- Thassos today is known as the “Emerald Island” due to the lush vegetation and forests that make this island such a beautiful holiday destination. However, in ancient Greece, it was known as “The Athens of the North”, a title confirming the considerable reputation the island enjoyed.
The video is packed with info. about the beaches, villages, food, restaurants (taverns), archeological sites, prices, distances, accessibility, water quality, preferences, merchandise, leisure, shopping, accommodation e.t.c. Pretty much, there is enough info that you can use to easily navigate the island and find the most beautiful places and sites.

The island is connected only with Kavala and Keremoti via ferry. Departing from Keramoti, you’ll pay 30 EUR for your car and the driver + 5 EUR for every additional person and the trip is 40 min. long. It's much shorter and less expensive than if you depart from Kavala. There is a circular coastal road on the island that is ±100 km long through which the beaches and the villages are very well connected and easily accessible.
It has a little bit of a wild side but, there is also a very well-organized and urban side to it. It’s embraced for its nature and has around 50 beaches. It’s pretty crowded throughout most of the summer, so you’ll have to arrive early (before 9:30 a.m.) at most of the beaches to find a good spot. The food is great as it is everywhere in Greece and you can eat at most beaches. It’s famous for olive oil production.
The coastal villages carry the name “Scala” and serve as the port/harbor to the mountain villages. However, this is not always the case. Here are the 22 villages of Thassos:
Agios Georgios
Astris
Kallirachi & Scala Kallirachi

You’re welcome! Glad we can help! 🖐️
That's a really honest and detailed review of Thassos with most of its delights, good job!👍 We were there in 2015 and at the moment are thinking of visiting it again to see some of the places that we missed the previous time.
Since you've been there you know a bit about the island. The people there say it has been charged a lot and is changing even as we speak. There is a lot of development going on so If you decide to visit again you'll find it even more beautiful than in 2015. If you are looking for additional advice we will do anything to help.

Greetings from the Balkans… Have a nice day, too!💕
Nice Iceland but to much Tourist from Balkan in Summer. They are very loud and disruptive and behave badly
Not everywhere… there are some beaches that are more quiet. For example, the last two beaches in the video: Salonikios and La Scala. The first is wild and the second is expensive… and not all turists from the Balkans are loud, disruptive and behave bedly. We met some very nice people from Romania, Serbia and Macedonia there.
@@honestholidayreview Thassos is already located in Macedonia...
