Thank you Joma. I watched this 3 years ago when I was freshman in university and really opened my eye. I was able to follow down the rabbit hole and ended up with internships in FAANG. Really appreciate and grateful for your content!
Hey Joma your videos are really cool. If you could document all these info like the best places to work for and other things it would be good so that people could track all the things and it may go viral as well!
Two Sigma has 3 technical and 3 behavioural interviews lasting an hour each. They also have an online assessment when you apply that’s about 70 minutes long. The technical coding questions they ask you vary between LeetCode medium and hard, which is surprising because companies typically don’t ask LeetCode hard questions, especially for an interview under an hour. Furthermore, the technical coding interviews happen back to back. So you’d be sitting for 3-4 hours solving 3 LeetCode medium/hard questions with 3 different Software Engineers, under an hour each. The 3 behavioural one hour interviews also happen in one day back to back (and you only take them IF you pass the technical interviews first). Needless to say, it is super hard. So be sure to be prepared! I would also like to point out one special thing about Two Sigma, they genuinely look for skill and talent. You don’t need to have a high college GPA or super impressive resume to get the interview as long as you have demonstrated genuine skill, talent, and success in other areas.

It’s to offset the cost of living in these ridiculously high tech areas. Take a look at look at his last video showing his place of living. Not exactly what you would expect someone who is making 6figures at least to be living in anywhere outside of these high cost cities.
Senior Software Engineer (without Management) will usually earn between 50-80k EUR, of course there are some outliers but that would be the range imo. In Berlin for example cost of living is still quite low, i read analysis saying that 60k in Berlin gives you the same standard of living than 120-150k in San Francisco or New York.
Impressive that your brother works for 2 Sigma. Would be highly interested if you could make a video with your brother describing what he does at work.
Thank you for your content, Hey Joma, I have a question. Is it possible to get internship opportunities from tech companies even tho I have graduated and working as a full-time developer? If so, would you recommend how? Thanks)
As a foreign student, seeing people getting 6-9k per month for an internship is shocking, we don't even get paid in my country, and the salary of an engineer is like 1000$
I'm a student from Germany and wish to do an intern in the US. It's surprising to me how high the salary for an intern there. In Germany, we usually get 1.5k - 2k Euro a month during an internship. The net income will be around 1.2k - 1.6k. So, how much do we get after tax with a wage of $6k - $9k in the US?
I don't understand some parts because I'm learning English, I need some subtitles in Spanish to understand everything, this information seems really useful
Clearing up an issue regarding Microsoft's internship interview process. The difficulty is not "easy" per se. The process that Joma experienced is not the typical internship process that most students go through (his was very short). The usual process is an on-campus or phone interview followed by 4 or so interviews on site. At both stages they can ask simple questions, but things like finding a cycle in a linked list is on the easier end of things rather than being the standard difficulty.
hey joma, can You make some videos explaining some techniques o method that You most use at your work as data scientist and some examples, sorry for my English i am learning
I just had my phone interview with Palantir for Soft Eng Internship... Fingers crossed. If anyone's curious, they asked me about binary string verification for 1, 2 and 3 byte UTF-8 samples. Then they asked me about how I'd change my solution for n-bytes (which was pretty straight forward too).
Well he makes 9k but If you've seen his house tour video , he 's paying 4.6k for just an appartement a month , you should never compare numbers , it's all about the cost of living in different areas
Hey Joma Thanks for your videos, I really love ur channel infact I’m a cs major , I really like to contribute to open source but I don’t know how to get started can u make video about that plz.... I’m started to like my major because of u lol
What made you decide data science over software engineering? Usually DS salaries are lower than SWE salaries, so what factors led you to put salary lower on your priorities?
Hey Joma, love the video! Just asking, (if you stay in San Francisco or the bay area) as a Software developer (I'm a 2nd year college undergrad) can you live in the bay area with those kind of salary or is it too expensive?
Omg your video is so educational. I didn't know that intern pay that much money. I don't understand how intern got paid 3k for housing or relocation. That's crazy. I'm living in a Bay Area right now and making about 2k a month. I am CS major. Can you make videos about how to get internships from school or other sources and tips and tricks questions about interview?
When I see a half an hour video on youtube, no matter the channel, I would skip it entirely or at least fast forward 1.5 times the original speed. But this video, I watched it fully. And I'm now depressed more than ever at the state of the average internship payscale in my country.. ranging only from 500 USD to 1,500 USD a month...
You need to compare after considering purchasing power parity. If you're being paid only $1000 per month on an average then it's probably worth exactly $7000 is worth in SV.
And this is just for the internship. I'm a EE engineer in like a mid tier country with shit economy and my job salary is like 1000 dollars a month lmao. Don't live in a third world country kids.
Hey Joma. Thanks for the video. I've been trying to change my career path and learn data science on my own. I do not have a CS degree but have a math/stats degree. you probably also don't pay 2-3k per month for a 1 bedroom apartment in SF.

many of us pay much less than that and live in the bay area within our means. These rich tech Asian tech bros already come from money tho...
