if that story was posted to reddit like four or five years ago maybe our stories might’ve been related. so yeah if anyone screams while you vomit, stop. everyone around you most likely feels sick as well when they hear you scream-vomiting so please find a different way to vomit.

My dad can't read either, but that was due to a mix of him having learning issues and not wanting to learn. It was difficult for him, so he never actually tried to learn. Since getting more modern technology, he has started to learn a bit, but stubbornly says that he doesn't care that he can't read, he doesnt care that he needs help to go anywhere or read anything, and he doesnt want to read. He once got mad at me for reading a book and declared that he thinks that no one should read and that all books should be burned. I do not particularly understand him.

@@nicolahobbs5985 i mean probably but he won't admit that. It's bad enough that it's influencing my little siblings to also struggled with reading. It's not genetic because both me and my older sister were raised by our mom's and both read exceptionally well, my two little siblings being raised by my dad and stepmom are falling way behind, my little brother sees my dad at his age and thinks that it's not important to learn to read, my dad constantly says that they can't learn to read just like he couldn't but I've spoken to my grandparents, he never tried and they didn't make him apply himself in school
If he needs help all the time because he can't read, there's no point in enabling him. He needs to learn that reading is pretty much required to function in a society. He can't rely on others forever.

I have something to add to the "people treat me differently because of my weight" thing. Im a bit overweight now, its not that bad but it has affected the way people treat me.... but in a good way.
Its weird but this has been kind of good for me. When i was skinny i got a TON of sexual harassment and gross comments and unwanted attention, and a long time ago when i was a kid i was assaulted. Now for the most part its stopped and people treat me normally. (I'm a woman btw)
Now, I'm happy its stopped but I'm pissed that i had to literally become fat and unhealthy to get people to leave me the fuck alone. I shouldnt have to be fat to be treated like an actual human instead of a sex object. Its infuriating that i had to go through that, and i want to be healthy again and im trying to make that happen, but i cant get it out of my head that its gonna go back to how it was and I'm gonna get creeped on again.
Im honestly kinda scared. To get back in shape im gonna take jiu-jitsu or some other self defense so i can punch anyone who touches me. I dont deserve to be disrespected or treated like an object and i wont let it happen anymore.

It hurt A LOT, and I started obsessively checking his phone, he didn't even hide it, I would only check when he was watching me check it. It completely destroyed me, even now over a decade later I still get anxiety and (rarely) the need to snoop through my current partners phone, which by the way, I don't do. I communicate my anxiety to my boyfriend, who always offers to let me check, which I always decline because I don't want to fall back into old habits.
