How can you not comment on the TONE of Scott AND his Italian? Don't get me wrong, Mitch and the rest were great, but Scott...he sounded like a classical singer here. His TONE!!!
This is perfection. Mitch was meant to sing this song. It doesn’t take us to church; it takes us to God. I have listened to this several, several times. I agree. They make a song theirs. Perfection!
Mitch’s control between his chest and head voice is phenomenal. IMHO this is the best vocal I’ve heard from both Scott and Mitch since I started listening 10 years ago. This is special. Grammy worthy.
The precise vocal control of all 5 of them in this performance is impeccable. I hope this performance and arrangement are both submitted to the Grammy committee when the eligibility period comes up next year. The songs from last year's Christmas album and this year's original album are eligible for the upcoming Grammy nominations.
@@lynn2574 I saw that! It was great to see them submit entries to various categories. I think Amazing Grace has a really good shot for nominations in arrangement and contemporary Christian performance.
There is such a GENTLE angelic quality to Mitch's voice in this I swear he had an angel stuck in his throat. And Scott's Italian opera voice is BUTTER. Kirstie has become the queen of effortless power.
Kevin and Matt’s contribution to this song can’t be overlooked. All together this is a true masterpiece. I’m crying as I type and I think I’ve heard this at least 20 times so far! Has to be an Emmy!
I echo EVERYONE'S comments, ten fold lol but can we PUH-LEASE take a second to give my guy Matt some love on this one? I was so mesmerized by the way the trio was taking us to chuch (yes....CHUCH, lol) & switching off the duets between all 3, & hearing the beautiful 5 part harmonies & of course KO's PERFECT percussion the first half dozen times I watched/listened .....that I didn't realize how LOW Matt was actually going & SUSTAINING the bassline until I got in my car. Bruh. I honestly think that might be his lowest note yet. My bum was vibrating for real on this one. Caught me off guard driving down the road🤦🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 All jokes aside tho, kudos to the whole group. I most definitely smell a Grammy here!!!! Fingers crossed! Great reaction btw!!
This is definitely the best arrangement and performance they have EVER done. Yes, more than Hallelujah, Sound of Silence, Imagine, Amazing Grace, etc. I was speechless and breathless the first time I heard it. (I don't count hearing it on AGT as my first time hearing it.) My second favorite on this album is My Heart With You. It will have you swimming in emotions!
I think Matt is the quiet achiever in this one. His rich, resonant bass really underpins this piece beautifully. Everyone was brilliant in this. Stunning Grammy worthy performance.
It was this time last year when they put out Amazing Grace!! Nov. 5th Great reaction!! I can’t stop listening to this one! I love it! Mitch, Scott and Kirstie hit a grand slam on this one!! Of course Kevin and Matt did their thing as well! My new favorite PTX song!

I wonder if only Pentaholics can live through this since we have been exposed more beauty than the average person. This song should come with a warning. This might destroy people that haven't been exposed to Pentatonix before.
THE arrangement! Absolutely stunning work from every single member! Grammy #4 is what we just heard! Andre & Celine will be proud! Tho I favor Celine’s duet withJosh Groban! THIS is now my favorite. Mitch soaring & Scott’s Italian!
This is literally otherworldly. Mitch's voice soared to Heaven with the angels and Scott's lower range was ridiculous and insane. Kirstie's belting was the cherry on top. Absolutely magical and gorgeous.
100% agree with you, this is DEFINITELY one of their best and smartest arrangements they've ever done. Especially that bridge section with Scott and Kirstin. That part in my opinion is the best thing they've ever created, period.
I’ll say, my favorite progression from them is Little Drummer Boy, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, The Prayer. Each release of these songs has had me more blown away with each song. I am a HUGE Céline Dion fan. HUGE! But this version of The Prayer, WOW! 🤯🥰
Absolutely Gorgeous! I predict a Grammy! Evergreen has to be the #1 Christmas Album of "2021" Kirstie is Stunning and Mitch is Angelic. Scott singing Italian is Solid Gold.. Kevin & Matt seam Flawless. I will be listening to "The Prayer" all Holiday Season. Thank You, Your reactions are always lots of fun & enjoyable.
This song right here will make EVERY PENNY of my Christmas Tour concert ticket WORTH IT!! Seriously, if they came on stage and only sang this, then left the stage...wouldn't bother me a bit!!
This song definitely ranked in my top 5 from them! My #1 spng I loved they did a while ago Mary did you know! Id love to hear an updated version of it with Matt instead of Avi.
You will love the entire Evergreen album. I Saw Three Ships, a song I never really liked is now one of my favorites. The arrangement is phenomenal. Can't wait for your reaction to all of them as with anything PTX related.
I agree with you Brad that this was hauntingly beautiful. I think this song is THE BEST one they have ever arranged and sang. Mitch’s voice was definitely fitting for The Prayer but his solos with Scott and Kirstin were beyond amazing. I love this song, love your reaction, and will continue to listen to it over and over again 💕💕
I loved this reaction. As a songwriter, you have the ability to really understand the complexities of the arrangement, and that's unusual among reactors! Subbed!!
Definitely Grammy worthy! Thank You Brad for reviewing The Prayer! After seeing this on AGT finale was hoping this would be a duet for Mitch and Scott and PTX did not disappoint- wonderful arrangement and the voices all are amazing, stellar and outstanding. Please review the album my 2nd favorite is My Heart With You
Since I first heard this right after it came out, I was reminded of what Sara Bareilles told them after Dog Days Are Over: " What we have here is a group of young people who can become so much more". This is the so much more. They are now mature artists, in absolute total control of their instruments and able to handle even more complex harmonies than before. And remember when Sean said "PTX you sound so big". This is PTX at their biggest. It's almost like the judges 10 years ago could see this coming. And I can't wait to see where they grow and go from here. I think we're only just beginning. Which may be truly amazing as spectacular as they've been til now.
November is Alzheimers awareness month. If you have time this month, could you react to the video about Glenn Campbell's journey and musical tour after being diagnosecl with Alzheimers and to the song I'm Not Going to Miss You. Nearly everyone knows someone affectecl by this horrid disease.
The Prayer is amazing, but Mitch and Scott are the two main Pentatonix that steal the show with their voices. Kirstin, Kevin, Matt do a brilliant of blending with their voices to make something different and special when all of them come together in the song.
Kirstin is right there with Mitch and Scott. She pierced through with brilliance (more than just blending) -- gave me chills, all three -- and then the beautiful bridges, walls of sound, and artfully placed percussion and bass by Matt and Kevin. Exquisite and emotional!
Omg!!! This has to be one of my fav, along with Amazing Grace My chains are gone. Mitch this was your song to sing, and Scott was the perfect duet partner, you all came together to make this version a show stopper, love Pentatonix!!!!
