I often get annoyed with unsolicited "suggested videos" that pop up. But every now and again I find one that is pure gold and this is certainly one of them. I echo many of the comments made already. What a beautiful person, a beautiful place and a beautiful story.
Ruby's running inspires so many, she's already helping people without even realising.. I have had severe mental health problems after the death of my partner, and had pretty much withdrawn from life. I stumbled across a short interview with Ruby - I don't know where it came from - and it really lit a spark inside me, the way she spoke about running and grief and meaning and life in general. I was extremely unfit but I did the couch to 5k programme, and just kept running! I sought out trails early on thanks to Ruby, and this weekend I ran across a mountain. It was the most exhilarating, amazing, cathartic thing I have ever done. My family can't believe the change in me. I'm embracing life again and the world literally looks more vibrant and beautiful to me. All thanks to a random clip of an interview with Ruby, and the subsequent videos and articles I found about her. She gave me my life back ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I really do appreciate it. It’s great to hear that Ruby’s story has helped and inspired you. Congratulations on the mountain run it sounds like you really got a lot out of it which is fantastic! All the best and thanks for watching.
I am inspired by this completely. I started running because a work colleague suffer a heart attack, it scared me more than him and I was only 4 years younger than him and I have a young child. I started walking 10k fast at 4am and soon I was running 500m and walking 500m and then on to 1k and so on. Now I can run 5-10k everyday and I smile all the way what ever the weather because nature has showed me success is in doing and failure is in not starting. I hope to run with my son when he grows up.
I love hearing these kind of stories! That is so cool that you are inspired by Ruby's story. Great to hear that you have found a connection with running! Thanks for watching!!
Ruby! It’s okay to be fast and strong! Don’t apologize for your gifts, talent, work ethic and beauty!! USE THEM ALL to affect the world for good! Blessings to you and stay pure of heart!
Wow, the speed on the descents.. plus minimalist shoes, also on rocks with minimalist shoes.. I wear minimalist shoes walking around to help strengthen my feet.. but think my feet would crumble.
A brave and talented runner and I'm pleased she found a partner that shares her passion, otherwise her inner turmoil could overcome her. I hope she is finding peace in her future.
I can relate a lot to this, I started running not long after my mother died, trauma can be a great motivator to push you to do things you didn't know you were even capable of. Great documentary, thanks
What a great short filmand Ruby is so honest and the values she holds I only realized them in my 40's. So kudos for your insight into life's true meaning and really do envy your beautiful upbringing so close to nature and so respectful of how everything we do as long as it can be honoring nature and it's living ecosystems it will be alright. Not doing so creates conflict and death around you like the big cities and to be able to recognize that at such young age is simply incredible. I hope more people watch this terrific film! As I write this only 499 thumbs up and 22,057 views but it should be in the millions! Thanks again.
What a beautiful video. Lovely girl who has found the freedom of running in the hills and bush of NZ. Inspired me at the age of 75 to buy a pair of barefoot running shoes, and run on the tracks of Ruapehu. Hope to meet Ruby one day.
Beautiful kind soul and a refreshingly honest story. We ran the same race a couple of years ago( Tarawera) which is still the most beautiful race I have ever seen. NZ is paradise - Ruby is blessed on so many levels ✌
I'm older now and always wanted this, well done and you are so brave in your story to us, and wish you both happiness for ever 💜 I lost my mother at a young age, about 33 years ago, and running still helps me as I'm still struggling with everything, thank you for making this video x
Ms. Muir, thank you for sharing your tender heart with us! Your running form and intuitive sense of the terrain is extremely impressive!! My daughter and I started trail running in FiveFingers a decade ago, and we still train and race in them. I hope you two continue to follow your hearts and your happiness, and that you can learn to love all of the successes that you are creating.
Cool video and very relatable. Im 20 or so years down the line and now unable to run due to an obsessive relationship with running/competing resulting in many injuries. If i could rewind the clock i'd never toe the line again and just hit the trail for enjoyment. Such a joy to watch how easily you move across the ground.
Thank you!! This is so good. Ruby you are inspiring! Aaron you totally nailed it. I lOVED and was totally blown away by the downhill pace you captured in some of those shots!
Sharing your story Ruby through this short film does serve others. It's inspiring watching run across terrain you run across with the connection to the environment you have is uplifting and beautiful.
Ok- thumbs up! You have done a great service to your fans out here in the You Tube community posting this and sharing your experience of the natural world which is so beautiful and which gives us everything, you’re definitely on the right side of the point that you have this question about, and can be proud of who you are- you need to know that your spirit is is in the place that it belongs in, loved watching and being inspired, thank you!🏃♀️🌿🧘🏼🙏

wow ..!! its always a delight to see a body running very well !!! strong and supple !!! congrats ..and please always do as your heart feels .. I stopped running for 25 years I regretted it a little .. but being masters 55 now I picked it up and know I was and I am a runner ..
A great documentary, what a beautiful place to live and run in, keep on keeping on, As others have said what a great free flowing running style you have. Nothing is forced it just comes naturally. Thanks for sharing :)
Indeed. I miss NZ everyday... this young lady is very self aware and honest... good on her producing such an open video. All runners have a something others dont...
Watching this because since 2017 a lot has happened to me. A really hard job loss, then losing my dad and then my mom. I've been a lifelong runner and I need to get back to the running lifestyle. I ran today in the rain and I loved it.
Don't know why I got this in my recommended but I'm glad I did. Very nice and she looks very young and really wise. I really liked the message at 7:48 too.
Greetings from Washington, D.C. I'm a new subscriber and advid distance runner (among other things). This was VERY moving😢💓😄 This young woman still seems to be dealing with considerable emotional pain (sorry, it's the clinician in me😳). I hope she keeps a health balance with running.
Watching this was such an inspiration I totally get been out in the wilderness pushing yourself to the limit it really opens up a good mind space and brings you right back down to earth 🙌🙌
You run beautifully not just 'in' but 'with' and knowing of the land and trusting yourself. When your heart is as broken as the land you traverse and to be able to be in your body, be the breath in your lungs and find deep connection with the world, the hills the forest and even the city through every sense from the soles of your feet to the smell of the land and the changing light it is a fantastic healing. To be deeply (maybe lost a while) inside that is part of the trail but the trail widens and the vista opens, not always easily. Your journey has surely been hard but is inspirational - a gift - thanks.
im gonna run a 50 km next year, i ran a marathon sunday in 3 hours 29 minutes, and ive always had a dream ever since i was young to become an ultramarathoner, working my way up!
That’s a great documentary, I won’t run an ultra but at least it will inspire me to run more, not sure about the minimalist shoes though, I am too far gone the other way 😂

Hey Flora! I was just thinking you'd probably like this! Really powerful story and person
She has the fastest and cleanest running mechanics I've ever seen. Impressive. Wish I could flow so nicely on the trails.
Thanks for watching!
I totally agree, that is what I was thinking too. It is like she has a super power.
totally agree, beautiful movements. Training w/ five fingers helps to do it...or you do it right or it hurts :D
What shoes are u running with..it almost looks like socks..or rock slippers or something
