  • Thassos is the northernmost Greek island in the Aegean Sea and is part of the Kavala regional unit.
    The island is surrounded by the crystal blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Around the coast there is a wide range of beaches, from large, deep beaches with many facilities to small, idyllic bays.
    Thassos economy relies on wood, marble quarries, honey, olive oil and tourism.
    An excellent coastal road surrounds almost the entire island, providing easy access to the many sandy beaches.
    Thassos was incredibly rich in ancient times, thanks to its vast deposits of gold and marble.
    Due to the large pine trees that cover most of the island, Thassos is called the "Emerald Island" of Greece.
    This video is almost a documentary about my ten day vacation on Thassos.....
