To everybody saying it's a pike it's not, it's a pickerel which is in the same Esox family as a pike. You can only catch them in North America, an easy way to tell it's a Pickerel is from the black tear drop marking under both eyes. They are also a bit yellower in colour. Hope I helped.

Also, northern pike look COMPLETELY different than chain pickerels, get 2 pictures of them and look at them side by side, and you will see, pickerels have chains, pike have spots.

I kept thinking those were Northern Pike. lol you kept saying the score was different than the screen said but looks like you guys had some fun. If you haven't gone up to Northern Minnesota in the Boundry Waters you should plan a trip. I used to go up once a year but haven't in a few years. Keep the videos flowin my dude

Ap, they are called Pickerel lol. "Pick-A-Ril" To be specific, they are Chain Pickerel. They are fun to catch, BUT... they can be a hassle. They'll bite pretty much any bass bait you can throw, from top water, to a jig, to a spinner bait. And, they can cause break offs with their teeth if you're not using abrasive-resistant line or braid. We have them all over the place where I live, and it sometimes gets annoying because you can catch upwards of 4 or 5 of them for every 1 bass. Grab them behind the eyes, or underneath the gill plate and use pliers to get the hooks out lol. They can do a lot of damage to a thumb or a finger, I speak from experience. Don't use boga-grips on them though...especially heavier ones. They can do damage to their jaw. I live in NY. About 15 minutes from Oneida Lake. Where the OPEN will be next week. Great fishing up here. Lots of different species. Pickerel is an abundant one. They are basically the smaller siblings to Pike and Muskies. In Oneida Lake, the Walleye are getting more active right now too.

Pickerel. Actually chained pickerel because there's northern pike in them that's why they chase and swipe and come back so hard. Same with tiger musky. They're (chained and tigers) not lazy fish like muskellunge.

northern pike have black spots on their fins and are way more aggressive than pickerel. redfin pickerel and grass pickerel don't have any spots on their fin. also redfin have a black line that goes across their eye, grass pickerel don't.

So many people arguing about these being pike or chain pickeral. I regularly catch northern pike in Iowa the same size as these fish cause we've got a lot of smaller pike here. They literally look exactly the same. I can tell pike from musky but pike and pickeral don't get me started they're the same damn fish
