Classics Dubbeltest Renault 8 vs. Skoda 1100 MB

Auto's 'met alles achterin'. De Renault 8 en Skoda 1100 MB hebben de aandrijving op de achterwielen en de motor onder de achterklep. Hoe rijdt dat? En wie voert het concept het beste uit? Skoda in het voormalig oostblok of het Franse Renault? Tijd om deze twee auto's met de kofferruimte voorin op de proef te stellen!

Back 16 - 13 years ago I have owned two Renault 8 (1100ccm), great little cars! Exceptional road handling, cool design and great ride comfort. In fact it was the most comfortable car to drive i have ever had. Good acceleration and excellent brakes. I know Škoda 1000MB quite well as i am from Bohemia. Good cars but in my opinion it lacks the french charm of R8. Also Renault 8 has 4 discs brakes! In fact it was the first mass produced car to have 4 discs brakes.

Lovely cars! A suggestion: I would like it if the owners would switch cars and compare them with their own. This would make it more of a test.

Super leuke test! Net even een test er op nageslagen van toen de Skoda nieuw was, en dat leest zich net als de test van een Dacia van nu. Afwerking wat eenvoudig, prestaties voldoende, maar in basis goede en praktische auto met een voor de prijs onovertroffen ruimteaanbod. Ook qua prijs gaat de vergelijking op, de Renault kostte toen (in vergelijking met de 1000MB) dik 30% meer dan de Skoda!
(onvermeld blijft de kwaliteitscontrole, mogelijk dat de Skoda testauto wat extra aandacht had gekregen)

Back in the mid 1980ties Skodas were sold for 6000DM(in EUR the price would be today 2800EUR). The cheapest japanese car, must have been a Daihatsu(can`t rember exactly) at time was about 10.000DM, a VW Polo sold for for 12,000, and so on. Here and there you could find Skoda dealers that tried to sell their cars between rubble and dirty backyards. The opposite were Renault Cars. None the of people would turn their head, but designed, with far better engineering. That`s why I fell in love with most of their models at a very young age. Far away from being perfect, but with that certain french oh la la.

Interesting cars - but why video so much only the drivers? Sorry but cars are interesting in these videos not people... Ok, I know youtube is full of talking faces, I do not like it so much. Skoda has better colour, but Renault is nice too.
