    The black deposit is limescale, and you should use distilled water to eliminate this problem. The same goes for steam irons and the like. Good video, just goes to show our throw away society.

      Thanks FM! Yeah, it's criminal what people throw away. I think I might get some distilled water, and hopefully I can keep this one going with some regular maintenance 👍

      Been watching all of your videos and I really enjoy them. I have come across this one and I don't think the black deposit is limescale. I'm a plumber and when I see those black deposits on water, I almost always assume it's broken down o rings or rubber seats. It makes a lot of sense that if this product was in storage for a while, that the rubber dried out and broke down into the water. Just my 2 cents 2 years later

      Additionally, lime scale is usually whiter than black. Source: plumber who lives in a dense limestone area

      @chase kirk limescale is white when pure, but can be many colours when contaminated. In this video, the limescale is black.

    Very innovative use of a corn holder there.

    Mine had no black mould but only scale chalky deposit. Scraped some with a knife and fine needle and thread through the spout. Vinegar worked well to remove some deposit and cleaned with cotton wool buds. Fixed the problem and i will try and use deionised water to minimise build up again. great detailed video. Thank you.

      Thanks Tsjussable! Great idea with the vinegar, I've used white vinegar a few times since and it is great for getting rid of old deposits! Appreciate the kind words. Thank you! 👍

    Thx for video.Mine is new, only used it three times. Was a free one with carpet cleaner from Vax. They are sending a new one this week. Gonna strip this one down to try your fix. Bet any money it was a returned one as the carpet glide was broken in the box when I opened it.

      UPDATE, wooohooo opened it up and when looking at the heating chamber I noticed that the heating element was loose where it bolts/screws to the chamber. Tightened, reassembled, filled and plugged in, mega steam. Replacement from Vax came yesterday now I got two.
      Thank you for the video, it gave me the confidence to open up mine.

    I have one of these. The 1st one was replaced by Vax under warranty 6 months ago while it was only 6 months old.
    5 months on with the replacement & the same thing has happened. Vax are sending me yet another replacement. Vax have told me to dispose of the one that isn't working.
    However, having just seen your video, I followed everything you did in the video.
    Hey presto! It's now working as it should 😂😂😂😂
    I now have 2 steam mops 😜
    Should this saga repeat its self (it will for sure!) I will know exactly how to fix it thanks to you.
    Seems it is an inherent problem with this model as you can not clear the steam delivery tube effectively unless you disassemble it - its built to fail, and I think Vax know this!
    Thanks for the vid 😊😊
    As I live in a very hard water area, I am now using filtered rain water in the machine as its naturally 'soft' and free rather than spend money on distilled water you have to pay for.

    I would say that the cast aliminium part is actually the heating unit and it's probably mouldy lime scale

    • @wwbigon311
      @wwbigon311 2 роки тому +1

      that was the problem with mine full of lime scale and only used four times. its now working again. must get some distilled water is it o.k. to use descaler I wonder. Thanks again to StezStix Fix

    like a few comments said very likely its limescale so one part vinegar and 2 parts distilled water is probably the easier way to get it out of there but it might be too stubborn and have to go this route.

    Found to countersink hole in heater steam exit nozzle makes it easier to clean jet without having to strip down again.The Original problem being unable to gain entrance to this nozzle from pushing wire through the outside nozzle .But as I stated earlier by countersinking the inner nozzle guides the cleaning wire probe…..

    • @StezStixFix
      @StezStixFix  4 роки тому

      Yeah, I thought of doing that and have actually ordered some white vinegar to give it a try. It was pretty gunked up, so it should work better now I've cleaned it out, and I can flush some white vinegar through it to keep it going! 👍

    Only had my steamer 2 months then steam stopped, Ughhh!! I'm rubbish at dissecting gadgets and tend to leave it to hubby/son. I'll show them your video to crack on, whilst I buy the white vinegar and find some deironised water. Will update a comment once they've given it a try. Great video btw!

    Essentially a boiler with a handle.. in the same way a coffee machine is a boiler with controls and a handle for coffee.
    Thanks for the upload Steve; was a coffee machine tech for 10 years so feel your pain when you took apart that lovely Krups machine (shudder).. all kinda the same after a while tho - you get used to the circuit etc and then it’s just changes on that..
    A shame in the case of the Krups as they used to be a really good reputable brand before they got bought out and dissolved..
    Keep up the great content my friend 👍🏅
    Ps - a good set of welding tip cleaners are your friend when you get such a case of blocked up spouts / nozzles etc

    The black stuff look a lot like aluminium oxyde... Don't use strong acides to descale (hydrocloric would tipicaly do that to aluminium for example). Vinegar is enought and remember that you have to rince it after just in case.

      I think it is some kind of contamination from magnesium in stagnant water, or perhaps even a melted rubber seal. Who knows! I just hope it doesn't clog up again. Working fine still 👌
