I can confirm this was recorded at The Festival Hall. This was our last gig before reforming in 1972, with Pat Ken and I joining the Christie Brothers Stompers shortly after.
thanks Ben for taking the time to respond to this offering of such a wonderful piece of music - apologies for the error but thank you for the great performance in the first place - I did admit to 'Spike' way back, but I did like the picture of the RAH - much grander than the FESTIVAL. Did you catch my submission of Christie brothers - Heebie Jeebies - these must bring back some memories 72 years
Great to hear from a member of the original Crane River Jazz Band. It was never surpassed.
Hi i am Luciano invernizzi, went to london must to bear ken, and i went to Birmingham to listen and vive him my appresetin
Bought this track on a Parlophone 78rrpm as a teenager in 1954.and played it in one form or another. non-stop. Absolutely brilliant, traditional jazz at its best.
i did the same in the 50's - brilliant. was the saints jazz band on the reverse side regards doug johnston
& Again...... On listening to this classic gem......the presence of pianist Pat Hawes underpins this whole performance by swelling the Whole Sound in a unique way!!
thanks mrgoodintent for your comment
i dont mean to be so off topic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!

@Keagan Carson I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Keagan Carson it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass :D
I bought the 78 in 1951 and was musically consumed by this recording. In fact it was the catalyst for my jazz career. Such emotional playing especially by Pat Hawes, who gave one of the most beautiful solos on piano. They really captured New Orleans sound.
Thanks for the comment - glad it brought back good memories - as someone who had the original you probably realised it should have been the Festival Hall not the Royal Albert
Features the blossoming genius of Monty Sunshine.

The Crane River Club at the White Hart at Cranford was the first jazz club I attended.
What amazing luck to be there at the time.
How wonderful is this !
so70aeiou Hi so70 - so glad you enjoyed this
Excellent
I guess at this time all the guys in New Orleans would have had no idea their music was being played to this standard far away in Britain. Colyer's visit must have been a huge (and pleasant) surprise.
Hi Pete - I think you're probably right, I don't suppose they got to hear much of what's happening outside their own counties - but a wonderful legacy
Thanks for this. I have recently bought the book 'Goin Home' and this is one of tracks on the disc that came with it. This sounds great even though it's an early recording. Love it!
Hi Margaret - glad you enjoyed the recording and I hope you have as much enjoyment reading about Ken's life in the book, I know I did
What a legacy these guys left. Should be compulsory listening for the young
Я фанатик джаза эта удивительная музыка вдохновляет меня
That's my dad on piano.
A great video as per usual Brian. Although I think that you might have to make a new one, this was recorded at the (then brand new) Royal Festival Hall.
+TheSpikehere Hi Spike - sorry for the delay in replying, been a bit busy - this is a bit of the old adage ' doesn't know his festival from his albert ' but they're both royals anyway. No replacement vid I'm afraid you'll have to shut your eyes for the beginning and imagine. All the best Brian
+Brian Sturt No probs with a delay mate. You're right I can either shut my eyes, or turn to page 75 of "Goin' Home" and smile at the picture of an open-shirted Guv'nor being presented to (the then) Princess Elizabeth at this gig (or should that be Concert?). I just wish my old man had lived to get the book, and watch your great videos.
+TheSpikehere Thanks Spike - your dad must have been a great guy to leave such a lasting impression - I shall be putting new vids up shortly, to be honest I nearly gave up [youtube took down some of the videos due to copyright infringement] but I will persevere. Keep watching

I didn't know he ever played with The Guv'nor.
Wrong, it was the Royal Festival Hall
I know cos' I was there - so was Ben Marshall who mentioned it a year ago [see below] - but the R. A. H. looked much better. I'm kidding, it was a mistake, I hope it didn't distract from you're musical enjoyment of this beautiful rendition of this piece of our musical history. All the best . BS
