I don´t care what critics were saying about that movie! It was a movie of my teenage years and I loved it! I still like it very much!!! Also Robin Hood with Kevin! It was a great movie!!!
Terribly under rated movie and they used real sets and all the water and rust and crappy hair is what makes it so real and gritty. You can watch this film many times just as Mad Max 2, never gets old and Water world is unique among warrior on the water movies.
It came out of production with all kinds of bad press. Over budget, took longer to shoot, think they changed director etc etc. So much bad press that people didn't go see it because they thought it would suck. Which it didn't, it's very underrated film imho.
The bad press was related oil industry public relations and advertising dollars... Corruption corruption corruption and corruption influence with corruption culture running things.
The way this movie was bashed was idiotic. People used the mediocre/boring plot as an outline because back then it was the most expensive movie ever made but other aspects were fantastic. Dennis Hopper was fantastic, the setting was fantastic, the action was fantastic, the soundtrack was fantastic and it had more elements that sci-fi fans adored and still do. If you can understand that the world is the main character then you're in for a hell of a ride with Waterworld .
This was an excellent movie even though it didn't do well at the box office ! Why ? ? ? I'd prefer several more similar movies in a series as it was just as good as the Indiana Jones sequels !
Well apparently you liked it a lot more than everyone else. Not many people cared to watch this movie. Those who did, certainly didn’t want to watch it a second time. It was just a very mediocre film
John Carter, Jupiter Ascending, Outlander and Water World all showing patterns of patterns... Being beloved by those who actually watch them and think independently with critical thinking capabilities... And then there are the trolls and bots much like the corporate corruption culture deflection and misdirection... LOL Anything to do with pointing out that the pollution is destroying the planet is suppressed. Anything pointing out narcissistic sociopaths destroying the planet runs into the same distractions and distracted public misdirection and cognitive dissonance. lol
I remember seeing this and then going to the live action set at universal studios, that was some intense stuff made me want to be in that world for a few years
Very elitist critics and i think in modern times this movie may feel too 90s for a zoomer. the style just screams 90s while some other movies feel more timeless.
Back in days that trimaran transformer really pumped my heart a lot. That idea was a dream boat. Grew up a bit and actually sailed few miles ;-) and monohuls seems to me a bit better for offshore. Not that techie, not that badass, but has some advantages.
Starwars started in the 1970s so it was super impressive and lets be honest its not as perfect as the original star wars i can really only give this movie 8/10 while star wars is a perfect 10 but most critics give this movie a 0 and say its junk while its pretty good.
its not cgi water by the way. it was actually filmed off the coast of hawaii. i was in film school and we had an alumni guy who worked on the set of water world and was telling us about it. one of the reasons it was so costly to make was due to it being filmed in open water. fun fact they had to build that atol twice. the first one broke due to rough weather when they shipped it so they had to build the secound one in hawaii and had to import all the material. also they didnt take into account the impact the sea water would have on their props
This is not cgi its the peak of practical effects i think after this movie being so expensive a lot of companies just started moving on the cheap cgi because it was starting to become cheaper than making a bunch of fancy props.
Its the same with the movie Willow, It's just one of those films that bombs at its premiere but a classic on what was then VHS tapes. This and Willow are childhood classics for me.
Two things: 1. Calculate the amount of water needed to make earth a water world and it comes to be about the current volume of the world. 2. I would hate to see how long and the work needed to reset the go fast mode on the trimaran.
This whole scene never made sense to me. The Smokers could have just shot his sail. If he did not get this container of dirt, he could have easily made the new stuff later.
Actually I’m glad you asked that question I didn’t build it but the mayors son of where I live built one for the lake it took him exactly 3 years because we have a pretty long winter I remember asking how much did it cost and the guy said he spent about $750,000 in materials and for the record they actually did clock how fast that thing can go 35 mph by wind that’s flying fast
I don't care what anyone says, I like this movie. I watch it whenever it's on
I watched it often when I was little.
I actually watched the Universal show before this 😅
Yea it was decent i loved it growing up movie critics are strange.
Love watching it and the postman. Costner is a great actor
Mad max of the sea
Like nobody ever, ever realized THAT.
Mad max meets pirates of the Caribbean
I don´t care what critics were saying about that movie! It was a movie of my teenage years and I loved it! I still like it very much!!! Also Robin Hood with Kevin! It was a great movie!!!
I also had it on VHS and enjoyed it as well.
well, one can do smth meaningful with their lives, or one can become a critic.
Yea movie critics don't make much sense compared to what the average viewer wants they wants more artistic movies.
They need to make a prequel series on how things came to be. It would be interesting
It's already been made. 2012. :P
They could just as easily make a sequel or just parallel stories set in this world. Would be really fun to see it revisited, had a lot of potential.
Considering how everyone is worried about climate change, it would be a hit. 😂
FJB got placed into the white house. Theirs your prequel
we are living the prequel now
It was a brilliant movie, great action, great cast and Dennis Hopper is fantastic
the 5 gallon bucket is glued to the net are you serious? this movie is garbo
It is a movie now, but it will be reality somme day.
God rest his soul 😔
Terribly under rated movie and they used real sets and all the water and rust and crappy hair is what makes it so real and gritty. You can watch this film many times just as Mad Max 2, never gets old and Water world is unique among warrior on the water movies.
This film deserves more respect. A fun tale.
its a silly movie that is very well made.
It was not perfect but much better than what the critics said.
Besides being a really well edited and good looking sequence, the shift in the score is marvelous.
"Waterworld" the Turkey that is slowly being recognised as a decent film. (Mind you, it has made $265 Million as well...)
It was a good movie.I dunno why it didnt make much money.I wanna sequel.

Corruption corruption corruption and corruption influence with corruption culture running things.
Their budget was too high they needed a lot of sales.
That has to be the best pirate I've ever seen.
So it would seem.
He was a Mariner, not a Pirate.
This movie is in my top ten list. I really, really enjoyed this movie.

Saw it in the theater on a whim and absolutely loved it! I even saw it a second time.

It was terrible!
I enjoyed it
The problem was that the movies budget was so high they could not make a profit even with a lot of people watching.
Hey Kevin, if you see this, I really liked this and The Postman.
He was great in Open Range too.
These were his best two films (not including DWW)
Postman was good but the book was even better. Of you haven't read it, you should.
@@bbeen40 I was actually about 1/2 way through the audiobook when I got pulled off in other directions.
Awesome movie.

“You in The Wet Zone!”
I love this sailboat
great movie I can't get why so underrated
I actually really like this movie!
Because it sucked. A Mad Max 2 ripoff.

In love with this movie since day 1!!❤as allways... KCostner GREAT ACTING!!...d movie itself...AMAZING SCENERY & POWERFUL ACTION!!💥💯👌👍👍
I actually enjoyed watching this movie. Didn't get to see it in the theaters but got the video version at home.
I would have loved to see that one on the big screen. It has the right scale for it.
Yea same here i was too young i watched it when it was on tv it was on tv often in the late 90s and 2000s.
What a cool trimaran. The ultimate inspiration for sailboat enthusiasts.
I think it is a retired racing boat.
I didn't realize how expensive they were until I looked it up..
although it got panned by the critics I thought it was a highly entertaining film
I never understood all the hate this movie got. It was what it was, it wasn't trying to be earthshattering.
Great movie. Love it!!
awesome movie!

Ok dude I liked the movie too but c'mon.. as big as Star Wars?? lol
No laser swords.

I don't know why people didn't like this at the time.
It boasted about its budget during marketing but turned out less impressive than Die Hard 3.
You know, if you get rid of the music the scenes look pretty legendary.
Revenge is a dish best served wet.
You steal the limes, he takes your sails!
The music is glorious
Yes...the shift it makes when it goes to the end sailing, and then sunset...and lots more great music in this remarkable film. The swimming lesson....
I don't know why this movie was ridiculed so much; I love it....
same here. It's based on a true story.
i realize Im quite randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to watch new movies online?
@Beckham Emerson Flixportal :)
@Mario Princeton Thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it!!
@Beckham Emerson happy to help :D
Dude, yeah this movie and The Postman. 🐊
That's why you never touch another man's lemons...
The missing mini submarine got me here
The movie might have been a joke, but the boat was awesome!!!!
An interesting movie.
this was my favorite movie as a kid, crazy to think this is the first movie in history with CGI water, looked so real when I was young
its not cgi water by the way. it was actually filmed off the coast of hawaii. i was in film school and we had an alumni guy who worked on the set of water world and was telling us about it. one of the reasons it was so costly to make was due to it being filmed in open water. fun fact they had to build that atol twice. the first one broke due to rough weather when they shipped it so they had to build the secound one in hawaii and had to import all the material. also they didnt take into account the impact the sea water would have on their props

his boat is a hot piece of property
Was.
I have no idea what's going on but seems like it went pretty cool!
Nice
Really cool boat.
Favorite scene: Dropping the flare into the Exxon Valdez.
"Oh thank God!"
This boat reminds me of the James Bond cars
From the US Coast guard: please boat responsibly
The best movie ever
That's probably how the world is going to look like water world not to far into the future
Yeah...probably not.
I have theirs on VHS. I watch it at least twice a year. When I’ve got four or five hours to waste at a time
Dead calm ,no wind, trimaran doing 15 kts.
In opposite directions to since he turns 180° to chase down the other boat.
I like Waterworld AND The Postman. There I said it...
The Extended (or full) editions of both were masterpieces.
@@diogenesesenna9323 agreed

I agree, this is a very underrated movie that's somehow it's popular to shit on.

don't bring jetskis in a sea fight!
Noah's Ark: not enough water in the world to cover the land.
Global warming: we are going to flood the world!
Gota love a trimaran
I don’t know why this film got
Slammed so hard. I thought it was great. And Hoppers character was a one in a million.
Better than 90% of the CGI garbage that gets poured into the theaters these days.
I really enjoyed it too, but you have to admit there were giant holes in the plot and the story.

Did you notice that in the scene after the one where Kostner brings the bag aboard, it's still in the water?
This was not just a bad movie -- it was so awful it was magnificent. I saw it in the theatre three times.
Can anyone nowadays replicate his (Kevin Costner) boat..
why nonstop ads u can't skip now, youtubes trying to force ppl into buying premium!!
But nice movie
the music kills this scene. dead.
how to turn a monohull into a trimeran in 5 CGI seconds flat
