SB19 stands for "Sound Break 19" .. meaning, they are bringing a whole new taste of pop music here in the Philippines, inspired by the KPOP industry which is widely appreciated in the Philippines. 19 is the representation of unity between Korea and Philippines using our codes, Korea(82) and Philippines(63) if you add the numbers individually, 8+2+6+3= 19, since they were trained and handled by ShowBT, a korean enterntainment agency based in the Philippines. 😊 They can speak Korean, English and Tagalog fluently too. I'm happy you saw how much passion and practice they did for them to perform in such flawless synchonization. They literally practiced 1000x for their choreography and vocals which is being stamped by their Korean trainer.

I believe that it's ok to get an idea from korean pop culture because actually, boybands are NOT a thing in the Philippines and our pop culture has variety but lacks diversity. It's either you can sing very well alone or you are in a band... that's the 2 easiest options if you want to go and create a name in PH pop industry. Now given the fact that PH is one of the biggest followers of KPOP idols, the market platform suddenly changed the way Filipinos view "pop." it gained popularity, enticed a broad market demography and suddenly, it became a possible platform for Filipinos to enjoy music but also to apply their skills (singing and dancing). I understand the possible negative impact and they can be labeled as they are mere imitation but by now, i think it is definitely acceptable and understandable that it is just part of how East Asian countries evolve when it comes to popular music. And hey, Japanese POP is more popular than KPOP in early 2000s and taiwan also got their own boyband (F4) and all of their themes just vary in language but the style and target market are all the same! I think this is good for the pop industry in the East... it's an evolution that we don't currently follow from the West. The fact that Koreans are investing in this probably believe that the market is definitely enticed with the idea of having a boy group that has the same taste and style as KPop. Korean Pop industry is a global success that following it is always a good thing for every nation, especially to their neighboring countries. Filipinos are good singers, they can probably belt any song if they wish to! So i think it's just a matter of time before P-Pop can also be a mainstream thing herein the PH or probably in East Asia, if they are supported by the youth.
This is an on point comment! 😊 You're right, what the PH music needs is diversity. And based on the interviews of SB19, one of their goals is to "break" to the industry with their fresh sound, hence they gave the meaning of SB as "sound break." And I think their management is strategically targeting the right audience: they're touring schools and events where younger crowds are there, who are mostly listening to K-Pop. I'm hoping that this group will become successful and will bring the Filipino music to a whole new level. Who knows, SB19 may start the Filipino "Hallyu" just like what happened to Korea. 😉
레몬Milky sorry but that’s my own opinion since everyone has it’s own opinion even if it’s positive or negative and i hope you understand that too And that’s 2 months ago were i just hate them but now, I don’t think i still hate them but im still no their fan tho
which most of the people that criticize them can't see and appreciate. any korean influence here in the ph are usually highly criticize by the community. even the co-musicians as well. just because they didn't like or understand the culture and music, they just ramming immature opinions and claims. worst, they even accuse filipino kpop fans that they're defending the foreign influence instead of their own. How bold and immature of them to even think... Though my apologies of bringing my rant to your comment thread😅
in some interviews, sb19 said that they were on the verge of stopping when they released that mv. i'm so glad that they were warmly received by the target audience and so now, here we are
I guess she was referring to her "Just Filipinos" statement as expecting the SB19 will be mixed with half koreans or koreans. As some Idols like Twice are mixed with members from Japan and Taiwan as well. I saw how genuine her criticisms are. And she was able to give constructive criticism not comparing the idol group to korean idol groups but solely appreciating a new brand of Filipino idols inspired by kpop. I liked that she mentioned having a targeted audience which are "Filipinos". Because a lot of Kpop and Jpop songs need not to be translated to gain a bigger audience. It went massive as it is because they loved their language. And that's the key to anything we want to achieve. It's to love our own. Specially our language. Not to opt it out in our schools but to treasure it. I appreciate your comments about SB19 and hopefully they get to see this and I know they will appreciate it too.
there's mnl48. their songs are basically akb48 songs in tagalog. they still managed to appeal to the filipino audience, though mostly younger audiences, jpop fans, and anime fans. of course, they're not yet allowed to create original songs for now. they need to be approved first to have freedom to create one.
Your honest reaction--specifically basing it from your Kpop experience in Korea--is well appreciated. Your views are non-partisan, no bias because you're Korean. Love your judgement from a different perspective.👏😘
I'm a Filipino and I will not lie They first perform it at our school when we are having Korean Culture Festival they aew really good performer in person.... Promise✋
"that was a bit cringey" thank you for being honest because thats exactly what i felt when i watched the video. Your honesty just made your video analyses much more credible.
stan SB19, because even though SB19 was trained under a Korean Entertainment Company they never proclaimed that they are ‘K-Pop’ that means SB19 was proud of their nationality , plus they use their own language and they always remember where they come from.. SB19 is raising the Filipino Flag 🇵🇭
Would you believe that they also created their own song and dance choreography, i think that's the main reason why most of Filipinos love them. And they practiced it 30 times a day to make it perfect. Love them so much
I'll admit that get a little bit cringe too when I first saw this MV. But after I watched their dance practice and the 2x dance challenge. I got addicted to them and have watched all their vlogs and even followed all their social accounts. And now I'm a certified AURUM!!❤❤❤
Truth!! The negative thing you said about the opm was really true.. for those who are a big fan of opm and really not into kpop will hate this group but you know they have songs that has more influence of opm than kpop like tilaluha and hangang sa huli and love goes sound more Western than kpop.. and the good thing is they're written in Filipino (well most of them) and we have a wide range of kpop fans that I have high hopes, but sadly some of them compare sb19 to the appearance of their favorites.. I hate it..
@@yoongiswhiskers2833 so true. Mostly opm artists even spoke highly of sb19. My father is a singer and loves opm so much as well as the old songs back in the days and when he saw sb19 on ggv, he actually praised them coz he thinks that this is another pride of the philippines in another area of music. Music is not based on the past, like if what music was on the past will have to apply to the music now. SB19 is a P-pop group trained under a Korean company. A 5-member group who can all sing, rap, dance, and play different instruments. They write their own songs, do the choreography, style themselves and always perform live. Stan SB19! 💖

What if.. There's a chance that some korean company's will merge here in the Philippines to create a new kpop or ppop idols are you willing to audition?

I've seen so many people react to SB19 and this is one of my favorite reactions since you've been in a KPOP girl group before also was in Idol School. 🥰
That “oh i think they practice a lot”. I’m proud to say that they practiced 1000 times before they released their songs. According to their management “PRACTICE WILL NEVER BETRAY YOU” that’s why a lot of Filipinos and other countries, like them for being passionate about achieving their dreams. I’m addicted to them tbh. A good influence for everyone
They practiced a lot and it shows so much in their output and live performances. I hope they get the recognition they deserve. Thanks for your input! It warms my heart to know someone who had first-hand experience in the KPOP industry appreciate SB19.
That "I hope they get some rest too, you know." It's very genuine and sincere, words coming from her experience as an Idol. We all know how hard these idols work. They definitely deserve to rest~

I really appreciate you giving your real and detailed opinion of them, thank you so much for checking them out and supporting them!! I actually wonder if you're still interested in pursuing an idol career, because ShowBT (the company of SB19) is accepting applications / auditions. ABS-CBN as well just recently signed Momoland and MNL48, and so I'm thinking Ppop is on the rise. Perhaps this might be an avenue worth exploring? Hahaha, Jessica stans rise up!! Fighting!

They Practiced the Dance 30x a day until they reach 1000 practice before they debut or Comeback. Also they have a Motto printed in their Dance Practice room. It says "PRACTICE WILL NEVER BETRAY YOU" :)
Back again after many months, I hope you react to their "Tilaluha," "Hanggang sa Huli." Their vocals are prominent in these songs. Also in their cover song "Bakit ba ikaw."

I dont want to be xenophobic and also not very ethnocentric. I love your honesty and the way you thought about this group's pros and cons for OPM, P-Pop, and the Filipino entertainment and music industries including our Filipino national, cultural, and artistic identities. 😂😊😇💕
They were trained like K-pop idols under a Korean entertainment company! Their sharp and synchronized dancing and solid vocal skills are products of hard work and dedication. According to their Spotify profile, SB19 trained in the Philippines not in South Korea under ShowBT, a Korean entertainment company that branched out in the Philippines. They've gone through three years of rigorous training known to K-pop idols and it clearly shows in their performances. Josh revealed in an iWitness interview that they have nine-hour vocal and dance training every day, with a one-day break per week. For their latest single "Go Up," the group rehearses the choreography 30 times a day, and even have a target of practicing the dance 1,000 times.
In my opinion personally I think SB19 isn't blurring the Filipino music or Opm It's actually a good mixture because they of course have a different approach when talking about music but I like K-pop and I like the fact that I can finally understand something with that style of music and I also like the fact that I could go to them and then go to listen Moira, December Avenue, IV of Spades, etc... For me it adds to it instead of blurring it there's more variety now
At philippines its normal to mix tagalog and English even having a conversation because that's typically one of there language. Like " OKAY ka lang ba" "baka may DANCE PRACTICE pa bukas"
Im so sorry about the hate comments of my fellow filipinos, I didnt feel offended about what you said, I guess they just didnt know what you were meaning to say. And to that Im a new subscriber❤
There's no such thing as kpop dance genre, that's an Urban Dance genre. Many filipino crews already dance to that genre. So you can't say that they dance like kpop but dance as good as the kpop idols. Ps. I think it doesn't make sense😂
One thing i wish foreigners would see is not just how they dance but how creative the dance is. Every step, like literally everystep is an interpretation of the song lyrics xD like the part "ningning = shining, see how they form the star twinkling, the part dugo = blood, see how they got it from the wrist, pangako = pinkie promis, puso= heart et cetera :) it is kpop inspired but I think the opm is shown on the story telling part, if you will look into opm songs you will see the similarities on how the lyrics is done :) (you = general audience, just to clarify :D) thanks for the video :)
What I really like about SB19...first they don’t brag about who they are now...they don’t claim something they’re not...I must say that this group is one of a kind.❤️❤️❤️
Hope everyone realizes that the success of SB19 also spells success for KPOP even if their songs are geared towards the Pinoy audience (for the most part). This means that KPOP has already leveled up. It has transcended from being “just Korean Pop” or “Pop Music from Korea” to an official genre that is universal. Let’s take HIPHOP for example. It has roots in Black American culture & experiences. However, HIPHOP grew to what it is today - a genre that is universal and can be enjoyed and accessed by ANYONE no matter where they‘re from. That is now why we have Korean HIPHOP, Pinoy HIPHOP, British HIPHOP etc etc. NICE REACTION VIDEO JESSICA!! :)

you can check out Korean bhai on youtube, he's a korean living in Bangladesh right now for many years now actually and he can also speak our language quite well, ppl love him here
Thank you so much for appreciating SB19. Love from philippines 💙
Well said!
Very well said!!! Awesome! 👍👍👏😉

They still have the OPM style with their ballad songs.

which most of the people that criticize them can't see and appreciate. any korean influence here in the ph are usually highly criticize by the community. even the co-musicians as well. just because they didn't like or understand the culture and music, they just ramming immature opinions and claims. worst, they even accuse filipino kpop fans that they're defending the foreign influence instead of their own.

I agree.
Yas.
Indeed 👌
there's mnl48. their songs are basically akb48 songs in tagalog. they still managed to appeal to the filipino audience, though mostly younger audiences, jpop fans, and anime fans. of course, they're not yet allowed to create original songs for now. they need to be approved first to have freedom to create one.
Your honest reaction--specifically basing it from your Kpop experience in Korea--is well appreciated. Your views are non-partisan, no bias because you're Korean. Love your judgement from a different perspective.👏😘

When I first saw them, that's what I thought but now I'm a fan ♥
it's cringey until now i better listen to kpop but the song was a bop but the mv was a meh, but for low budget it's good
Same pero nung inulit ulit ko nagandahan na ko and I'm a fan of them naㅋㅋㅋ
stan SB19, because even though SB19 was trained under a Korean Entertainment Company they never proclaimed that they are ‘K-Pop’ that means SB19 was proud of their nationality , plus they use their own language and they always remember where they come from..
SB19 is raising the Filipino Flag 🇵🇭
Would you believe that they also created their own song and dance choreography, i think that's the main reason why most of Filipinos love them. And they practiced it 30 times a day to make it perfect. Love them so much
Ofcourse lahat naman ng grupo sa kpop usually sila nagcocompose ng sarili nilang vid ung iba nga sila pa nagpoproduce mismo.
I'll admit that get a little bit cringe too when I first saw this MV. But after I watched their dance practice and the 2x dance challenge. I got addicted to them and have watched all their vlogs and even followed all their social accounts. And now I'm a certified AURUM!!❤❤❤
Truth!! The negative thing you said about the opm was really true.. for those who are a big fan of opm and really not into kpop will hate this group but you know they have songs that has more influence of opm than kpop like tilaluha and hangang sa huli and love goes sound more Western than kpop..
and the good thing is they're written in Filipino (well most of them) and we have a wide range of kpop fans that I have high hopes,
but sadly some of them compare sb19 to the appearance of their favorites.. I hate it..
They shouldn't hate SB19 though. That quite...hmmm...immature. Hating the boys won't help the Philippines °^°
Music is art, different variations, factors and genres, So IT IS childish to hate them, thinking that those opm lovers are mostly are matured and professionals.
They don't need a high budget for the M/V , they all need is just a professional Filipino video editor , .. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Im from indonesia but im offended the way u said they are “JUST” a filipino artist
So how bout koreans,THEY ARE ALSO ‘JUST’ KOREANS
I’m sorry if that offended you. When I said that they are just a Filipino artist, I don’t mean the ‘just’ to be ‘only’. I didn’t intend to imply any sense of inferiority towards the group. I said that statement because I falsely assumed that they would look like ‘Koreans’ under the premise that they were trained under a Korean entertainment company. And I clearly stated in the video that this one dimensional thinking was wrong on my part. When I realized that they didn’t look like Koreans, I immediately knew that my assumption was false.
