Tip: when you need a mechanic, transport your bike 2500kms and drop it off…6 months later you can still have your bike in storage when the mechanic states he hasn’t got time to service it. Grrrr
I’m halfway through the video and learned a few thing’s already and I’ve been riding a long, long time. You’re a great man for sharing your knowledge, thank you.
Hi Eric, my channel just ticked over 1k subs & I wanted to publicly thank you for support & help. It's been a long hard road, thanks again for not only me but for all the other channels you help shine a spotlight on.
Good advice Eric, when i park my bike for the winter after draining the fuel out of the system and removing the battery i pull the spark plugs squirt some oil down the bores turn the engine over do it again and replace the plugs, this stops the rings going rusty in the bores and last until you want to reanimate your motorcycle.
Some great tips there. Another one for topping up fuel and cleaning the chain after a ride. Write down anything that needs repairs or replacing. Lost count how many times I have gone for a ride only to realise the issue I had with the bike on the last ride is still there as I had not fixed it.
I like the gas tip. I’ve had the people behind the counter look at me crazy when I tell them 4 or 5 bucks on pump x. They don’t realize just topping it off
Beginner or seasoned rider, these are all solid tips benneficial to everyone . Even if we may have known some of them before ,to be reminded is worth way more than beans or peanuts . I'm going to go and pull the brake calipers for a quick scrub right now .Thank you good sir .
These were great Eric. Some I already heartily live by, like leaving space and an escape path when pulling up at traffic lights and keeping it in gear and watching for cars behind - blows me away when I see riders parked right up to a car's bumper bar at traffic lights.. and some I didn't know and you've educated me on, like not running the bike for just 5 minutes while storing it for a while, I had no idea about that. Awesome mate, a bunch of super-useful tips, thank you!
I heard this somewhere, maybe from you. I certainly didn’t think of it myself. Take your gloves off before you uncap your fuel tank. Road dust, insect parts, you name it, can adhere to the fingers of your glove and scratch your paint work as you twist off the cap. Your bare hand won’t. Great tips, Eric!
They take about 5 minutes to transition. Shaded tree cover, tunnels, etc. It takes way too long for me. And they're bloody expensive. Thanks for the support, Paul.
I have offset diamond shaped mirrors. I broke the left, went to our local residential glass shop with a c.a.d, and got them to cut me a piece of bathroom mirror. lol. I think they charged me 4 dollars.
All great tips eric. someone i feel you were talking to me on a few of those. Like reusing the crush washer.. LOL. When i changed the oil for the first time on my drz, i didn't realize those were crush washer but good idea on a getting a bag of them instead of one at a time.
#1: Next year? How about tomorrow. #7 Do they make tent sized trash bags? I’m a big guy. #9 I’m a big advocate of rebuilding a brake caliper at 0:02 every change of pads. #12 @9:30 - thank goodness you’re not my accountant 😊 #14 A full tank of fuel helps prevent condensation in the tank. All good information as usual.
That's a great rule of thumb, rebuilding the calipers every second pad change! It is scary how many folks ignore the basics. Thanks for sharing your expertise, Richard!
All great points for the beginner, straight from decades of experience. I'm sure a lot of new riders will benefit from these, if they listen. I certainly picked up a good point on the chain maintenance (I've had shaft drive bikes for decades, until now) Oh! That reminds me, what an awesome coffee cup you have. I'm sure it's guaranteed to hold one full cup of coffee😁. I gotta get me one of those 😅. Ride well. Cheers.
Been riding for over 40yrs and for a change, someone who gives good tips, all 15 of them ! Thanks, got points to remember.
@peterkoning21 Thank you. I've been riding for 45 years myself. It's shocking to see some the advice YTers give. I greatly appreciate your comment.

Solid advice. I make shoot a video about that process. Heck, getting folk to just do what I stated in this about winter storage would be epic. 😂
Great tips. Thanks for sharing Eric. ✌️👊👍
Thank you for the support, Rick.
Our cousin rides and drives his truck with one eye and gives all the room to other bikers need he sees on the road in front of him. We live in Canada.
I wish all drivers would learn for your good cousin. Please tell him, thank you.

That's a great idea, Matt. I keep a dry erase board on the garage of my "to-do" list. That list never goes away... 😂

@TRyanLearnBikes well, thank you. Just another video at throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. :)
All great tips. I like the idea of the glimpse app. I always top my bike off before I get home…well, I used to lol.
Tip 3 is a life saver for sure. That’s something always practice to this day.
I hope my thoughts help a few new riders out there. 🤞🤙
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures that one will for sure if they aren’t already.
I leave the battery in the bike but I keep a tender on it and I tend to ride in the winter as well so there is that. Good tips my dude!

I also top off the fuel before heading to the house.
To me, it makes the next ride so more enjoyable.
really good tips here. I always carry my clear visor with me all the time.
