Diaz first goal was very van dijk to Sadio vs Bayern in champions league for me, but with lucho and konate instead! Let’s hope both those lads go onto achieve similar things to their 2019 UCL counterparts!
It was far more drilled tho with Darwin and Salah timing short runs , hopefully we see more but a good shout for this goal YNWA
47:49 Konate is a man on a mission this season. There’s a photo of him after scoring against Milan last week and i know its just a photo but his facial expression at that exact second to me shows someone that has finally realised how much of a beast he actually is but also someone that has abandoned any self doubt in their abilities. A mean motherfkr
I really appreciated the Van Dijk praise. We’ve become so accustomed to his brilliance that we take it for granted.
We are talking about one of the all time great CB’s
Does make me smile the way we’ve all decided that Klopps football was utterly flawed based on the last 2 seasons, forgetting that we were unbeaten at home for nearly 4 years between April 17 and jan 21. 68 consecutive league games at home without defeat. I like the clean sheets we’re keeping don’t get me wrong
Ben Jonno appreciation thread 👇
He’s boss
Great to see him on - not on here enough
Ben wasn't alone in that "move Diaz on" rubbish but fair play to him putting his hand up. 😅
Virgil’s heading accuracy is criminally underrated. Glad you picked up on it. Start of so many attacks and cools so many iffy situations. Best CB we’ve had imo, ever.
The Chat.The Boy's.The show. up the red's
Loved the show especially Rob talking about Diaz excellent stuff!
Konate was a monster
Under klopp, klopp would say nunez isn't in team to score goals it's all the other things he does that was klopps reasoning for poor finishing running around was perfectly fine under klopp. , well reality check we have slot who said in a interview I listened to he really likes the hard work nunez does off the ball but ultimately as a striker it's goals that are important the opposite of klopp. The same as slot said about szboszlai as a number 10 the hard work and pressing is great but as a number 10 we need more assists and goals this must improve. I absolutely love slot and the fact he says it as it is. because your going to have to do your primary jobs well you have to produce numbers or you will be on the bench, nunez should start the next game but he will have to produce, goals, assists not chaos because his job is a striker and he done that today
The Virgil every headers a pass comment is so right.
I think the goal is to play through the middle with short and precise passes and also play direct and over the top when the midfield is shackled.
I am loving this new setup. If given time, it would be a blend of pep and klopp = Slot.
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the content
Good show. Needed this escape today.
I’m still not clear how we’ll break down a low block like Forest did
You’ll see us do it and then you’ll know. Breaking down low blocks comes with more training by the new coach and experience from the players to remain calm and calculating while they go about their job.
Yet City nearly didn’t break down a low block yesterday. Sometimes it takes a bit of luck, like they had with the rebound. The only thing you can plan for sure is not to give up and don’t let your heads go down. I feel that the players were too hesitant (tired?)against Forest.
Man city normally break down low blocks very well by moving the ball around fast, thus moving the defence around fast as well until they leave spaces and then exploit those spaces by shooting at goal when possible. For some reason i couldnt fathom yesterday in the second half man city played against the low block exactly how you shouldnt. Slow passing became the norm and that suited arsenal to the ground. Playing against 10 men made them very lax i think. They thought spaces in defence would just appear but even against ten men you have to make spaces appear. There are tried and tested ways to beat low block. I despair when most teams don't use them. Including us.
Macallister just exudes pure class in midfield and I actually prefer him deep. It would be amazing to keep this midfield together longer than Gerrard,Mascherano and Alonso lasted 🤞🏻. Made up for Nunez too. Still have hope he will be a beast when he settles down under Slot.
Great show thanks - looking forward to WEDS, hope to see some rotation.
We were poor and sloppy with our passing throughout large portions of the game. The goalkeeper error gifted us the first goal (albeit requiring top skill from Lucho). That seemed to break Bournemouth's resistance. Profligate in the second half but solid at the back. Can't help thinking if we play like that vs a good side, we could come unstuck. Alternatively, if we focus, concentrate and things 'click' as they should, we can still beat anyone.
Szobo needs to start doing something more than running for me, I was his biggest advocate but he’s been way off it for a while now.
He scored v milan?
@@jamesrawl3648 scoring 1 goal isn’t enough for how poorly he’s been playing. Let me be really honest, I’ve backed him throughout and I believe there is a player in there, but for me, he could be dropped with no argument
I don't think low-block is gonna be all that critical in the end, but the the big question is can we handle top teams. I don't think we have played anyone playing well yet, except Forest. If we go to the Etihad and Emirates and win we are definitely in business
I’m least worried about playing those so called big teams. The way we play now gives us a better chance against high pressing teams than ever.
@@kwabenaboateng8660 We will see. I think we have looked vulnerable at times to the press from a pretty ordinary bunch of teams.
We all love Nunez because we can totally relate to him. Mistakes , being talked down by outside noise, underestimated. He is all of us. So when he does well. It makes feel we can too. Darwinism.
I'm sorry but no
bit concerned that a team like Bournemouth managed to get off 19 shots against us.....at home.
It was 3-0 tho mate. Can’t really ask for more than that
Ben Johnno should be on every show btw
The citeh like ability to slowly turn the screw against low blocks with 30 passes in the final 3rd will come with time. This team has the skills to do it, just lacking the patience. but I love the fact they haven't lost the ability to spring fwd on the counter and with the ball over the top. Something Citeh haven't ever really had to our extent. It's a credo Slot that he hasn't taken that out of the arsenal while trying to implement his style and plans which will be more effective on low blocks.
citeh win the league every season do they need any other style of play. They don't need to spring forward. We have at least another season until we are really challenging for a league title slot needs more time and more of is own players to come in to replace your endo, so tsikimas and those guys.
@@nglforbes I think you missed the point ... which was that, if our progression continues in hte current direction of travel ... we'll be on par with them in terms of control games and break down low blocks but ... also retain the ability to push fwd on the counter more quickly than any other team. In other words ... we'll be better. I agree that it'll probably be next year ... but I'm not ruling out an EPL title out for this season either.
So with the typo means there will be a 2nd edition print making the 1st edition a collectors item
It's hilarious to think that if Zubimendi was signed now, he wouldn't get in the team over Gravenberch. Nothing against the fella, just shows how quick narratives can change in football. Only player I'd swap Gravenberch right now for, would be Rodri.
Would have been great to have him on the bench for this season - next season should be interesting, we could have Grav, Bajcetic, Morton, Endo for the #6 and Mac, Jones for the partner in the 2 man midfield
We started slow again. That has surely got to change. What happened to the days of hammering the door down first 20 minutes? Good solid win though, Gravenberch is now almost indispensable - who would have thought that last season? Up the mighty Reds.
Mane did a similar one against Chelsea and Keppa their goalie at the time 😂
True. 😂
Should have had Johnno doing Match Ratings in the corner
45:37 😂😂😂 had me in stitches here Rob
Up the fuckin reds
Up the mighties
These guys didn't like Klopp much eh? Good win this though, controlled and composed.
Shankly/Paisley .. Klopp/ Slot . YNWA
I must be misremembering the Klopp era. It seems all it was is chaos and mindless running around and attacking.🙄
The crowd involvement is still not the best…
Southgate to everton😅
I have yet to buy into the Nunez hype, last season in the Prem he scored 11 (36 appearances), season before he scored 9 (11 appearances) , therefore this season he could be due to score ? Deleting social media posts of LFC last season shows he hasn't got the right mentality to achieve what someone who leads the line for LFC should do. I write this as Halland scores his 100th goal.
He’s a 1 in 2 player for goal contributions.. there is no hype .. everyone talks shit about him even though his numbers are as good as Sadios .. it’s absolutely ridiculous fans like you that have expectations on a stupid level
@whatmatters683 sad that this is the kind of supporter being successful attracts. The absolute opposite of how Liverpool fans actually are. Maybe this isn't the right club for you mate
@garycarey9376
Sadio would really really important goals and was important in link play especially with Robertson and Winny. There's no comparison....yet.
well in Gary , its a front 6 now and Nunez gets numbers and we can all see they can and should go up 🫶🇺🇾🐐
Correct 👍🏾
46:24 agree with all about Virgil (obviously) but what was he doing for their disallowed goal? He was with his man then abandoned him to block an assumed shot but that was already covered and it left a free man in the box. Like all last year we have more than enough numbers to cope but 2 quick runners can really get at us.
38:18 harsh to see Nuñez score that goal and criticize him for trying it at all. We need that arrogance badly after last year where often the forwards were trying to walk it in. Even the call for Dom to take more shots… then how do criticize Darwin? You want some range and the unpredictability to keep defenders honest, which will make more space and gaps.
