The performance of the Kriegsloks (various classes of war time German 2-10-0 heavy freight locos) led to them being the inspiration for the 9Fs and a big part of what persuaded Robert Riddles to use that wheel arrangement over the 2-8-2 he was originally considering for the Standard heavy freight loco. Amazingly, some Kreigsloks are still in regular service in Bosnia in 2022!!
Fun fact: the BR 18 is the oldest of the lot. It was originally a Bavarian S 3/6 with an emerald paintwork, first built in 1908. German steamlocos became black/red in 1920 when all German railways unified into a single one. Every other steamloco in this race was built after 1920.

Hey Lazer i have a video series idea you should do the train simulator Olympics. where different locos from different country's race each other in strength competitions, tug of war competitions and race competitions and at the end of the series you can see what country wins!
As much as a amazing idea that is I’m sorry to say the tug of war possibly won’t work as the game might think that the two engines are double heading and have their reversers set so that they work together to move the train. Lazer might find a way to make it work but just AI won’t work I believe, sorry if I crushed some dreams
I have great idea do an International Steam Engine Race. Here are the Racers: Flying Scotsman, Mallard, City of Truro, NYC Hudson, Big Boy, & DB Class 10
This sound comes from the waterpump and a better german version of the 9F would be the BR 44 because it's stronger or the DB BR 50.40 Franco Crostis because there were also Franco Crosti 9F's The 52 is a war engine, in east germany some were rebuild to burn coal dust
The Tank Engine you drove once a long time ago in Train Simulator 2018 on a German Route The Pun was funny at the beginning LOL 😂, also the first place winner also reminded me of Frieda from Thomas & Friends The Great Race as well!
Hi Lazer jet I am a german watcher. The fastest Engine from german is the DRG Br 05 , in this game is the engine I mean 107 Mph fast but in real life was the record 125 Mph and is officially the fastest steam engine because Marlard was on his record a little down hill
When it has a DB DR designation it means its a locomotive that was used by the Deutsche Reichsbahns but was transfered after ww2 to the Deutsche Bundesbahn
@@grooviestglobe4907 it depends, the german rail networks after ww2 were heavily influenced by both American and British railroads so it could be a possibility
The DR BR 52 is a war version of the DR BR 50 with a few less features wich were put on again most of the 52s had no smoke deflectors and were painted grey it wasn’t made for speed but for carrying large amounts of cargo so it was kinda clear it wasn’t gonna win now is it! 🗿 anyways the video was very cool! i loved it
If you do end up making the Britain vs American vs German engine race I feel like you should have a few locos representing each loco size . Like mallard BR10 and some American pacific represent 4-6-2’s and so on for other wheel configurations or locomotive size
First off, the db br 52 was used in development of the 9f, second the db br 10 was the last German steam engine built and was made to test coaches at high speed
I'm pretty sure that sound you could hear at the start was a steam powered air compressor for the breaks because i don't think they used steam break over then at that time.
9F would win as the 52 are heavy freight locomotives and only do 80km/h. They are stripped down and simplified versions of the BR 50 and built during WW2
Whats funny is that the BR18 is the oldest of the bunch. The Br10 was no contest it was going to win out of this buch. Maybe one day try to let Mallard race a BR05 if you could find the model.
DR stands for the Prewar German National Railway network (Deutsche Reichsbahn) between 1920-1945. DB stands for the Postwar German Federal Railway network (Deutsche Bundesbahn) from 1949 to the present day. BR is the abbreviation for "baureihe", the German term for locomotive class.
Yes. But east germany still called their railway the DR (Deutsche Reichsbahn). For example the 18 201 build in 1960/1961 in Meiningen in east germany was the DR 18 201. So there was still a DR after the war until east and west were reunified. After the reunion the railway of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland wasn't called Deutsche Bundesbahn anymore but Deutsche Bahn.
I have driven all of all of those german engines that you have raced and have raced them for straight line speed manually my self and that some of those engines should have been faster than that

The weird sound comes from the Westinghouse air brakes, you can see it on the side of the DR/BR 86s smokebox

@@voidthe3f859 All good mate i knew that all ready
DB BR 52 was a heavy goods engine it was never ment for high speed but in terms of drawbar horse power it is stronger than all the other locos
The DB Class 10 is the strongest of all the other steamers by far, even from BR 52.
@@Tzifari_Productions shocking but good to know thank you
@@huntergilmore4193 your welcome. In fact BR 10 had a power output of 2.500 HP, while BR 52 had a power output around 1.500 HP.
Sadly the BR 10 could never properly operate due to its high axle load.
The BD BR 10 is the basis for Frieda in Thomas and friends the great race
Yes
Yep
Your right
But you have shown what the 10 loco reminds you of,so you should know it.
I thought that engine would win
the fan is such a big fan that he even lives with you
now thats a big fan
Hi Oliver next time can you put the gdr class 18 it’s the fastest German steam locomotive
When you want to know the names of the steam engines, just look up the first two numbers of the number plate.
I didn't know that you liked MLP, maybe you can do one on Australian engines.
He could do a hybrid... The Victorian Railways R Class, an American design built in England operated in Australia, then everyone wins 😜
Not only that i like the race, i also like that thomas is in the background lol
I have great idea do an International Steam Engine Race. Here are the Racers: Flying Scotsman, Mallard, City of Truro, NYC Hudson, Big Boy, & DB Class 10
Nice idea😄
Add DRG class 201 and 05 instead of class 10. Pennsylvania E7 and Milwaukee road F7 instead of Big boy
Brit, Brit, Brit, American, American, German. COMPLETELY FAIR
Don't forget UP 844!
ADD HUNSDON
It also may have been because the tank was on the inner line, in real life, the tank would be miles behind (literally)
I would bet myself on the BR 18 as it has larger driving wheels and looks like it could win
The BR 10 has bigger wheel diameter from BR 18. (2 meters vs 1.87 meters)

For anyone wondering, the DR on certain locomotives stand for Deutsche Reichsbahn which was the german peoples railroad during ww2
Also the DB on certain locomotives stands for the DRs (Deutsche Reichsbahn) successor the Deutsche Bundesbahn

I saw your vid of flying scotsman at Eastleigh im seeing flying scotsman on Saturday!
You only lack BR 05 streamlined. It was amazing piece of no no Germany art.
Btw, BR 86 is basically Thomas on steroids lol

Today i went to a railway museum in Viena, and found so many German steam locomotives, some are on display, and some are being restored.
Interesting. Don't know much about these.
First off, the db br 52 was used in development of the 9f, second the db br 10 was the last German steam engine built and was made to test coaches at high speed
I never thought I'd be early to this after a stream lol.
Great stream, LaZeR! I do remember seeing a selection of 1950's Model German Trains in a Charity Shop twice...
Great race love it 😊
German locomotives. I only drove a few of these during some of my other trainz simulator games
Also the BR 52 was built for strength not for speed in real life the BR 10 would have already won by miles

The 52 was specially made for the war.
And for cargo trains :)

DB stands for Deutsche Bahn and BR stands for Baureihe

Should do a slowest train race from all (possible) nations
I laughed when you said it is mr Oliver are you toad
Dr br 24 is my favorite German locomotive.

You forgot the Class 41!
Edit: to put in your definition: the DB BR 41.
