Wow the SS Minnow is Absolutely Beautiful what great piece of history. And Dawn as Mary Anne is Absolutely beautiful too. Lovely video thanks for the memories.
First day of shooting in Hawaii was November 23, 1963, the day after JFK was assassinated. They all said “people are going to need a show like this now more than ever.”
Missing from the video was the fact that the SS Minnow was a 37-foot 1960 Wheeler Express Cruiser. I would pay to get a tour of that boat to benefit charity. It's beautiful.
Me and my buds visited the S.S.Minnow by accident while exploring Horne Lake Caves on Vancouver island. We were just walking the marina docks and I noticed the Minnow. We spoke with the staff at the office and they told us that the gaping hole in the bow on the opening credits of the TV show "Gillian's Island" was painted on! And yes, the lake is named after an ancestor who worked for Hudson's Bay Company, Adam Horne.
That is just AWESOME !!! … who didn’t / doesn’t love that show ?!?! … I’d LOVE a ride on that !!! Lol … and Mary-Anne saw it !!!! Awesome !!! .. my vote in the never ending argument was and still is Mary-Anne over Ginger .. give me down too earth gals over makeup and falseness … RIP Dawn. 💯❤️🙏💐
Hemingway's boat "Pilar" was the same vessel. Mid 1930s Wheeler Playmate. However, his was modified for fishing purposes. Rumored to be the first sportfish yacht. Restored one around 20 years ago.
What other famous boats are hiding in BC? 1st it was the Beach Combers little craft and now the ss minnow.. pretty cool. Tell us what else is hiding out in BC
Im not a boat expert but I see some major differences. In the show, we see only the front of the minow in a storm and the side of it as it's laying wrecked on the beach. The front clearly has 3 windshields while the one in the video has 2 and the sides have slotted port wndows while the one in the video has round ones. Additionally, there are several body lines that don't match at all. Again, I'm no expert and haven't seen every episode of the show. Was there more than one boat used in the show? Either way, that's an absolutely beautiful boat.
"Every piece of wood, but for a couple, are new to this boat"- Then it is NOT the same boat. It is a case of George Washington's axe, or the Ship of Theseus.
Hate to say, most people don’t know about it. Plus I’d rather be on a Strker 62, or 70. Or Carver anyway for parties. Charities seem to bring out old money so go w it until it over…
I have always wondered why the millionaire and his wife would take a three hour tour on a little piece of crap boat like that and not a big fancy yacht and also why would the movie star do the same?😂😂
I don't remember seeing an interior shot, I didn't realize the ship was so beautiful! That would be a pleasure to spend a week on island hopping!
Inwas born in 1962. This boat and the series is a part of my life as vivid today as it was back then. Utterly fabulous
I'm sure there are millions of us in our 60s that know every word to their theme song, both versions!
What a beautiful boat, and restoration.
It’s wonderful to see something cherished and cared for rather than disposed of for something newer and flashier.
Loved that story!
Mary Anne was the babe of the show. She always seemed likeable in interviews.
At least Mary Anne made it by to say farewell to an ill fated boat.Ty for caring and keeping her in ship shape. That is a peice of Hollywood history.
i before e except after c
@@writerconsidered I ,lol and we usually end a sentence with a .
@ True. I happened to run of my period quotas that day.

Dawn Wells... Gorgeous when she was younger, pretty to the day she died. And the Minnow is absolutely beautiful, well done on the restoration.
This is so iconic and I don't mean to brag but, I used to watch the show.
Very cool! Loved watching Gilligan's Island. Those were good times back then.😊
That interior is gorgeous!
RIP Dawn Wells 😢
NOW that was fun, and what a blast to see Ms. Dawn Wells, I crushed on her as a youth, I was like 10millionth in line, green shirt.
Pretty sure it was NEVER as exotic as this beauty!!!!
First day of shooting in Hawaii was November 23, 1963, the day after JFK was assassinated. They all said “people are going to need a show like this now more than ever.”
The Minnow has outlived every cast member so far.... Except Ginger.
No comparison.
Now that's a cool story. 😊
Its beautiful!
Please keep us updated on the "Beachcombers" jet boat once its finished being restored.
This inside look really teaked my interest.
The boat has a fly bridge at the beginning no fly bridge in the middle and a fly bridge at the end of the opening credits.
Nice!
Beautiful.
I like the classic lines of boats like this. They look SO much better than the fiberglass crap today.
Amazing!
Till this day I could not believe a millionaire couple booked a cruise on the ss. Minnow. Or a Beautiful movie star.
Missing from the video was the fact that the SS Minnow was a 37-foot 1960 Wheeler Express Cruiser.

I recall reading an article about the Minnow in the Wooden Boat magazine many years ago. Gorgeous boat!
…. I didn’t know it featured in a boat magazine - wooden you know it?

Beautiful restoration work.
Probably watched every episode.
Nice boat.
Lovely that it's been saved.
Beautiful piece of Americana

Tina Louise, who played “the movie” star, Ginger Grant, is the only cast member of Gilligan's Island who's still with us.
Bless Tina. She is the longest-living castmember surpassing the late Natalie Schafer (Mrs. Howell) who died in 1991, aged 90 and 5 months.
Gilligan's Island's 💯😊👍

Wow, it seems like yesterday!✌️
Commander Crumbcake brought me here.🖤
Awesome 🤩 & So Beautifully Done! Keep up the good work! I grew up with it! 😅🙏🍀Salute🫡 , USCG, Retired!
So cool still watch the show
Me too and I'm 65 lol hate most of the shows on tv
I wonder what make the boat is?
S.S.Minnow specs:
1964 Wheeler Playmate, 38 foot Express Bridge.
Engine: Detroit dual 165 horsepower inboard
Woodwork: wooden hull, mahogany
Navigation: RayMarine
Capacity: 2 crew, 6 passengers
Original registered name: The Bluejacket
I thought this boat was used in the title which was filmed in 1963.

As the boomers die off, so will the nostalgia for this old boat.
Look at you, removing all doubts
(eyes rollin)
Don’t worry, GenX will be around for many decades…making millennials and GenZ look weak and ridiculous.
No way. Gen X watched all the reruns.
@@bravo2zeroCANI’m GenX and I collect nothing 😂
@@CC-wm1yq yep! I watched a lot of this growing up.
We love to bring new life into old and historic vessels in palm beach florida. Recently was involved in the restoration of the Honey Fitz
a very very beautiful girl and a wonderful boat
Ya right😵💫
The radio better be made of coconuts
Oh you made me laugh lol, thanks! Great show wasn't it.
So what company made that boat?
wheeler yacht company
I would pay to take a Tour of the boat especially if you could guarantee me getting shipwrecked on a deserted island with Mary Ann and Ginger
Absolutely ✌️
Should be displayed on Ventura Blvd. infront of the CBS Radford lot
How much for a 3 hour tour?
3 coconuts, 3 pineapples, 3 papayas and a banana cream pie.
🤔 if every part has been replaced, is it actually the same boat?
The question still remains though.. why did the Howell's take all that luggage with them on a 3 Hour cruise? 🤨🧐
Robert Wagners yacht is still out there also, but has a dark, sinister past.
What's the only wood that doesn't float?
The professor should have repaired the boat and took off with Mary Anne and Ginger 😅
The boat would do about 20-25mph max. A 3 hr tour would be no more than 75 miles away from the coast.
Ginger or Mary Ann.
Mary Anne all day everyday twice on Sundays
Mary Ann!
Yes.
Yout can see the space capsule that Major Anthony Nelson landed on the beach where he found Jeannie at the Smithsonian.
Only 1 cast member still alive from Gilligan's Island Tina Louise (Ginger Grant) aged 90
Bless Tina. She is the longest-living castmember surpassing the late Natalie Schafer (Mrs. Howell) who died in 1991 aged 90 and 5 months.

Mary Annes cream still n the seat ?
I spent many tender and romantic evenings with Mary Anne. She just didn't know it.

Hollywood brainless.
Dipzh1t, it was a tv comedy, COMEDY, try it some time!
