As a child I remember this song performed by many artists. At the time that this song was popular in the mid/late 1960's, America was going through the Vietnam war years. This beautiful song although not written with the war in mind but rather from a Broadway play, was generally associated with the struggle of that time period.
I've always found the words and lyrics to this song incredibly moving. I've heard it recorded by a number of artists. For me, there is something in her rendition, arrangement, and voice that captures a purity I had never heard. Putting it another way, she REACHED the impossible here and others will, at best and with challenge, only ever be able to match this. It has inspired me to go forward, to accept, and to feel unified all coming from different parts of myself. I'm thank God that I stumbled across this video.

Gracias, saludos.
Someone else hitting the end high note though.
Her speaking voice is so similar to Whitney’s. Or am I tripping?
nope lol I hear it too
You're on crack
Uh no
Whitney was from Newark NJ . Donna was from Dorchester Massachusetts.
She looks so like Gladys Knight in profile.
