I used to play in quite a few groups, a some local symphonies, an early music ensemble, salsa band, and a short stint as percussionist in a British brass band (where I got contacts with most my brass collaborators!). But since I got married I'm trying to transition into doing more stuff that I can do from home.

Which is precisely how I like it. However, while the piano and violin portions are absolutely perfect upgraded equivalents to their respective originals, the recorder just doesn't feel like an equally precise counterpart to its original 16-bit sound. It sounds different, whereas the piano and violin simply sound much better. Also the recorder sounds unbalanced toward the right side, which might not be helping either.

There's definitely something about this soundtrack that does that to me. I get the same feeling with Joe Hisaishi's music for Miyazaki.

I'm in the U.S., I should have said British-style brass band. It's based around the cornet family instead of the trumpet family.
