The picolina, because its aircooled, uses oil as it's "coolant" so it can very easily overheat when it loses it's oil Same thing with the Miramar. Even though it is a water cooled engine, oil is very useful to keep bits of the engine cool that the coolant doesn't reach.
@@jwalster9412 well idk if this counts but if you watched Project Farm he ran a lawnmower engine without oil for nearly an hour before it failed catastrophically

Yeah, it's a shame really, BNG took it too far. There's no way he could go back to using regular cars again, which was always the fun aspect of the old DTD series. I did mention in the comments last time that there might be a way to reduce oilpan damage in the config settings, but I don't know if these comments are looked at or not.
@@MrPicklerwoof BNG didn't take it too far. realistically it isn't a game. there is an arcade damage mode tho I think. but the more realistic the better. it's a crash physics and driving physics game, not a derby track game

I think Shafted - and the other jumps - essentially make the crawler rule meaningless here. Either the car will have too little power to make it up the ramp, or it will take a devastating nose-first landing on the other side.
I caught this live when the back half of the Bolide was still going. Doesn't make sense. And yea, the new damage seems to be more punishing to those wanting to drive like the game originally intended. If the engine survives, you've got a strong car.
It kind of takes all the suspense out of the mode tbh. The engine is almost universally going to be why the car fails. Either because it dies on a bump, or because the papier mache oil pans bust and the engine then dies because of that lol
Surely some how some way theres a mod to prevent oilpan damage or at least make them nigh on unbreakable. That’s really the one thing holding back DtD now. Such a bummer when a car is just reaching the stage where it’s steering and suspension are about to give out and make for an inevitable wacky crash situation then it just slows to a stop cause of oil.
It's even better when it splits in the right way and the engine and radiator are unphased, so you can just re attach the rear frame with tge node grabberz and continue on like nothing happened.

I got to work on a Smart car today. Do they have anything like that on this game to destroy? If anything like real life it won't last long. Pretty much a pair of doors with wheels. I literally have had toys built better then that granted I give kudos to those dropping Hayabusa engines and drivelines in them for some sick drifting. That said, my least favorite car to work on is a modern Mini. Those need to be on destruction proving grounds as well.
I for one really enjoy these. Makes me want to go do it in real life but I haven't won the lottery yet.
The car won't be the only thing to die if you drive like this series. Plus, if somebody spots you, say hi to the cops.

The AW astro police car is a good choice for this course. Not only is it FWD which helps a lot with drove train related deaths, but it's light.
